About Tracks and Records
Authentic Jamaican flavours and vibe
I celebrated my birthday there and I was not disappointed. The staff were friendly and professional. I have since recommended it to my work colleagues and they are all looking to book an evening out in early January
This isn't a negative review, just an honest one. The place is still new so teething problems were expected and I'm sure it'll get better in time. We had a Monday night reservation that was booked 2 months in advance and 3 weeks before we were asked to pre-order our dinner choices. We didn't mind as we were expecting it to busy in the run up to Christmas. However on the night our pre order hadn't been ordered, despite calling to confirm 2 days prior, but we were assured everything on the menu was available. We weren't in a rush so it didn't bother us until we were told by another waiter that the veggie lentil burger wasn't available and should have been taken off the menu ages ago as their suppliers couldn't deliver. This was annoying for the veggie of the group who's only option at this point was a salad, chips or a fish dish that she didn't actually want but ordered anyway because she was hungry. The food came in good time, we probably wouldnt have noticed too much of a wait anyway as we chatted over drinks and exchanged our secret Santa gifts. The feedback from my group is that the food was just ok, nothing to write home about apart from the rum cake dessert. That was lush. Our waiter Ali was friendly and helpful and offered us shots of rum punch (with extra Wrey) for all the mix ups which we happily accepted. He apologised numerous times which we fully accepted. However I can't say the same for the rest of the staff. We felt pretty much ignored waiting to be seated so had to announce our arrival to someone clearing dishes as opposed to being greeted at the door/desk. We then sat at the bar to order drinks which also had us feeling ignored. Eventually had to interrupt the bar staff's conversation just to get a menu. We found the barmans attitude quite rude to be frank. I ordered a Wrey and Nephew with ginger beer only to be told there wasn't enough Wrey in the bottle to make a drink. So I asked to try the rum punch which I found quite weak and asked if I could get what was left of the Wrey added to it. I was told no because the waiters would drink it later. He then went ahead and rolled his eyes telling me about the 100 other types of Jamaican rums I could have instead. Patronising much? Overall the space is nice, not what we were expecting but it's clean and we'll lit. It's a shame at 1030pm a week before Christmas we were the last guests still dining and staff had begun clearing up around us. We were asked for our dessert choices whilst still eating our mains and last drinks at the bar was also announced around the same time. Even the music was switched off. Recalling my original email chat with Kalli and Tori to make the booking, their downstairs bar with music till 1am was mentioned and offered as an after dinner suggestion so it was a shame to feel so rushed out. But not before seeing what was going on downstairs. Not much really, apart from the waiter/dj playing some rap music we didn't care to hear let alone dance to. It's a big space and has potential to be a fab dancefloor on the right night for sure. I wouldn't recommend Tracks & Records if you're looking for great food but if you enjoy checking out new places like we do then go see for yourself. We made the most of it and had a fun night regardless.
Slightly disorganised with the initial booking and Christmas menu. However on the day we received a great service, everyone enjoyed their meal accompanied with our complimentary rum punch. After eating we made our way downstairs to party. A really good vibe overall!!
Dear Track and Records, I would like to Thank each and everyone of you that looked after my Guests on the 7th December at 6pm - Work Party and also 16th December 3pm. I had over 30 Family Members and we had such a Lovely Time. the Service was absolutely Great. the Staff so organised. The Starters to The Main & Dessert, as for the Cocktails, they were outstanding. The Manager and All the Staff and Chef's, Music, Décor, Perfect. We took lovely Pictures and all Age group had so much fun. Once Again, I wish Tracks and Records all the Best for the Future, and if there are any promotions, please let me know. One very Satisfied Customer. - Money well spent
I found the place to be rather cold as the air con was on. Nice pleasant atmosphere The service was ok With the value for money; it's been a while since I paid for a meal so I wouldn't like to comment. My son was most disappointed that there was no Macaroni on the lunch time menu; and where were the black chefs?
The starters and desserts were gorgeous as was the jerk main. The curry goat main wasn’t goat it was lamb and quite fatty but did have a great flavour and was really well presented. Staff were great. Didn’t realise gratuity was included on the bill until after I’d paid so that was a surprise.
Great food and service. We had the Christmas menu and they were happy to accept a few last minute changes on the day. Our waitress was lovely and patient. She definitely contributed to a great afternoon. Staff were also helpful enough to provide us an area by the bar which was really appreciated when our time at the restaurant table was up. Will definitely recommend. Nice cocktail list with an extensive number of rums on the menu. I enjoyed the rum punch and my fellow diners enjoyed their cocktails too.
