The curry goat needs attention...
It’s only been open a week and I’ve already been twice! Loved the atmosphere, food and cocktails are amazing! Thanks to Tori for fitting my friends and I in with a table last minute! Not too long before I’m back 😊
I was there with my girlfriend and two children on the opening night. We were put on, what seemed like the smallest table in the venue. We asked if we could be moved or to add another table, but was told we could, but we'd have to vacate the table in an hour. I appreciate that it was busy and your opening night and this isn't even my main complaint - I just mention it because things got worse as the night progressed which has resulted in my overall rating! As we were looking at the menu the waiter (who was very attentive) reeled off, what seemed to be a very long list of items that you did not have. You were missing items on the opening day?? We then ordered cocktails. A few minutes later the waiter came back and said that you didn't have one of the cocktails we'd ordered!! My girlfriend ordered a jerk dish which was the size of a starter and was missing a Festival, but had, what looked like, a roll from Sainsbury's. The table next to us ordered the same dish and seemed to have a lot more than my girlfriend!! My curried goat was so salty that I couldn't eat it. We ordered several portions of chips, but they didn't all come. Reluctantly I politely complained and was offered replacements, but we declined. We then ordered dessert for the kids, but were told that you'd run out of chocolate ice-cream! Seriously. You'd run out at the very first sitting on your opening night? Throughout the night, waiters attempted to deliver food to us that wasn't for us. Then the bill came and it had items which we hadn't eaten or ordered. An amended bill was brought and a lot of items had been taken off. Staff were very apologetic and I could see they were embarrassed. The restaurant clearly wasn't ready to be opened that night and it's a shame because based on this experience I'm unlikely to recommend it or come back myself. Very disappointed.
Had a great time at the opening! The food was great, atmosphere amazing. Would definitely go back again!
Chicken wings and prawn starters .....yum. Sea bream with festival.....the bream lacked flavour, quite bland. I asked for a fresh portion of festival because it was too hardlll
We wait one hour for our main meal. A portion of rice is much smaller than anywhere that i have eaten. The menu did not have much choices for none meat eaters all the dinners around us complained of much the same thing very slow service small portion and lack of seasoning. We're not saying the chef should over season it with salt. This restaurant is beautifully decorated and has potential to be a big hit once these small things have been sorted out. Downstairs has bar where customers can chill after there meal or while waiting on a table.
It is early days for the restaurant I am sure the service and staff knowledge will pick up. Their need to be a full drinks menu on the tables
Very disappointed with the poor quality of the food! I had curry goat! And honestly my 10 year old can and would do a far better job. No taste gravy was watery!!( Disgusting!)90% of what is on the menu online is NOT on the in house menu. False advertising! My husband jerk chicken was burnt so bad! My daughter fry fish didn’t have any taste! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO NOT EVEN MY DOG! The staff was polite! That’s the only positive! Waste of my money! I honestly would be very satisfied if I buy the same meal in Vauxhall market. Disappointed!!! 💯
The venue itself is lovely. Front of house staff was quite rude and not helpful, but the waiters/waitresses/barmen were lovely. Its the first week of opening and you can tell some of the staff are new and still learning but i'm sure this will get better in the next couple of months. Food (curry and rice) overall a bit dry for my tastebuds but the flavor was great. The side dishes are tiny portions in case you want extras. Cocktails were lovely, but again, probably because it was the first week of opening, we had to wait half an hour for our drinks when ordering from the table. Again, i'm sure this will improve
Food flavours were lovely and how you would expect them to be (authenticity wise) The mains portions could be a little bigger but were still good and It'll be even better when they open up the menu with more dishes as it was a little limited as were their cocktail selections compared to what's listed on the website but I am guessing that's to be expected with a new opening. Definitely worth a visit !. I'm looking forward to returning once they've got into their groove as the food flavours were really good. The atmosphere was great and I'm liking the added bonus of the large dance floor and seating area downstairs with a DJ and bar. It had such a nice feel to it all
We waited an hour and a half for food. The jerk chicken was far too burnt! Jerk pork was so dry. Full menu as online wasn't available which was really disappointing. Should be rice instead of 2 thin toasted breads, not filling enough for a main. Waiters looked stressed as did management which was uncomfortable to see.
