Sadly the scones were stale the wait was quite long between drinks being served & food arriving
We had a truly wonderful dining experience
Only negative the finger sandwiches were a bit stale, obviously been made a while and not covered. Overall though very enjoyable, staff were lovely.
Brilliant in every respect.
It was a gorgeous meal - completely delicious food (and drink) and friendly, professional service. It was four months since we had had a restaurant meal, and this was a perfect reintroduction. Thank you.
Our most favourite place in Norwich and Norfolk for Sunday lunch. Beautiful and comfortable surroundings. Attentive, warm and efficient staff. Wonderfully prepared and presented food. Excellent wines.
Excellent service and exceded our expectations under current conditions

An excellent meal in lovely surroundings. Staff quietly efficient and helpful. I wish we could return in the near future.
The hotel and the restaurant especially is a 'hidden gem' in Norwich. The service is excellent and the food compares with any top London hotel.
My friends and l really enjoyed our afternoon tea, we received good service, we arrived at 3:00pm and left at 7:30pm we were well looked after and we will definitely do it again
Would have given another star for service if more staff were available. Those who waited our table were friendly but service was very slow.
We came for afternoon tea on a Sunday afternoon. It was brilliant, all the staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was really tasty. We had mentioned it was a birthday and the staff arranged a special plate with happy birthday written on and presented it as a surprise. Everywhere was clean and staff were visibly adhering to covid guidelines. Would definitely recommend and we will definitely be back. Thank you.
Food was delicious. Service fantastic.
A very enjoyable afternoon spent enjoying Afternoon Tea. A very dainty selection of goodies, very tasty and delicious. All staff were very professional, polite and approachable. A very lovely hotel with wonderful furnishings and marvellous polished floors. The cloakrooms were spotless as were all other areas of the hotel, in fact everything was so highly polished that I didn't like to walk on the floor or touch the hand rails incase I made them dull. A wonderful car collection and a free car park too. This was my first visit but will definitely not be my last. Thank you to everyone who made my afternoon so special.
There were 3 waiters and it was Sunday night, so seemingly not that busy however we were seated out of the way near the exit and it took too long to get drinks topped up and order our next course. The staff were lovely, knowledgeable and immaculate however the time it took to get through the meal left our hunger unsatisfied.
Lovely meal, service a little slow but extremely polite,
Really enjoyed my meal.
Good menu and attentive staff. Room whilst historic is dark, dingy and the seating Is unattractive . The polished floor would be better matt not gloss. It’s warm enough but opening the roof blinds might enhance the room.
All the people in our party thought the restaurant was lovely, and food excellent. We did think that the gin & tonics were expensive! There was an entry on the bill that shouldn’t have been there that I had to query and get removed - this didn’t inspire confidence at the end of the meal which was sad. I would recommend to others, but advise check bill carefully! And be aware of bar prices.
The food was very very good, and I totally understand at the present time the need to have a reduced menu but saying that the current menu was far too limited.
A lovely afternoon enjoyed in the lounge, great value, excellent service by all staff we encountered, felt very safe in the current situation and all precautions are in place for an enjoyable visit. Highly recommended.
The food was superb, particularly the subtle flavour combinations on the a la carte menu. I was staying with my mother who has advanced dementia, the patience and consideration of the staff was wonderful, thank you.
Can i say Susan our waitress was fabulous, recommended very nice tea, nothing was too much fir her. The food was amazing. Also on leaving we chatted to the driver Matthew about the beautiful cars you have, he gave us lots of history on the hotel too. What wonderful staff you have, coming from from Italy we wanted something English, we will definitely come again soon and tell all our friends too.
Had the afternoon tea Food not as good as it was 2 years ago. Sandwiches dry, but the other savouries were nice and the dessert selection was too rich and sickly
