It was good for the standard of food and services we got.
Lovely meal, food and drink were great and all the staff looked after us perfectly. We will definitely return.
The wheatsheaf stack that I ordered was really dry & the cheese on top was literally cremated!!! I left the bun & most of the burger. I didn’t realise from the description that it was a burger, I thought it was beef!! Apart from this on the whole our food was good. We couldn’t go outside either on a lovely evening as the whole area had been booked for a private party... very disappointing!!
Lovely evening, I will definitely be going back soon.
Beautiful venue with very attentive staff. Only had a light lunch of sandwiches and drinks, but very good value in lovely surroundings
Fabulous family meal to celebrate
Lovely evening meal and excellent service
been fortunate enough to hjave been here on several occasions food is always good and the ambience perfect. the menu was a disappointment from previous visits and mentioned this to the staff who advised that this week it was changing. liam the manager dealt with our observation promptly and professionally and will be looking to return to hopefully see a more diverse and varied menu. that said our steaks were perfect and the stilton sauce excellent.
A lovely evening..All 10 of us enjoyed our food and drink.Service was excellent.
Staff looked disinterested and just cleared plates without asking if we had finished. Waited ages between food ordered to being served even though wasn’t particularly busy. Steak baguette came with some sort of salsa on it which was not on the menu. When queried the waitress basically said ‘oh right does it not’. We came with the in laws as part of a £40 gift card and most certainly will not be buying it as a gift again.
A wonderful venue, great food & fantastic service from friendly staff. A perfect combination. We were made very welcome and nothing was too much trouble.
Enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch with my family and friends. Food was of a high quality and great value for money. Drinks were of a good selection also. Only negative was the service from waitresses/bar staff - very slow - weren’t asked if we would like to order more drinks from our table once so we had to go upto the bar and order and then drinks were forgotten and when we reminded they still took a long time to come. Only let down for us, everything else was fantastic.
I booked a table for myself and 2 friends, 1 of whom had been to the wheatsheaf 2 times previously. Having been previously she commented that the menu had been exactly the same on all 3 occasions and was a bit of a disappointment. On the two previous occasions she had ordered fish and chips as she had been unable to find anything else she wanted. The first time she had really enjoyed the dish, in particular the minted peas, however on her second try she had been really disappointed by the meal. On our visit she asked if she could have the minted peas again and not the mushy peas she had received on her second visit, the waiter was more than happy to assist and surely enough minted peas arrived and she was happy with them. I had originally ordered the vegeterian wheatsheaf bale, however was then told that there was no halloumi. This was a great disappointment as really the only other option was to join my two friends with fish and chips. When our plates arrived I found that my portion was much smaller than the others and my chips were over cooked. We decided to order pudding, myself and one of my friends both ordered the chocolate brownie and again my portion was much smaller, almost half the size of my friends. Even with the issues with the food I cannot fault the staff they were friendly and welcoming and very considerate when amending our meals to accommodate my friends requests.
Chips were half cooked, not double cooked. All staff were great
The service was excellent & the Wheatsheaf has a great ambience. My only gripe is that the portions were very small - especially the starters
Food always delicious. Staff professional and friendly. Cannot fault Wheatsheaf. We love it.
The service let’s the pub down. Drinks were slow coming out. The sauces never arrived when we were asked if we wanted any. No one asked how the meal was.
I would like to thank Chris and the Wheatsheaf team for a fantastic weekend stay at the establishment. The food and service were first class and the rooms and facilities were really impressive. It was a family event which was confirmed as a "special occasion" by the stay at the Wheatsheaf. We are all very grateful and will highly recommend the Wheatsheaf. Best Regards JJT (Cheshire)
The atmosphere and venue were perfect and prior the email exchange to arrange was really good. I would say rather expensive for what was included in the afternoon tea. Most guests were saying that at other venues there is much more variety- especially in the sandwiches. Cheese and salmon wasn't great. A lot of guests didn't like salmon. At other places you get ham, creme cheese chive, egg mayo etc too. Also other places offer quiche and little bits of different things. I think veriety is what needs improving on. Service was great though and we had a lovely afternoon. Many thanks. 😊👏🏻
Lovely surroundings, staff very welcoming and helpful. Food was good but service was slow and took us over half an hour to settle the bill waiting for a card machine. Overall a lovely evening but staff could be more on the ball as the restaurant wasn’t full.
The family celebrated my wife's birthday in one of the function rooms and the meal plus the service was excellent Our family will certainly return to the Wheatsheaf for other events.
We booked a surprise 18th meal for our daughter on 7th April for 27 people. The food was preordered. Delicious food, excellent service and a great atmosphere, an afternoon enjoyed by everyone thank you.
Great atmosphere, delicious food and excellent service, thank you.
Tasty food, quite expensive but nice for a special occasion,my 75 yr old Dad said not enough of it!! Good service. Drafty when door open... nice decor, enough choice but not spoilt for choice.
