About Thali Totterdown
Neighbourhood restaurant packed full of exciting Indian flavours in the heart of Totterdown.
Great service, food was tasty and presented well. I couldn't finish it all so took the rest home. Wish I'd had space to try out the desserts. My friends kid enjoyed her kids meal. Definitely worth a visit back.
Good food and very friendly service.
Lovely meal. Friendly helpful staff member
Service ,surroundings excellent ,toilets clean but food lacking in flavour I’ve been to Goa and had Fish curry ,this was not up to mark and fish was not best cut ,they also need some dish warmers as food went liuke warm quite quickly . Our waitress Jazz was very knowledgable and very attentive . Mick
Amazing food and evening, couldn't recommend more!
The lamb thali was delicious and so filling, as always. This time our food was even better value for money as we took advantage of a two-for-one Wiggle deal. They do great takeaway as well which comes in ecologically friendly paper/card cartons instead of plastic ones.
I always enjoy the food when I visit Thali in Totterdown but did notice there were no specials this time!
Glad you're not closing x
Lovely, tasty food, great service and definitely value for money! Not much of an atmosphere due to lack of other diners, but not Thali's fault, it was early on a Tuesday evening! Would love to come back!
Great food and great service
Gorgeous food and lovely host :)
One of our favourite restaurants. Amazing food and really good, friendly service. Thank you!
Great food & service, lovely atmosphere :-D
I'm so sorry but this is brutally honest. I have been to other Thali restaurants and had certain expectations. FOOD/DRINK 1) The starter, poppadums and shared dips/pickles were not very inspired, some made with cheep ingredients and some cheap ready made. They were for 4 people and served in 4 tiny dishes to share..The main course was underwhelming and felt like too little love of cooking went into producing it. The little salad (donated by my daughter) was pitiful, the sauce on the lamb (I had) bitter and one dimensional, the dish of sour creme with cumin seeds a puzzle. ATMOSPHERE 2) The atmosphere was dull. The background music wasn't in the background. SERVICE 3) Not impolite but simply inattentive and disinterested. From the time we walked in we had to wait for the waitress to lift her head from her phone to acknowledge our existence, but once we were attended and shown to our booked table and given the menus we sat down. We asked to order quite quickly, where served drinks and when asking for glasses for water we were told to use the metal beakers stacked at one end of the table. Unfortunately they were stacked wet and this is not hygienic. Not wanting to bother the waitress I looked for serviettes or napkins. There were none on our place settings and none in the table caddy. So had to ask for these. We were then told to help ourselves to the metal dishes (again stacked wet at the end of the table) for our starter. When I book a table, turn up on time on a quiet night (only one other table -of 4) then I expect the house/waiting staff to have the table ready set up and to give me what I need if it isn't already on the table. To come and check (unobtrusively) if everyone is happy and offer more drinks etc - at least once during the meal and not sit behind the bar with her head in her phone so I'm made to feel awkward interrupting her. If you train your staff better - 'customer care' are transferable skills for them - you have to pay them the same if they do the job badly so get them to represent you better and you will retain new customers. VALUE FOR MONEY 4) If it hadn't been for the 40% new member discount it would have been a 2 for value for money.. Please take these comments in the spirit of honesty not to be nasty but to help you improve. We had a good evening because we were out together as a family. But although we live really close, we won't be popping in for a long while. All the best
Disappointing! We decided to try Totterdown Thalis as it was the only one in Bristol we had not tried. We waited an hour for our food and popodoms had run out so we just had mains. The dahl arrived in tiny pots - luke warm and not like we normally receive it. In fairness, the waiteress was quick to bring us more when we asked, but she was clearly struggling as not enough staff. Atmosphere severely lacking upstairs. we will not be going to Totterdown to have our thalis again!
Only one member of service personnel when we dined, who despite it being fairly busy, six tables at one point, and takeaways, was happy and attentive. Chef also served at one point. Well done.
We were disappointed with some of the new menu changes, particularly the change of many kulfi flavours to only one, and the loss of ginger beer from the menu
I've been to the Thali many times and love it just as much each time! Never disappoints. Thanks, guys!
Waiting staff did not wait to clear starters before bringing mains and meal felt rushed. Restaurant was quiet.
Good value Lovely food
lovely as always, just can't beat the food and the service is always great! Will keep going
Love this place. Great food and great service. My favourite place to come to celebrate special events, date nights or bringing parents out for dinner.
Lovely time, great food and atmosphere and staff excellent, friendly and attentive however could have more choice food wise especially veggie. Quantities varied - chicken meal had loads, fish and aubergine much less. But would heartily recommend to anyone!
Great deal on the preview of the Xmas menu.
