About Vovem Meat & Liquor
Vovem is contemporary. Sophisticated. Innovative.
Offering a unique experience and authentic atmosphere, Vovem will be a bar and steakhouse of the likes Aberdeen has never seen before.
Above all, it oozes quality. Quality is a value at Vovem’s core, and it drives everything we offer, from our mouthwatering steaks to our on-trend bar and premium service.
We all enjoyed our meals and thought the services was very good.
I booked a table for Valentines weekend back in December. My partner and I had very much been looking forward to dinning at Vovum. Unfortunately, we were seated in a booth beside the till in the corner where we couldn’t see much of the restaurant at all apart from the staff ringing up bills. We felt like we missed out on the atomosphere the restaurant had to offer. It then took 40 minutes from being seated to the waitress coming to our table. We had not been given a drinks menu until I asked for one when the waitress finally came to our table. The waitress was nice and helpful. The food was good but not as amazing as we had expected. When comparing with Aberdeen’s other new steak restaurant Miller and Carter we had a much better experience there.
Super nice main course but a star short of 5 because the desserts were overly disappointing. Including the cheese board, which I was planning to share but upon arrival no chance of that (not enough cheese nor crackers to share!) Would encourage to miss out the desserts and stick to starter and mains (if you have the desire to have 2 course)
Delicious steak and very tasty side dishes (cabbage and bacon especially good!). Great, helpful staff!
This is Aberdeen’s number one steak restaurant
The food and portion sizes were great. We were given the wrong drinks and then given sparkling instead of still water and as it was busy t was hard to get a member of staff so it was not changed. We were also then brought the wrong sides with our steak, which was then sorted.
The steak was cooked lovely but the onion ring side dish is the worst I have ever had. The service was extremely poor aswell as the lack of communication between the people that was serving us especially for the amount of money you spend. The waitress seemed really stressed out and was trying her best but really not what you should be seeing for the money we paid for our meal. There is not a lot of choice on the menu and what is there I would say is very over priced. The steak is worth the money but charging nearly £5 per side dish and extra for sauce is extortionate. Do not think I will be back.
Service was a little slow, were there for an hour before our starters arrived. Food was lovely but pricey considering you have to order chips separately. Waitresses were really good.
Both steaks were chewy, were told by server that this was the kind of the beef, Had many different medium sirloins and never one that required as much chewing, my wife left most of hers. The sides were fantastic, sweets were a disappointment, again my wife left most of the dulce de Leche pudding, she said Was a big slab of stodgy sponge with some dulce de leche poured over the top. This we were told was vovems take on sticky toffee pudding, by no stretch of the imagine was this like sticky toffee pudding or anywhere near it. We received 20% off the steaks, which I think worked out less than what my wife had left plus the pudding almost untouched wasn’t charged. Also not sure what kind of service level you are aiming for, if it’s similar to tgi fridays then fine that’s what it is calling customers guys and perching their bottoms on the next table while they take the order, no attention to empty glasses, if it’s supposed to be quality service then you need to stop recruiting lots of young inexperienced untrained staff. This is an issue in Aberdeen in general though. Also if a customer complains about food the least the restaurant manager should do is come over and apologise. Shame that in Aberdeen there should be quality steakhouses and on this experience we still don’t.
the attention to detail was really lacking. Certain items from the menu were not available and this was not communicated until after we were asked for our order. The service was slow and our bill was then completely wrong, we were charged twice for everything.
The only negative to our visit was the 2 seat tables along the back wall were far to close together and we would be reluctant to make another booking if we sat there.
We had an absolutely amazing night. Food was truly brilliant. Alex was our server for the evening and was spot on for everything.
Second time I’ve been now. First was lunch which had good choice on express menu and reasonably priced. Great wine list. Second time for dinner and shared a tomahawk steak which was cooked to perfection. Sides really good too. Excellent service. Just a pity I don’t live in Aberdeen anymore, might try and get another visit in before I head to Australia.
Excellent food and great service. Highly recommend it!
A bit underwhelmed from start to finish. Cutlery was stained and needed wiping. Food was slow to arrive (there were more staff than customers). Sides were not dlivered at the same time as mains. Steak was over cooked. Medium-rare requested and yet there was no hint of pink - i would call this well done. Cauliflower cheese served luke warm. Limp, cold, chargrilled greenery served with steak was unpleasant. Steak was of nice quality but for the money being charged the whole experience fell very much short of the line.
Had a lovely meal, the service was great and the staff were very knowledgable on all products. Would be back again.
As a vegetarian, who doesn't drink alcohol, I was extremely well looked after and catered for! Our only complaint would be that the cocktails and mocktails we all received were incredibly sweet, almost like made from cocktail mixes - at such a classy establishment we would have expected that they be made from fresh ingredients..... that aside, the place is lovely, staff are extremely helpful and friendly without being over-bearing. Would definitely recommend and will certainly be back!
Excellent service by our waiter, Connor and by the manager. In depth knowledge of the menu amazing. Great anniversary meal with personal touch. We will be back!
The sort of place you'd find in New York and love
Lovely place for dinner, great atmosphere and modern restaurant. Chauteaubriand is was delicious - well cooked and full of flavour. Top marks! Sides were ok - potatoes were fine but broccoli was cold. Expensive sides especially considering other steak restaurants in Aberdeen include them for free with the purchase of a steak.
Restaurant and bar area were very cold. Had my jacket on most of the time. Many steaks not available. Food was ok, but not very hot. Disappointing visit.
A bit disappointed to be honest. Steaks were very nice but sides need more work. Not great choices. Onion rings inedible. Steak cut chips not great. Seems a bit much to pay extra for both potatoes and sides when paying for a steak. The sauce was ridiculously small, a dessert spoon full- we were told it had run out so the chef shared out what was left. Not good enough. Need better sauce choices. Friendly service though. Overall - Not nearly as good as miller and carter so won’t be returning.
Amazing local steak, knowledgeable staff and a lovely selection of drinks. The sides were also very well made and the atmosphere was good too. Overall a great, family run place
Excellent. Great atmosphere and service. Will be returning for sure
Great food and service, our guests were blown away... thanks for a brilliant evening.
