Set in the historic courtyard of the hotel, where in the 1780’s the first mail coaches arrived from London, the 2 AA Rosette WinePress Restaurant is one of Norwich’s finest dining establishments, offering modern cuisine to today’s discerning diner. Head Chef, Magic, finalist in this years Chef of the Year competition, and his Brigade, produce seasonal menus which reflect the best local produce available.
Please note, that following the Government’s announcement on Tuesday, 22nd September, our WinePress Restaurant, Yard Bar and Lounge areas will close from 10.00pm each evening.
Fruit scones and cake was delicious, white bread unfortunately a bit dry and hard at the edges but filling was nice.
Great outdoor courtyard. Too many tables though - less than 1 meter between. Would be much better if they reduced the number of tables.
Gorgeous space and menu was so much better than expectations
On arrival, the waitress took us to our table, she took the drinks order and then took 45 minutes to bring our order We ordered afternoon tea with a couple of bowls of chips, the chips never arrived, the bread was dry and bland, something you wouldn’t expect in a 4 star hotel. My husband had booked your hotel for a surprise lunch for my 50th birthday present., and it was a complete let down. We definitely will not be returning.
Staff were lovely and accommodating. We ate in the courtyard for casual dining experience and drinks. Evening started to get colder and the staff gave us hot water bottles.
Lovely attentive and friendly staff. Courtyard has a great atmosphere and very sheltered with the bonus of heaters so not too cold. Food was great!
Visited with friends for lunch, lovely food, attentive service, courtyard beautifully decorated - and fairly cosy on a pretty cold day! Would definitely make a repeat visit.
The reservation was made for a third party but they reported back that they were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food and service in general and would go again.
Overall we had a lovely meal and evening. The waiting staff were very friendly and attentive and a credit to your hotel. The food was delicious. The only two points for improvement would be a slightly better selection of breads given the price and quality of the meal. And the other would be a greater selection or menu of soft drinks rather than just a push for the wine (which i fully understand). Loved the hot water bottles. Thanks for a lovely evening.
Helpful, efficient staff. We had our grand daughter with us, was really good time wise, not too long wait for food or drinks.
Sadly the scones were stale the wait was quite long between drinks being served & food arriving
We had a truly wonderful dining experience
Only negative the finger sandwiches were a bit stale, obviously been made a while and not covered. Overall though very enjoyable, staff were lovely.
Brilliant in every respect.
It was a gorgeous meal - completely delicious food (and drink) and friendly, professional service. It was four months since we had had a restaurant meal, and this was a perfect reintroduction. Thank you.
Our most favourite place in Norwich and Norfolk for Sunday lunch. Beautiful and comfortable surroundings. Attentive, warm and efficient staff. Wonderfully prepared and presented food. Excellent wines.
Excellent service and exceded our expectations under current conditions
An excellent meal in lovely surroundings. Staff quietly efficient and helpful. I wish we could return in the near future.
The hotel and the restaurant especially is a 'hidden gem' in Norwich. The service is excellent and the food compares with any top London hotel.
My friends and l really enjoyed our afternoon tea, we received good service, we arrived at 3:00pm and left at 7:30pm we were well looked after and we will definitely do it again
Would have given another star for service if more staff were available. Those who waited our table were friendly but service was very slow.
We came for afternoon tea on a Sunday afternoon. It was brilliant, all the staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was really tasty. We had mentioned it was a birthday and the staff arranged a special plate with happy birthday written on and presented it as a surprise. Everywhere was clean and staff were visibly adhering to covid guidelines. Would definitely recommend and we will definitely be back. Thank you.
Food was delicious. Service fantastic.
A very enjoyable afternoon spent enjoying Afternoon Tea. A very dainty selection of goodies, very tasty and delicious. All staff were very professional, polite and approachable. A very lovely hotel with wonderful furnishings and marvellous polished floors. The cloakrooms were spotless as were all other areas of the hotel, in fact everything was so highly polished that I didn't like to walk on the floor or touch the hand rails incase I made them dull. A wonderful car collection and a free car park too. This was my first visit but will definitely not be my last. Thank you to everyone who made my afternoon so special.
