About Vine Eatery & Bar
Mediterranean & New Zealand Cuisine
Craft Beer, Fine Wine & Cocktail Lounge. Our talented chefs invite you to indulge in the dishes that have inspired our New Zealand and Mediterranean influenced menus. Our extensive tapas menu is designed to be shared, and we also offer a full a-la-carte menu for those wanting a more NZ traditional approach to dining.
We offer fabulous Coffee by Allpress Espresso, and Harney & Son’s Teas. Our full bar specializes in whisky, craft beer, and a huge wine selection reflecting over 25 years in hospitality.
There are many spaces to enjoy; sit around the fireplace, a variety of table and booth settings indoors and out, or for groups of ten or more there’s our private rooms upstairs – “The Balcony” and “The Vintage Room”.
Specializing in “Long Table Shared Plate Dinners”, Vine Eatery & Bar is the perfect place for larger groups who are looking for something a little different and entertaining. For this we offer affordable $50 to $65 menus, including a full tapa menu option at $49. All options include dessert and can be matched with some great beverages. For more casual gatherings we have amazing platters full of fresh delicious meats, seafood and local produce.

Wonderful long lunch with girl friends, given a quite booth, great service, the food was excellent, very extensive wine list, great experience all round, will definitely be back. Great being able to book on line.
Cocktail was great other food and dessert average, not worth the price
This is a great restaurant and with an amazing server Emily. This is the best service we have received anywhere in NZ and the Asia Pacific area.. Food fantasric Emily amazing.
Great service, food and atmosphere As we are Taupō Locals we intend to dine at vine again. our waitress was Emily and she was great.
We'd booked for a special occasion for my partner's 60th birthday. The food was great, but the service was disappointing. We were given food menus, then had to ask for wine menus, there was no explanation of the menu options, we asked about the platter but were just told it was a 'selection' and the waitress couldn't tell us what was included. We also asked about the special tapas menus that the website mentions at $49, or from $50-$65, as these didn't appear on the menus we were given, but the waitress didn't seem to know anything about them. After our mains, we had desert but after that we were just left - no one came back to offer coffee, etc., or the bill. In the end we just went up to the counter to pay. We'd also booked a table for 8 but emailed in the morning to say we'd only be 6 people - despite this we were given a table for 8 and had to ask for the remaining places to be taken away. This wouldn't normally be an issue but the size of the table made it very difficult for one of our party, who is slightly deaf, to hear. The music was also very loud - again, having explained it was a small dinner for a 60th birthday I would have expected we'd have been seated somewhere more appropriate. I'd also emailed a week before to ask if we could arrange a special desert with candles for my partner, but got no response. To sum up, we'd certainly recommend the food, but were really disappointed with Vine as a place for a special celebration.
The squid was amazing, we were so pleased that we had 5 tapas for 2 of us. Our waitress was fabulous and knowledgeable about the menu. Loved the wooing tree Blondie and Pinot Noir. We will return. Thanks. Jan
Great night and we got the best table! Food was amazing and good value - would highly recommend a visit to the Vine - we look forward to dining there again soon!
We had a birthday brunch/lunch for 10 people. We had the best time, a huge thank you to Barbara our awesome waitress. The service, food, beverages were excellent. We would highly recommend the Vine Eatery. We will return. Thank you.
Great venue for my family gathering. Convivial and friendly staff, great service. The platter food was divine and plentiful. World standard plus. Thank you so much
Beautiful meal! Great portions and delicious meals 😊 service was amazing! Thanks Emily! Will definitely be back next time we’re in town
The vibe was great! Loved my lamb salad and the sticky toffee pudding was delicious!
Very enjoyable evening 😊
Very enjoyable experience overall
Lovely ambience, service and food :)
Incredible wine selection at very good prices. Friendly, Knowledgeable, always willing to help.
The service was fantastic - the waitress was really friendly and attentive to our requests.....Love the vibe of the place and the interior decorating. We have dined here a few times now.
Some of the best food we have had in Taupo for many years. Great atmosphere and design. We really enjoyed are meal. Only let down was the desserts, Chocolate Lava cake was not up to the standard of the rest of the menu. (Not baked fresh, and not much lava). We will definitely return as the share plates were outstanding.
Excellent food and service
Great food, great service, amazing place and the live music was nice.
Service was excellent as always. The meals were good although the Flounder was dry and in the end uneatable. May try again but not for a while
We had a wonderful family dinner recently. The food, a large selection of tapas, was fantastic.
Awesome spot, great service even when we didn’t like a drink, server took it straight off the table and offered another drink. Food was delicious however the potatas bravos was disappointing
Our waitress Emily was lovely, we loved being able to choose from your wine wall. There were some beautiful, reasonably priced wines. Food was great & there was a nice, buzzy atmosphere
Great atmosphere and wonderful range of quality food and wine. Thank you!
Great restaurant, great service and great food. First time there and really enjoyed the experience - would thoroughly recommend the restaurant. A real winner. Tony Kidd, Auckland