Staff were efficient and polite. The restaurant is beautiful and the food was great. Will be returning sometime soon. Highly recommend
The food tasted authentic. I had Jerk pork and it tasted like how I would consider Jerk pork to taste. Other major Caribbean restaurants in London tend to create what I would consider 'imitation' Caribbean food (I hail from a Jamaican family who ran a food stall at Notting Hill Carnival for a few years). Though the pork tasted good, when it was presented with those who had ordered the Jerk chicken, the size of the portion looked considerably smaller in comparison. It would be better if they are both similar sizes to limit food envy amongst dining companions. I have put the 'value for money' at 3/5 as my sister's rum cake came as the thinnest of thin slices with overheated lumpy cream. The staff, however, were more than happy to rectify this (though the slice still remained thin). It was great to see the vast selection of rum available, and promising to hear that the restaurant is strongly considering future rum tasting events. This is a great area to expand into and become a USP for the restaurant. The cocktail list has some new and exciting drinks. I tried the Sorrel Berry Daiquiri which tasted great the first time but completely different the second time! I understand that in these pre-opening days the bartenders are still getting their heads round the list but, as an FYI, I preferred the fruitier version!! I cannot comment on the atmosphere as we were the only people in our section. We did venture downstairs to an area that looks promising but, as these are early days, there was no one there. The staff were great and patient with our group. They were realistic about expectations and explained that the restaurant is still new and figuring things out. With this honesty, it felt like we were being listened to and were a part of something which we hope will succeed come the grand opening in November. As an added note, Usain Bolt is a big deal for the Caribbean community. Finding ways to tap into and celebrate the London Caribbean community with events etc. will add to the restaurant's authenticity.
Prior to the launch evening, though social media advertising; I was very excited to attend and most deffinately wanted to book a table. The location is great, a Caribbean restaurant/bar was needed to bring in diversity in to the area. The venue design lacked seating by the bar area. The food area, couples should of been more intimate rather than being place with a group. The venue is not as spectacular as in Jamaica. Reception greeted us well and immediately said our table was not ready for 7.30pm. We brought cocktails and chilled downstairs listening to music. We waited till 9pm to be seated. We ordered starters and main dishes, we left the venue around 10.45pm without eating nothing what we ordered. No management team came out to explain to customers why there's no food, what's the issues are and no apology. Orders were still being taken knowing well there was a problem. No estimation on how long food was going to take. I Staff were very disheartened. I felt that there was no opportunity to sample any of the dishes throughout the launch. No samples of cocktails/food only complimentary Prosecco to mask issues thats were occurring. The entertainment was minimal, a steel pan player and background music. Wev'e organised events in the past and I appreciate that hiccups may arise, no matter how much planning you do prior. However, its how you manage them on the night and afterwards. I'm sorry, this was a disaster and I'm sure the managing director Gary Matalon, who was their on the night, should of intervene and taken control of the whole situation. However, on the positive side. There's always room for fine tuning and growth. We deffinately, want to visit the venue again and embrace this journey. All the best Joyce & Steve xx
Starters are lovely . The main was a bit dry (jerk pork) Drinks are amazing
Staff who are servers need to know the price of single or doubles at the bar. Everything else was nice!
Virtually impossible to get through to the restaurant by telephone! Had to go to the restaturant in person to make a reservation... When we arrived for our reservation was then told that we need ID for 18 year olds, surely this requirement would of been conveyed to you when you booked in person or even specified on the website. Hence we were not able to eat in the restaurant. Wont be repeating the experience...