The food was cold when it arrived, red pea soup starter had so much red peas you could hardly find the broth under it, meat was tough, spinner was good though; main course jerk chicken was served with a standard bread roll from Sainsbury’s/Tesco not hard dough bread as advertised - we mentioned this and the waitress sheepishly explained that what they had as she knew we knew the difference, chicken was very dry; Curry goat main - meat was chewy, asked for hot and it would appear all they did was throw more curry powder on it - so texture was grainy. Drinks was good. This was my second visit - whilst there were issues with the first visit, we put that down to opening teething problems. To be honest was not really impressed so won’t be going back any time soon. Sad tho ☹️
Unfortunately the food was sub standard, I highly dout bolt would eat the food that was being served. They must re think the way the food is cooked and prepped as it seemed like oven food. The floors where really dirty, host was rude and other workers have not been trained properly. With better management it could be great.
The fizzy soft drinks are massively overpriced for the size. You are almost penalised for not drinking alcohol. Considering Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee is world famous there was no coffee on the menu. One of the soft drinks we did have was served in a chipped glass. The food was mass produced Caribbean food it was nothing special. The food served at "Limin" in Spitalfields market is better by far and significantly cheaper. I expect the venue will work as a bar and club but the restaurant is poor.
everyone was very impressed with the food and service on Friday, everyone had a great time Thank you
Unfortunately, the food wasn't authentic enough - not enough flavours and spices. Rum punch tasted just grapefruit juice with a hint of rum. Such a shame as we were really looking forward to it. Music is good however, for a Saturday night, everyone was ready to leave by 11pm.
Great food and lively atmosphere. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
Loved the venue and had a great time. Only point I'd make - please don't fall in to the same category as every other London venue and have a commercial music playing! I've been to Tracks and Records before and you had Release D Riddim playing and other DJ's who were much better than the one playing on Friday night - that's why I chose the venue! When several of our party asked the DJ to play Soca, he said he wasn't allowed too and he had to keep the music commercial! We came to tracks and records to avoid that - otherwise, you don't become the place of choice for something different so please, please, please, fix that.
Excellent excellent excellent We enjoyed every moment of it. The customer service was exceptional- thank you so much, thus really helps when your hungry, cold and frustrated. The venue is absolutely lovely, the music was amazing with so much vibes. Candy your waitress was exceptional- for us she should be awarded staff of the month! She was attentive, professional and her smile was effectious. I think we will defo come back because of her to give her more tips. Now the food was amazing - the taste was on point. The cocktails was great too... with this we stumbled down the the dance floor which again was exceptional. We are so pleased Thanks
Service would have been 5 star but we each asked for curry goat and and white rice but we received just one curry goat with rice and peas. This was promptly changed and the second dish for me came shortly afterwards. The staff were attentive and I have to say we were very satisfied and indeed, relieved, after reading some very negative reviews.
Had much better food at take away spots in Brixton. Manager was giving everyone a hard time. Fighting with the kitchen staff in-front of whole restaurant. Music was blasting min 90s R&B. Some easy dub or old school reggae would have been more expected.
I liked the atmosphere of this restaurant very much and I really enjoyed the music. The chicken wings that I had for starters were amazing but the main to me didn't taste very Jamaican at all. I had the curry mutton but the mutton was tough and didn't really have a Jamaican colour or taste so was a bit disappointing. My cocktail was very tasty though.
Food was A1
Decorated really nice, staff polite, lovely rum punch and that's where it ends. The food was bland, portions silly and its evident that the food has been commercialised, this is not genuine 'Jamaican food'. We had jerk spring roll, red pea soup which nearly slipped out the bowl, as it was like water! Curried Goat, which had carrots in it? I have never seen that! Lastly the jerk platter, the highlight of that dish was the dumpling..... we could have thrown it across the restaurant and knocked someone out LOL. Such a shame this restaurant is like this, Usain seriously think about stepping away from this venture!
Wonderful atmosphere... loved it, including bolts selection of music
This is the second time coming to the restaurant. The first time was to good, had to bring mum and her best friend. The service let me know, it was not good. I was not going to pay the service charge, but the waiter took it off. He himself know the service was bad. Waited to long for our main meal. When we finished, our plates was on the table, I had to ask the waiters to please take it away. It was like they was not interested in getting a tip. I will be back as the good was lovely. X
Lovely service from our waiter Nathanael. We had a great Xmas meal together. Bammy portion was small and dry.
The food was very nice. I had Appleton barbecue wings and jerk chicken platter. It wasn’t as nice as in Jamaica but almost :) I have been to the one in Ocho Rios too. The bar area and the cocktails was also good with a nice atmosphere. Only downside was the seating in the restaurant. The tables for two were way too close to each other and the area wasn’t cozy. I was disappointed as the restaurant is so new. Also a plus would have been if there had been hot drinks with the dessert (like coffee, blue mountain maybe) served with alternative milk (almond/oat milk), as they did cater to vegetarians in the food menu. Overall still very nice but could have easily been even better 😊
