About Wagon & Horses
Boasting everything you could ever possibly want in a local restaurant cosy and traditional decor, seasonally changing menus of gourmet cuisine – all crafted from locally-sourced produce, of course – and a bar well stocked with different wines, craft beers and ales, and so much more, Wagon & Horses is always a favourite among the people of Lancaster. Equally as popular with visitors to the area, Wagon & Horses provides the perfect setting for a number of occasions. You’ll find Wagon & Horses located on St George’s Quay 5 mins from the city centre, overlooking the River Lune. To avoid disappointment, making a reservation at this charming restaurant & bar in advance is recommended.
The restaurant was closed and I wasn't informed even though I had booked and I even received a confirmation email.
As always, the food and service were both spectacular. I have never had a bad experience at the Wagon &Horses, in fact I've never even had a slightly below par service. Both food and staff are always fabulous. So sad they've chosen to close with the impact of Tier 3 but we'll be back as soon as they are back open!
Amazing food and friendly staff.
First time visit and will definitely be back!
Great service and lovely food
First time we've had a meal here, will be visting again. Food was fantastic, great service. All Covid secure as well.
We loved it. We ate on Saturday night and Sunday Lunch. Both lovely meals. Food, Staff and service fantastic. Would highly recommend. Congratulations guys! You deserve a pat on the back for creating such a great ambience at this difficult time.
As a family we love the Wagon and Horses. I had the steak pie which was packed with the tenderest of steak and the pastry was gorgeous. My husband loved his mussels and my daughter her fish and chips. You feel very safe with all the Covid requirements which have been put in place. You are always made to feel special at the Wagon and Horses, thank you
An issue with the meals that we were served was courteously, efficiently and speedily resolved, to our entire satisfaction. While the room was not large, it had everything that we needed to make our stay a pleasant one. We would thoroughly recommend the Wagon and Horses to anyone wishing to stay in Lancaster.
Food is beautiful staff are warm and friendly. Went out of their way to help as much as they could they took my partners chicken livers back and sent him out fresh because they where a little to pink for his likening (nothing wrong just his taste) glad you are open again and we can come back regularly x
Fantastic food, the changes in the kitchen have really taken the dining to a new level. Really really good
What a lovely find - the service, food and overall ambience was top notch. Thank you for nourishing us on a rainy Covid-19 lockdown Saturday. We will most definitely return and recommend
We visited for the first time on Saturday 3rd October as our son is at Lancaster university. It was very clean and covid secure, service was great and staff very friendly. What a find the food was absolutely amazing! Every single different dish we ordered was delicious. I would highly recommend this pub and I'm very happy we have 3 years of visits as I know where we will be booking every time! Just wow!
This place is well worth a visit if you are in the area. Some of the best Fish and Chips we have ever tasted, really tasty steaks and a cheese board which was fantastic. We will definitely be booking in here again if we are in the area.
Another delicious Sunday Dinner. Carole & Paul very hospitable as usual. Isaac, Kat & Lucy extremely friendly & competent. Looking forward to next week.
The only negative comment would be the hustle and bustle was missing , the noise of a busy pub sadly missing but that’s all due to Covid nothing at all to do with the Wagon &Horses. Beautiful food as always . Service excellent , lovely Sunday evening Thankyou x Ps please bring back the Creme Brulee 😃
Excellent food and service, providing good value for money. The Sunday roasts are superb as was the mille feuille.
Excellent food and friendly staff who are coping well with the COVID restrictions. We felt very safe and well cared for. We will be back again during our holiday.
Thanks for a lovely meal
Our last evening in Lancaster and so pleased we chose the wagon & horses. Lovely place and we had an enjoyable time with great food. Sorry we couldn’t return!
We love our local Wagon & Horses, we were delighted to be introduced to their new menu with new chef on our recent visit.... wow... really good food and great choice selection.... excellent!
Another excellent lunch! All dishes were superb. Staff very friendly & it’s a very safe environment.
We really enjoyed the food we had however we’re disappointed to be told the Sunday roast had sold out. We ordered something else only to find that the table that arrived after us ordered and were served a Sunday roast! We left feeling a little cheated.
Well maintained and presented hotel. Room was clean and fresh with lovely views over the estuary. Menu was different and imaginative with good quality food.
