About White Lion
Join us at our restaurant at the White Lion Hotel in the heart of Aldeburgh.
Our food has been inspired by a desire to return to simple, 'back to basics' food and impeccable service, offering freshly prepared dishes in contemporary surroundings.
The restaurant menu includes the likes of fresh fish bought from Dean's Fish Shed, situated on the beach opposite the White Lion, to smoked kippers sourced from Pinney's of Orford.
Every ingredient used in the exciting dishes featured on the menu, has been 'hand picked' to guarantee an abundance of flavours.
We believe that eating out should be a fun experience, shared with family, friends and your canine companians. That's why not only can we offer children their own menu, also if you wish for something for you doggy friend we are happy to cook them a meaty meal.
Please note that your doggy friends are only able to join you at table in either our bar or lounge areas
Amazing breakfast at The White Lion, fabulous options, cooked to perfection (I have never before had such perfectly cooked poached eggs). Service was also fabulous. Well done Hotel Folk 5*
We enjoyed a one night stay at the White Lion having previously been in another hotel in Aldeburgh for four nights. White Lion staff were very welcoming, the room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, quiet and calm. Breakfast was served efficiently and was all very good. We have stayed at White Lion twice before and look forward to returning.
Our visit was very pleasant. All the staff were very accommodating especially during these difficult times.
Excellent stay considering difficult times.
4 days (3 nights) at the White Lion. Absolute bliss. We hope you manage to stay open in these dreadful times and wish ALL the staff all the very best. We shall continue to come as often as we can. Brian & Wendy
Always excellent Sunday lunch good value and great for us because you do a nut roast . One comment on the cheese cake weird to say this but it either needed the mango mixed into the cheese or more sugar as it simply was not sweet enough .
Can't fault anything. Choice of food and quality was excellent and all staff in the restaurant went out their way to help. A particular thankyou to Amy who served us both nights and was excellent.
Relaxing environment and we really enjoyed our stay. We will return.
A couple of nights at The White Lion, with a super dinner and full Suffolk Breakfast e.g. smoked haddock, or kippers, is worth every penny!
We have visited Aldeburgh many times over the last 27 years and it is our second stay at the White Lion with the Dinner B&B offer, and we were not disappointed. The accommodation is compact but comfortable, and the staff are always welcoming and helpful. Overall it offers very good value for money & thank you to Bethany for being so understanding about a late cancellation of one of the rooms we had booked. We will definitely be back in the next few months.
From start to finish - superb . Staff, and in particular the service provided was superb. Quality of food was excellent, with a well thought out, and executed menu. Hope this will be the first of many visits.
Best Sunday roast beef ever !
Excellent service but breakfast order wrong 2 days running. Lovely people couldn’t moan!!
Great hotel, clean and good location. The staff were excellent, personable, professional and clearly work together as a team. The food was very good and the room comfortable, we will stay here again.
Had a fabulous stay.....as always. Hadn't realised we'd booked a standard room though, as always go for a superior room as they're a little bigger. Invoice only stated 'double/twin seaview'. Had it also listed standard or superior, I would have noticed the error and been able to sort it out. However, we found our room cosy and comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed being there again. The food was completely delicious and all staff were friendly, professional, polite and obliging. Thankyou so much for a lovely birthday weekend.
Service in restaurant initially good but we seem to have been forgotten after the main course and we waited a long time to have the table cleared and our dessert choices taken.
Great food in lovely atmosphere
Very good afternoon tea,and service. Will come again .Thankyou.
Excellent evening meal, good quality food with good choice mene served in a lovely relaxed atmosphere by very pleasant, friendly staff
The food was first class and well presented .All the staff were very helpful and friendly. The restaurant and bar was very welcoming, Avery nice couple of days pity about the weather.
We had a spacious, comfortable room with lovely sea views. A totally relaxing break with well cooked food and excellent service. We will certainly book again.
Excellent stay. Great food, great service. Highly reccomended!
we were made most welcome, including our dog who had a comfortable bed waiting for him too.My grandparents stayed regularly in the 1940's and rated it very highly then, I'm glad to experience the same high standard!
We both enjoyed a really nice Sunday roast last weekend. Great, reasonably priced fixed menu. A relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. My only comment would be on a previous visit there was no ice for my gin and tonic!! Apparently the ice machine had broken down. If I had been warned I would definitely have chosen another chilled drink.
