About Turtle Bay Nottingham
Welcome to Turtle Bay Nottingham
Rum.. Reggae.... Jerk... Caribbean eating and drinking... it's at the heart and soul of island culture.
Our food is inspired by laid back beach shacks and street vendors of the Caribbean. From fragrant jerk marinades, to slowly simmered curries there’s something for everyone. It’s not just about spice either, for us it’s all about FLAVOUR – we spend months crafting each dish until it tastes just right. And just like a beach shack in the Caribbean, the food is just the beginning. Wash down with a cocktail (or two), sit back and be transported to a world where conversations and reggae beats flow long into the night.
A bit pricey but very nice cocktails and seafood platter as a starter was amazing!
Hi last night we came for a meal with a group of 12. The food was delicious, the table service was quite good but unfortunately the bar service and welcome was uncharacteristically downbeat and very slow. We arrived at 8.00 on a Saturday evening and there was only one bar staff serving, two other trainees washing glasses, many customers waiting and bar staff lacking their usual vibrancy ! Quite odd for turtle bay !
I love this place. Always excellent food, friendly staff and a colourful, lively atmosphere. What more could you ask?
Was very dissapointed in the service - the lady looking after our table had no warmth and seemed more interested in coming across ‘cool’ than actually engaging with her tables. Sadly, the same went for a male member of staff who served our meals. The cocktails are vastly overpriced and contained minimal actual spirits, and we waited approx 20 minutes for them to arrive. Such a shame as we haven’t been for years but it’s really put me off going back again.
Great food, great cocktails, great atmosphere, love it here
Our server Jack was lovely!
Bar service was slow as only 1 person serving. Table wasn't ready at bookes time. Table service generally good but took ages to get the bill after we requested it. Food was nice and requests to swap rice options was no problem.
Great music, great atmosphere, great food and great service we loved the place
Lovely food, was served by the girl with blue hair and she was friendly all night, nothing was too much trouble
We (six of us from UK, Singapore and Australia) had a really brilliant afternoon with you last Friday. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully cooked, and we loved the cocktails too. Our servers were everything we could have wanted, and more - friendly, attentive, helpful and efficient. So 5* on both of those without question. 4* for atmosphere, as the restaurant temperature was cooler than we would have liked and not quite enough 'proper reggae' music, and 4*+ for VFM as a few dishes on the menu seemed a bit expensive for what they were. Will we come again? Without a doubt! Thank you all very much for a great experience. (Rob)
The restaurant is too busy and as such the service fails. Too many people at the bar makes waiting time on drinks too long. When turtle bay first opener he service was good. Over time this has deteriorated and there is a lack of customer service. I complained about waiting times and was simply told “it’s because we are busy”. It a shame as all the right ingredients are there for this to be a great restaurant, but the service and waiting times are poor.
Although the food was amazing, it was all ruined by inattentive service. After we finished our meal, we were left waiting with dirty plates for 45 minutes and ignored all the time even though there were multiple staff members walking by. We asked for a bill twice and were ignored and forgotten each of the time. When we mentioned our concerns to the manager/supervisor he laughed and didn't take us seriously. Very disappointing visit.
Enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff make you feel welcome. Oh and the cocktails are great.
Always a great experience visiting Turtle Bay Nottingham. The staff are amazing. Gorgeous food and drinks.
Atmosphere was good although the music was very loud and so it was hard to talk on the table. Noticed a lot of other tables straining to hear too. The waitress also seemed to be struggling to hear which also meant that there wasn’t really a good amount of banter or relationship with the waitress. At end of night we were given a dessert and coffee menu. Decided to order some coffee to then be told that there was no milk- this was at 9pm. If you knew there was no milk then you should have stated this when giving out the dessert menu. Also the location of turtle bay is very close to shops which would have been open to go buy some milk. All in all a bit disappointed about this as I’m sure we would have stayed for longer and had more drinks if this had been the case.
Service was bang on, food was piping hot and really tasty, couldn’t really ask for any more! Oh yeah the cocktails were decent as well ☺️👌🏼
The most delicious Caribbean food I’ve ever had! Cocktails was great, service was amazing. 1100% come there again and already recommended it to friends.
The service delivered by the waitress was quite poor. She messed our order up, our main side dishes came out before our starters. Service wasn't very good overall. Food and drink was nice.
Food is okay and over priced.
Fantastic food , drinks, staff, one of my favourite places to eat.
Could have done with a slightly bigger portion of food, I had the sweet potato curry. I had the chocolate pot pudding & it tasted like it had chilli powder in it not spiced rum & was way too spicy & I couldn't finish it. Staff were great, loved the atmosphere.
Gorgeous food, great atmosphere
