About Wishbone Cafe & Bistro Bar
In keeping with 11 Alice Lane’s vision of being ‘more than an address; a true status symbol’, Wishbone Café & Bistro Bar has been designed to be in tune with the latest 21st century restaurant trends, with a world class, casual yet sophisticated ambience.
Surrounded by the impressive architectural masterpieces of 11 Alice Lane, we aim to offer you a smooth, sleek and superlative dining experience, whether it be for a business breakfast, working lunch, leisurely sunset drinks or an intimate dinner overlooking the spectacular Sandton horizon.
The aesthetics of the restaurant are centred around a high paced corporate environment that features modern versus traditional elements, referencing the strong glass of the surrounding towers and mixing it with warmth and comfort.
Embracing Sandton’s modern and inspiring energy, Wishbone’s urban, casual whilst still sophisticated menu has been specially created by Executive Chef Peter van Schaik to satisfy any palette. We are willing to adapt any menu item to your specific taste wherever possible. The menu is complemented by our extensive and carefully curated wine list and our two Sommeliers Pieta Dreyer and Johannes Jacobs will be happy to recommend a suitable wine pairing for your meal.
We trust that you will enjoy your experience at Wishbone Café & Bistro Bar and look forward to serving you!
Waiter Velile was very attentive, drinks came quickly, Bartender Charity knows her stuff and manager Mike was assisting plating the food. The atmosphere was nice with DJ's that ensured the house was not silent and the music at a pleasant audible level to still have a nice conversation. For the table we got some sweet potato fries & zucchini fritters and we nibbled away quite quickly as it was very tasty. I ordered the surf and turf special (my choice of fried calamari and pork ribs) this was amazing, calamari had nice parmesan dust nicely spiced and the ribs fell of the bone. We were too full to try dessert but their chocolate fondant is out of this world... As well as the apple tart tantin with shortbread crust.... I Highly recommend you to try out Wishbone, they have plenty of parking at the 5th street entrance, just follow signage to the Piazza under the Bowmans building. AND Mike was nice enough to give us VALIDATED PARKING TICKETS!!!
The service was extremely slow. The restaurant was virtually empty however our food and coffee took an unacceptably long time to arrive at the table. Prior to booking, I confirmed corkage at R70 per bottle. When the bill arrived we were charged R75 per bottle. The manager was nowhere to be found
The first 3 meals we ordered was not available - calamari, seafood bistro and pork - very disappointing as this was our first time of going there. When we questioned this, it seemed like the manager came around but neither the manager or the waiter did anything about it or gave us feedback of trying to assist us. We were a big group - 8 people. Waiter was not always around for when we wanted something. Always had to call him - he did not hover around to see if we wanted anything.
The meal & services were both great - will definitely be back!
Really great space- great wine and food selection. The service is a bit of a let down given there was only one other table when we went. But would go back and give it another try.
Wishbone is a wonderful surprise in the heart of Sandton. The service is excellent, the food delicious and the decor and art that surround you, stimulating.
Good service - thank you!
Service is excellent
Great ambiance, great food, great service, Will be back
service was really slow. Two of us ordered grilled calamari it was pale and insipid and not very tasty. I am not sure I would come back
Staff need to be trained better on the menu, especially portion sizes. Gravalax was not available. Waiter should say upfront what is not in stock, instead of waiting until the order and then being disappointed. Overall the food is great and very tasty. Especially the pizza and cheese board. Good wine selection.
Our waitress seemed to not care about our table. We constantly had to get the attention of the waiters just to take our order or even to take our plates away. Just seemed to have no interest in our table as there was a big group sitting upstairs and all waiters seemed more interested in the big table than the smaller tables. Food also was not great. The butternut ravioli was very watery and not tasty. Did not feel the hype that other websites were raving about
We all enjoy and will come back for more!!!
My wife and I really enjoyed our first visit to Wishbone and will be back soon. I was really surprised though how few people were there. I will spread the word. Thank you, Chris & Sonja Maher
Hosted an event at Wishbone, the manager and owner were so accommodating to our needs and wants. The food and service was amazing and the guests were very happy.
Had a lovely birthday dinner at Wishbone Cafe. Everything was well organized and done as I had requested with a few added special touches!
All round great service. Music could be a bit more modern.
Loved our client lunch here - wonderful food (albeit huge PORTIONS!), excellent service and a great vibe.
The Pulled Pork sandwich was delicious. I would like to see a few more dessert options, especially something chilled and fruity for summer.
Lovely experience, great lunch time venue!
The food was absolutely brilliant, even though we had a number of different people around our table ordering a number of different things, everyone was absolutely impressed. I would recommend the Lamb Shoulder because that's what I'm dying to try next lol.
Our waitress Nozi (we shortened her name) was absolutely awesome. The food, décor, atmosphere and service was amazing. We'll definitely be back.
