Set in the historic courtyard of the hotel, where in the 1780’s the first mail coaches arrived from London, the 2 AA Rosette WinePress Restaurant is one of Norwich’s finest dining establishments, offering modern cuisine to today’s discerning diner. Head Chef, Magic, semi finalist in this years Chef of the Year competition, and his Brigade, produce seasonal menus which reflect the best local produce available.
One of the best meals I have had in a long time. Our starter was a lot more than just a Ham Hock and Chicken terrine The Cod of my main course as well as the lamb of my wife’s where both cooked to perfection I believe the WinePress deserves more than 2 AA rosettes and I look forward to returning
Fabulous food with great service. Highly recommend.
Very enjoyable evening. Food was superb in taste if a little fussy in presentation.
Excellent food, flavours superb, presentation very good. Would highly recommend. Staff very good, friendly and knowledgable about the menu
Excellent food and service due to covid my of effect atmosphere my only gripe one piece of bread prefer french sistem a basket otherwise many thanks Great meal.
The menu choices very sparse, even allowing for current difficulties. It was obvious to us that we were not as worthy of the same service as residents, who were chatted to and looked after rather differently. After having dined many times in the Winepress restaurant, the contrast was very noticeable. If the hotel does not want non-residents to dine, perhaps they should indicate this - hopefully as a temporary situation. Overall, a disappointing experience and we wish we had booked elsewhere for my husband's birthday celebration this year. Cannot give less than one star but "value for money" is not appropriate.
Two courses £33.00 Beautifully cooked and delicious but only sufficient to satisfy a small appetite. If you think cordon bleu is French for small portions, there you have it! Our lunch: Starter: Crab rillette dish with half a slice of bread Main: duo of lamb, pea and bean fricassee, two thin curls of pickled carrot and one (yes really, just one) small hassleback potato.
Very comfortable in lounge. Tea beautifulIt presented.
Could not have been any nicer. The atmosphere is very relaxed while they provide really high quality service. The food was amazing, fresh, and full of flavour.
Very exciting food which we thoroughly enjoyed. We will return again soon, hopefully for your forthcoming tasting evening. Excellent service provided by the entire team but particulary Sue who was fantastic. Very attentive and informative. Your attention to detail in respect of Covid guidelines was first class, well managed and adhered to by diners. Thank you for the pleasure of dining at the Winepress. Look forward to the next time!
Amazing food and very friendly staff. It was my wife’s 50th birthday celebration and it made her birthday really special. Thank you!
Slow start great mains excellent finish. Atmosphere a little flat restaurant a bit chilly
Very good meal with equally good service.
Lovely afternoon tea and great service
Very good food served in ample portions.
The Wine Press is a hidden gym. Amazing food with very friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. Feels like sitting in an outside London cobbled street and so relaxed and inviting you must give it a try !
Excellent food and outstanding service.
Food was amazing. So delicious and presented beautifully. Compliments to the chef. Friendly waiting staff. Wondered if you were doing track and trace (collecting diners contact details), as didn't see that happening though you may have with others and not us as we had booked and you already had our details. Would definately like to return though not our usual price range so would have to be a special occasion. Food for thought.
It was clear that there was not enough staff to cope with demand which resulted in an increased wait time and slightly lower quality of service than you would expect. Well done to the waitress who served us though as although she was extremely busy she still managed to provide a good level of service by working extremely hard and within the constraints of the staffing levels of the restaurant. If it were not for the waitress’ dedication, then the service could really have been a lot worse and put us off returning so fair play to her. Food was excellent, couldn’t fault it.
The fish was so fresh I think they may have been out all night catching it plus lovely service.
Absolutely beautiful meal. If in doubt just book x
Had such an enjoyable afternoon tea. Food was delicious. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Setting was really lovely with lots of different seating areas.
Fab night out with delicious food & lovely service.
Yes we felt very safe there food was good but we didn’t like what the chef sent though complimentary , no problem in going back Regards Colin
What a lovely experience. I will definitely be going back!
