The name reflects our goal – to become the hub and focal point of our community & for those from further afield! We also chose it because of our location (union of roads) and our belief as to what a truly local restaurant should be (union of people).
We are interested in achieving prominence based on consistency & quality rather than publicity. The seasonal dishes are modern & well-balanced, with just a few ingredients. The wine list is adventurous and keenly priced, and the service is professional while appearing casual and friendly. All of which can be enjoyed in a stylish contemporary space.
It would be nice if some changes could be made to the Early Bird.As a local I would then be inclined to visit more regularly. I always choose the chicken which is lovely, but not a dish I would want every time I visit for an Early Bird.Am not keen on seafood. With regards to the beefcheekburger, the name sounds off putting to me!My sister has eaten it and found it fatty. The decor is absolutely lovely. The staff are great, always pleasant and smiling.
Consistently good food and service and the cocktails are to die for!
Excellent service, very warm and nice atmosphere! The staff is very friendly! Thank you, we will come back!
excellent food, friendly service
Great service and exceptional food.
We had a wonderful time on both occasions!
I’ve never experienced service like this. The waiter was nowhere to be seen when it came to things like getting us water, dessert menus, a clean glass, or when one of the sides was missing (arrived after we finished our meals). However, he constantly came to our table when our wine was low asking if we wanted another glass. At the end of the night, we said we’d have one last drink, and two of us ordered a glass of wine each. The 3rd person in our party (my mother) said twice that she didn’t want anything else to drink. I asked did she want a brandy as a nightcap, she said no but I checked again to see if she was sure. She reluctantly said ok and the waiter said “ok so a glass of red, glass of white and a double brandy” and then laughed. We laughed too, presuming he was joking, my mother is in her 80s and it was obvious she just wanted the one that she ordered. When we got the bill, we had been charged for a double (€19!!) and we presumed it was a mistake, and queried it with the waiter, who response was “of course she wanted it, didn’t she drink it?” And “it was obviously a double in the glass” . We didn’t examine the contents of the glass when it was handed to my mother !! We had to pay for the double. We felt like he was pushing drinks on us to increase the bill but wasn’t interested in other elements of service, we were just being an inconvenience. He also wasn’t impressed that we ordered two starters between 3 of us. (The couple at the next table said the same.) The food was only ok, very disappointing considering the price tag. The sauces on both the fish and steak was watery. We got our mains 2 hours after sitting down even though the restaurant had emptied out (it was busy when we first arrived). The bill was nearly €200 but the experience was both disappointing and irritating due to the ‘drinks-pushing’. I will not be returning.
Very good and warm welcoming, delicious food, great music! Thanks for the moment!
Food is really nice but it’s very expensive for a local restaurant, would visit a lot more if better value for money.
Has a most enjoyable evening with delicious food and drinks. Love this fantastic neighborhood restaurant. Can’t wait until my next visit!
Staff very friendly
Burger was not made fresh and the 'crisp bacon' was fatty and cold and had never been crisp. Very basic for the price you're paying. Cocktail are also nothing but flavoured syrup. Incredibly disappointing and need to lower their prices if that's the standard of food they're putting out.
exquisite food, the new menu brings the best seasonal flavours complimented by the depth of the wine list. Certainly one of the best places in Dublin I seek out to eat.
Well the steak was dissapointing but everything else was perfect
It was my birthday dinner with my partner and we both really enjoyed everything we had here. We would come back when we have chance in the future.
From reputation I was expecting exception, but I'm afraid it was only average.
Left waiting 20mins for bottle of wine.
My 2nd time there for dinner, the food is great and its a nice athmosphere. My only complaint is the Toilets are not great for the venue, the floor in the one I used is all cracked and there was a pool of water in the cracks, there was paper towels thrown on the floor and there was none available to dry my hands
Union 8 has a lot of potential. Really nicely decorated and laid out, good menu and atmosphere. However the service wasnt great and my meal for it's cost was pretty basic and the chicken was undercooked.
Lovely place and the food was excellent. The staff were also super friendly and extremely helpful. We will definitely be back.
Food was very good, portions are small, service is slightly slow for business lunch market. Overall an enjoyable lunch and we would go back.
Fantastic all round folks, a very nice restaurant and one of the nicest meals we've had in a long time.
Excellent customer service, was made to feel so welcome and special , food was superb and we felt very relaxed being there
Lovey restaurant, fantastic service with delicious food!