So I made a booking for a large party of 30 a few weeks in advance. The night before our reservation around 9pm, I received an email asking for people to submit their orders ahead of time. This is the first of only three bad points to be made. With a party that size, immediately upon booking we should have been given much more notice that we need to order our dishes ahead of time; we received just 21 hours. Anyhow, the day of our reservation, things mostly went very smoothly! Despite some late arrivals in my party, the staff was quick to accommodate us and take our orders. Bad point, as other commenters have mentioned, was the drink making. Some drinks had an insane amount of ice so that two sips and it was literally done. For the 9.50 price, that's unacceptable. They did correct this as the night went on and many of the guests in my party got TURNT and really enjoyed the drinks. FOOD: Contrary to what other commenters said, the food was very DELICIOUS and FLAVORFUL! I personally had the buffalo jerk wings and goat curry. The wings were excellent and the coconut ranch dressing is something I want the recipe for. A perfect pairing. The goat curry was served in a generous portion with no bones - a rarity in London. A tostone on the side. It was super delicious. Another guest of mine had the jerk egg rolls and that was a truly unique and inspiring fusion dish. Very exquisite. Another guest who is Jamaican had the jerk pork and just kept a big smile on his face all evening. He said it was some of the best he had outside of home in this city. He remarked that he could taste that it had been smoked and he loves their combination of jerk seasonings. A few other guests had the jerk chicken and said the same. A few guests had the whole and filet fried fish and really loved it. Fresh, and cooked just the right amount of time. One thing everyone RAVED about was the festival - people wanted seconds and thirds! So, all I can say is that people giving bad reviews to the food just haven't had good Jamaican yet. As a group of black professionals, take our word for it. The last gripe I will make was that a guest in my party was finishing her meal late because she was served late, and a manager came over to tell her table that they had to leave because another party was coming in. Apart from being extremely rude, my guest was literally mid-bite when this was said. In the end, if I am not mistaken, I don't believe I saw the party of 30 after us come in, so this was a bad business practice since we knew we only had the table for two hours. The servers coped well, split our bills by table with no drama, were friendly and attentive through the service. Afterwards, we went to the late lounge downstairs. It was very well-staffed, had super fun bartenders who danced, good drinks flowing, and dance floor spillages mopped and dried instantly - never seen that in a club atmosphere! They kept things nice and clean, and it showed they were working hard to create a pleasant experience. Special shout out to the 6'10" bouncer who was super kind and just a wondrous sight to behold for many in my party hahaha! Cool guy, and you rarely see them so tall in London! OVERALL: We will definitely be back. Everyone in my party of 30 had a fantastic evening, all with smiles, all well-fed and all enjoyed the drinks mixed. Thanks for helping us have a great evening!
The service was slow and chaotic it took over 45 minutes just for our drinks order to arrive . The food was simple dishes but jerk chicken with bread on the side ? And a tiny moth full of coleslaw I did not think was value for money. The vegetarian stews was so hot it was not edible ! As for atmosphere and vibe it lacked this too .... just a loud over crowded space with no music and staff running around like headless chickens
Great decor and furnishings. Menu was limited but understood reason being a new restaurant. Curry goat was a bit bland and some dishes were not hot. Fush dishes were lovely. Drinks mixed were very disappointing and had to be replaced 3 times. Lounge area was great and definitely have a good vibe. Waitress was excellent and very attentive. If the food is seasoned better and the bar staff improve in making straightforward drinks, then will be a great restaurant. Good start with teething. Problems. Intending to return shortly to Experience again and hope to see improvements.
When i arrived i got told my booking was for drinks only... luckily there was space in the restaurant as me and my friend was able to sit down and eat. The food was very prompt, followed with drinks. I know its a start for Tracks and Records and i can guarantee i will be back at a later date
The food was amazing. I loved it ... the cocktail i ordered was nice and I loved the atmosphere. Definitely would come back again.
