Modern. Social. Dining
Great tasting food, cooked with love, and served just how you like it.
Pull up a chair and enjoy the cosy ambience of our Waterside restaurant or dine alfresco and enjoy the stunning views of the Oswestry waterways.
A meal at our Waterside restaurant is an unforgettable experience, a warm and friendly atmosphere will make you feel at home. Fancy a drink before dinner? Relax in our Library Lounge and choose from our extensive drinks list.
Whether you are staying with us, spending the day in our spa or want to enjoy our delicious waterside dining, we have a great selection of food and drink for you to enjoy.
Unfaultable. Excellent from start to finish. Special thank you to Charlotte an asset to Lion Quays and Waterside restaurant.
Most impressed with the Covid 19 safety measures. Even the cutlery is pre-wrapped. A very pleasant terrace to sit outside and watch the canal barges sail by.Crispy duck salad was very good but a little overpriced at nearly £15 I thought. Pleased that we had £20 deducted with the Eat Out to Help Out scheme.
Lovely evening celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary. Staff made it extra special accommodating us with specific table we requested. Special touch celebratory cake. Staff all very friendly and following Covid 19 guidelines. Would definitely recommend a visit. Thank you staff xx
Excellent evening meal, food was cooked to perfection, would of given 5 stars only a long wait on breakfast and when it arrived it wasn't very warm.
Lovely food, huge spirits menu, limited wine. We found it under staffed which reflects our review. Quite commercial and not much atmosphere(even some music would be nice!)
Dinners came out 20 mins apart to which time half of us had finished our food. Very very small portion on the Sunday lunch, we left hungry.
Took so long to even order, then our beer was forgotten. I’d finished my glass of wine and my fiancé still hadn’t got his pint.
Service was understandably not great because probably fewer staff are operating right now. The staff did the best they could. It is extremely difficult to hear what the waiting staff are saying with their double masks on.
Difficult times we know but the Staff here, given they were worked off their feet ALL night, worked hearts out to make sure everyone was safe & looked after as well they could be & ok service was a bit slow but my God these people were excellent. Just a bit more patience from the "I need a drink now" customers wouldn't go amiss! Well done everyone concerned your cheerfulness & commitment is a lesson to us all!!! They deserve a generous bonus Management!!!
Excellent service and food given the current difficulties. Unfortunately the decor is rather tired and some furniture stained. The outside areas need tidying and cleaning. Not currently 4 star standard.
Very slow service got a bit tedious. Pity, very nice in all other respects.
Lovely staff, very attentive, I felt very safe in these strange times, I would / will be returning.
You need to get the umbrellas fixed they are not doing what they are meant to do.They move when there is a little wind
This was our first meal out after lockdown. The staff really looked after us & all care was taken.
Staff were very friendly, welcoming and attentive. Unfortunately standard of food was a disappointment. Overpriced for what it was, although we were on the Dinner, Bed and Breakfast tariff. I’d say standard of food was on par with what you would expect from a 2 for £10 establishment. A couple of the choices on menu I would have preferred had ran out. There was no lime for the Corona Draught. We tried to order some cocktails after our meal but were told there were no cocktails available due to not having any fruit. This was disappointing as we were on an overnight spa break and you’d expect there to be cocktails at a restaurant which prides itself on it’s extensive drinks menu. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel in the newly refurbished suite which was beautiful and luxurious. We also used the gym and pool a couple of times during our stay, both were excellent and we are looking forward to returning, All the staff throughout the hotel, restaurant and spa were lovely.
Lovely meal at a lovely setting.
Very disappointed with the service staff seemed rushed off there feet . Desserts were returned twice gave up in the end. Portions were very small for the price that is being charged
A lovely aspect from the canal which was good to visit post lockdown. The interpretation of post lockdown rules requiring table service only left us seated yet waiting for anyone to look after us. It was clearly missing the publican in charge/manager to ensure staff were allocated to tables. Blinkers were in evidence along with visors and masks for mumbling through/ pulling down frequently to be understood. Food was lovely and watching the staff entertaining.
The food was lovely however, for example when served mussels no bowl of water was provided for hands. Toast was ordered at breakfast but never arrived. The food on the whole was delicious just some small tweaks could be made for better service.
Although reduced menu, food and service good. Felt safe- good social distancing measures-visors/face coverings worn by staff. Easy booking online. Lovely location, been several times over the years and also stayed at hotel a couple of times.
Your staff were very good under the current conditions. Their dedication to customer service was apparent across the board. Rooms very good and requests were dealt with immediately. The breakfast delivery to the table was of a very high quality and piping hot, nothing too much for the staff. The evening meal presentation was excellent and the quality very good. Thanks all round
Good Evening, I attended your WaterSide Bar 2 this afternoon for afternoon tea with my partner and a friend. After a 45 minute drive from Telford we were extremely disappointed. The service was terrible with a wait of 15 minutes for our drinks which on a busy day I would understand but with near to no customers I’m sure you can agree is unacceptable. When originally arriving we sat outside and was told someone would be with us to take our order, firstly we we’re given lunch menus not that of afternoon tea as per our booking but after waiting 10 minutes we had to go in to find staff ourselves and sat inside instead. While sat there we noticed one of your male members of staff just simply could not wear the face mask provided and instead it was constantly around his neck and no face visor which makes me concerned when he was constantly in and out of the kitchen area, amid the remainder were fully compliant mask and visor but the one young male member of staff simply had no idea how to wear a face mask nor did he have a visor despite serving food and drink. When ordering I asked if we could all have plain ham and cheese sandwiches only as we didn’t like everything else listed on your menu. The gentleman said yes however when the food arrived we had just ham and cheese sandwiches but with the lettuce and pickle etc still on. Due to this none of the sandwiches were eaten. As well as this the cake selection we were told we would receive was changed without asking first and we were given something different which I wasn’t happy we wasn’t told in advance as no one liked the cake that was provided, not only that the new cake contained nuts to which none of the original cakes did, as the cakes didn’t state nuts I did not mention it to the waiter however I didn’t expect a nut cake to be put on the plate as it wasn’t on the menu to start with and as somebody with a nut allergy this was concerning. When it resulted in leaving we noticed that we also could not find another way of leaving the building other than the way we came in although it said no exit. All in all we were all left extremely devastated with the service and feel it definitely was not worth the 45 minute drive there and back and will not be rushing back which is a complete shame.
Really good, efficient service, very attentive. Lovely food and good atmosphere. Xx
Felt extremely safe as have considered all areas regarding COVID. Meal was very nice and all staff extremely polite. The staff also recognised that we had waited a long time for desert to arrive and took off the bill. Will be coming back. Well done on the efforts put i place.
On what was such a difficult day for my fiancé and I, the lion quays made the day so special and lifted our spirits so well. So grateful that this is our wedding venue
