About Thomas Tripp
At Thomas Tripp we believe wholeheartedly in the vitality that a traditional local pub brings to the community and we welcome you to join in; take in our smuggling history, enjoy our beers, ales and fine wines, sample our freshly prepared food (our seafood is fab!) or perhaps have a boogie or sing along on our live music nights.
We also house The Seafood Shack which is a hidden gem in Christchurch serving the very best locally sourced seafood, shellfish, surf and turf and great steaks.
Chaos. Well over an hour to receive our starters because our order was messed up and hadn’t been put through properly. Poor anti Covid processes. E.g. No social distancing between tables, nor any attempt to socially distance public as everyone was queuing by the door to order food/drinks. No masks worn by staff, overcrowded toilets, overcrowding around our table.... Sorry, but all in all a very disappointing experience although Tamsin was understanding. Will not be returning.
Lovely friendly staff, and customers!! Food was fab.
We went for dinner with the kids during the eat out to help out offer. Although the food was really good the menu was limited compared with previous visit and it appeared that prices had been inflated for the menu in order to make the most of the govt initiative. This to me is morally wrong and very disappointing, if we could have got in anywhere else I would have left without ordering.
Good food, friendly staff. Would go again.
Amazing as always
One word GREAT
We left before we even ordered food. Had booked to take advantage of the eat out to help out scheme. The menu was very limited. The prices were extortionate for what was, essentially, pub grub. Had read reviews, after booking, which all said they had increased prices for the days of the eat out to help out. Would not go again, only gave the 1 star because you have to
quality food and quality service
Amazing Sunday roast dinner, beef lovely and soft and pink, also plenty of mixed roast vegetables.
Excellent service as always
Great night with 2 lovely platter menus
The waitress serving us was nice and friendly. The food was decent, we both had steaks. Our experience was marred by the lack of social distancing throughout the pub. The tables were adequately spaced, however all food and drinks had to be ordered from the bar which resulted in no social distancing by the people queuing to be served. There were perplex screens above the bar, which had around 4-5 sections to be served at.The pub was busy, so people were queuing 4 or 5 deep, which meant people were stood directly next to our table whilst we were seated there. None of the staff were wearing any kind of PPE, and as the pub was so busy they had people less than 1 metre from them a lot of the time, which was definitely unfair on the staff. We felt very uncomfortable at the lack of social distancing, and it would prevent us from returning.
Had a nice evening seeing friends.. but our dining experience wasnt great, one meal didnt show up until after we had all finished so 1 friend had to eat alone as they got her meal completely wrong. 2 friends were charged too much for what they had. And also noticed that the prices of food have gone up considerably, not sure if you have done this for the dine out deal, if so that is very wrong.... but £17 for a burger and £9 for desserts and an extra £3 for custard if ridiculous for a pub !!!! So all in all pretty disappointing....
Very good food a bit dark inside staff very friendly a little bit slow bringing menus and we didn’t realise we had to go up to order but the chicken and leek pie was delicious and packed with chicken and the hot sticky chicken burger was very pleasing
Very disappointed that you felt the need to increase your prices only on the EOTHO days. I am local and not a visitor. You have lost my custom. This will also be added to trip advisor. You have a right to reply.
Fantastic Sunday lunch yesterday - we ate started, mains and even dessert and were impressed by all! Very helpful staff even when really busy and will be returning!
Food excellent - especially the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Best I've ever had!
First class boozer
Slow service at the bar, not able to swop mash potatoes for chips on one of the dishes, chef said no swops allowed. Social distancing not possible where we were sat overlooked by other tables. Prices increased to cover £10 off eat out government deal. Eye watering £18 for mediocre fish and chips lunchtime the week before was £8.95 why the increase by £9. Chicken and leek pie had very runny gravy and no base which makes a slid in my opinion (stew with a lid) will not be returning.
