About Ypres Castle Inn
Historic inn on the ramparts of Rye's ancient citadel, in the shadow of a medieval castle. Our focus is on craft beer, real cider and low intervention wines.
Great place for Sunday lunch!
Totally brilliant, friendly, warm and relaxed, fantastic local beverages and lovely food on offer.
Great food, friendly staff, nice pub.
Lovely pub - food was delicious and the atmosphere cosy (including open fire). Great beer garden and they were very happy for us to bring all three of our golden retrievers in with us!
fantastic venue, good range of beers. Chili and rack of lamb both get 10/10. Will definitely be back
Our favourite pub in Rye. Great food and drinks. An excellent beer selection and good service. Well spaced out and organised for Covid times.
Its always a pleasure to be here very cosy and friendly just great.
Gorgeous hostelry. Love it hear! Definitely coming back
Enjoyed a tasty lunch at the Ypres on a rainy day. Food was freshly prepared, service was friendly and polite. We had three small plates plus chips between two of us from the small but varied menu. Pub was clean and felt COVID safe.
Excellent - thanks
Great Sunday lunch and quirky style soup for starter only gripe roast beef on the menu no horseradish sauce ??? Also no hot drinks available perhaps this is down to covid 19 ,,, All in all enjoyed
The pub is lovely and the staff really welcoming! It’s correct what they say on the website that it focuses on the food rather than drink - Our roast Dinners had two tiniest slithers of overcooked beef. The starters were delicious so we were really disappointed when the roast was below average, especially as they only offered beef and nut roast on that day so we thought it would be limited as it was top quality.
Disappointed because the only booking we could get for Sunday lunch was 4pm that some things were not available. We were really looking forward to a roast dinner but disappointed that there was no Yorkshire puddings. Also just the main green veg.,broccoli, had run out . The beef was delicious and loads of it but missed Yorkshire puds! Great drinks selection and friendly staff. Lovely place.
Service was very slow, we didn't even get to order a pudding before the time was up even though we were sat there for some time, the staff seemed a bit frantic, apologies but wasn't what we hoped for. The roast was also not worth 15 pounds compared to other roasts we have had in pubs, as the beef was very thin and the gravy was like water, and the Yorkshire were over done and hallow once you cut them.
Lovely pub, excellent service, fantastic landlord.
Salad was amazing! Very good beer alternatives as well.
A lovely place which I’m sure would be a lot different if it wasn’t for COVID! Staff were lovely and followed all the guidelines, the food however is not up to standard and lacked seasoning in my opinion. For the standard of food versus what you are charged, I suppose it’s not too bad.
The food and service were excellent.
Great landlord and great service considering these difficult times . Excellent beer selection .
Amazing as always!
The most cosy pub in town
Food not brilliant I’m afraid. Ok, but a bit more imagination and flavour needed. Pub and staff lovely. Having said the above, I would however go back.
Had a really lovely lunch and great value for money 👌
Great pub, cosily decorated with friendly staff and good atmosphere
