About Tony Macaroni Byres Rd
Our Byres Road eaterie is always busy with customers of all ages, enjoying the best freshly-cooked food at reasonable prices.
Since opening in 2009, the diner has become a West End institution, perfect for romantic first dates, family celebrations and business lunches.
Whatever the occasion, you’re assured of a warm welcome and a mouthwatering menu to choose from.
You could even just pop in for one of our famous pizzas for a fiver — you won’t find better value this side of the Alps!
Service was outstanding, our waiter sung Happy birthday to our nephew for his tenth birthday. Food was fantastic will definitely be back again
A most enjoyable meal, will definately be back for more of the same.
Great Pizza and service
Amazing evening! Staff were fantastic especially with my sister who broke her leg! Thanks for a great night xx
Poor quality food. Overpriced. Not a good experience.
Food, atmosphere & staff were all good but the toilets were disgusting!!! Toilets were broken, taps were broken and there was no toilet paper and they hadn’t been cleaned. Very poor.
Excellent service delicious food
Service was slow for a restaurant that wasn’t overly busy. Had to send meal back when it finally arrived and even when it came back out the second time it was lukewarm.
I have already sent you a message earlier regarding our visit and look forward to your reply.
Felt the food was average the most off putting part of our visit was the over familiarity of the staff. Leaning on the spare chair at the table to take our order and then at one point the waiter patted me on the shoulder like a dog. Tables are too close together we were quite happy in a booth although if we had been sat at a table with strangers like the people behind us I would have not been happy.
The waitress that took our drink and food orders was extremely polite and courteous. No question was too much trouble.
We have booked this restaurant for our Christmas Eve dinners for the past 7/8 years. On one occasion we tried another restaurant but thought we would come back to our usual, unfortunately we wish we hadn’t. Based on previous experience this fell far short of our expectations. No Christmas atmosphere eg, not Christmas cracker in sight, table not ready despite booking, lager not available, service slow and basic at very best. Very disappointed. Unfortunately has become a run of the mill restaurant , nothing special.
Friendly helpful staff and great food
We are regular customers but in this occasion we left unhappy. Firstly, it took ages for our initial drink order to be taken. Secondly, one of our group ordered the parmigiano di melanzane that arrived burnt, the same person didn’t receive her dessert and had to ask for it, the same person and then I got a cappuccino instead of a latte!! Xx
Great food/ portions and value for money, staff were friendly and knowledgeable
Absolutely shocking visit. Ruined our family Christmas evening. To be told after sitting and looking at both the al a carte and the festive menu our whole party has to order from just one of these menus when most if not all options on the festive menu were in the al a carte. Ordered wine and size different size of wine glasses arrived. Starters took 50 minutes to arrive and at intervals with 3 of our party nearly finishing theirs before the other 3 arrived. Mains took another half an hour again brought out in intervals with true waiter coming back to ask what we were waiting on (2 pizzas) ten minutes later they appeared with the sorry excuse of only so many pizzas can be cooked at one time - we only order 2 pizzas in our party. Asked for the bill to be amended as we weren’t staying for dessert and that took at lot of hassle - with waitress’s complaining it was her second day on the job to the manager not caring that we were not happy and was more busy seating further customers instead of dealing and listening to our complaints. Absolute shocking of an evening. I’ve posted reviews on tripadvisor/Facebook and your own website. Yes I agree it is a busy night for restraints and bars being so close to Christmas but doesn’t give you the excuse to treat people so poorly.
I had booked the table however we were made to wait 15 minutes and then had to wait another 10 minutes or so to be served, the drinks didn’t arrive till after the food was served and we had to ask for them ! The food was ok however was not piping hot like it usually is. there was a table of 20 something that was getting all the attention even though they were waiting a long time for there food, I would suggest you don’t take parties that big as it has an effect on other customers. I usually go to the Tonys are Braehead which is far better than this one. not a great experience and the toilets were not clean including soaking wet toilet paper ! Far from what your restaurants normally deliver as quality.
Tasty pizza. Kids meal deal is great value
Really disappointed in the service we received. Have visited Toni Macaroni byres road many many times but doubt we will get back. Two adults and three children. First thing the children where asked on arrival was if they would like to colour in. 15 minutes after we had arrived and having asked for a second time because the kids where asking repeatedly for the crayons we where told they didn’t actually have any crayons!! Colouring in sheets and no crayons. Next, my bruschetta starter was inedible. Swimming in oil. Took one bite of it and waited for someone to come over to the table to tell them and ask for a replacement. By the time anyone came back near our table the main courses where ready. When I told the waiter my complaint about the starter I was told that your mains are ready, do you want me to hold them and bring you another starter. My response was no, just bring the main courses please. You can imagine my confusion when another bruschetta that I hadn’t asked for had arrived at our table instead of the main courses we had been told several minutes before was ready! So that was returned and had to ask again for the main course. The main course was fine. Waited a lengthy time for more drinks and then ice cream for the kids that we needed to ask for rather than be offered. The ice cream where put down in the middle of the used dinner plates. No attempt to clear the table. Eventually, after another lengthy wait, the bill arrived and I was extremely disappointed to discover the waiter had attempted to charge me £16.95 as part of the Christmas menu when all I had to to eat was a chicken burger at just over £8 on the al a carte menu. My friends started and main also came to no where near the £16.95 so I asked for the bill to be adjusted and was told I’d need to speak to the manager. The Christmas menu included a dessert. I wouldn’t mind so much paying full price if at any point we where actually offered a dessert!! The manager did come to speak to us and the bill was adjusted but there seemed to be a lack of interest or organisation within the restaurant. I appreciate it’s a busy time of year but when we arrived the restaurant was almost empty. It did get busier and a large booking arrived a while after us. The waiter was appeared to be under a great deal of pressure and perhaps needed more support! When we arrived we had told the server that we had tickets booked for 6pm. The service was so slow we finally left the restaurant at just before 6 (having had to go to the bar to make payment because no one seemed to gauge our urgency) and had to rush to our booking! Unfortunately we are unlikely to return to this particular restaurant.
I booked a table for 15/12/19 for 2 adults and 2 kids! We love Toni macaroni, it’s our favourite restaurant but we had never been to the one in Byres Rd! The staff were very friendly and attentive but got drink orders mixed up. The food was lovely but we waited 25min for desert and had cancel as it only left us 10min to walk with the kids along to kelvin grove art gallery! The kids quickly got theirs but had to eat as we walked along and my partner was still charged £7.95 for the ice cream he had ordered. The girl was very apologetic but the service in this restaurant could be improved.
Menu was nice, waited a while to be served but I felt £25 for 3 courses was a bit pricey.
Very slow service in 25 minutes before we were asked what we wanted to drink.
Excellent meal, great friendly service and great value for money, will be back very soon
45mins wait between courses ..no attention from servers..ended up cancelling dessert
