About Thomas Tripp
At Thomas Tripp we believe wholeheartedly in the vitality that a traditional local pub brings to the community and we welcome you to join in; take in our smuggling history, enjoy our beers, ales and fine wines, sample our freshly prepared food (our seafood is fab!) or perhaps have a boogie or sing along on our live music nights.
We also house The Seafood Shack which is a hidden gem in Christchurch serving the very best locally sourced seafood, shellfish, surf and turf and great steaks.
Very welcoming , good service and friendly too
Great food and service but one minor thing was the £1 charge for gravy with vegetarian roast dinners.
The food was phenomenal and the staff were amazing. We will definitely be coming back.
I visited with my husband on 14/10/20 after much consideration on where to eat for our wedding anniversary. My initial impressions were that the Covid restrictions were being adhered to, however, it soon became apparent this was not the case when someone proceeded to vape indoors. Nothing was said and judging by the ongoing banter with staff with very little regard to the correct wearing of masks or social distancing suspect it is a regular occurrence. We had both looked forward to the evening having, like most people, not ventured from our home for some time. As a consequence we ate and left very promptly with a sense of disappointment.
We had a lovely lunch with you. Very friendly and professional service and the food was great. Many thanks
Amazing evening, food was fabulous and the service provided by Matt was 2nd to none. We had an amazing evening. We even saw Matt at the bus stop the next morning and he recognised us first and chatted to us. He is an absolute star and made our time in Christchurch
Brilliant evening with brilliant food. Staff all very friendly and helpful always checking if needing anything else. Covid measures all in place and can't wait to re-visit soon!
Great atmosphere and service
Fab roast dinner very tasty 😋 service very good
Still great but prices up and portions scaled back a bit since lockdown.
Great atmosphere and entertaining aslways
Good food, good atmosphere, good social distancing protocols in place
Wouldn’t recommend for Sunday roast at late hour of 6 pm. Beef very though, almost indigestible. Yorkshire pudding stone cold and meal was bathed in salty gravy. Should have been on the side. Had to ask for meal to be microwaved so it was at least a hot meal. Very disappointing. My partner had chicken burger served with a very small potion of chips. Won’t be going back for a meal—maybe a drink when the live music returns .
Wonderful service in the Shack.
Chaos. Well over an hour to receive our starters because our order was messed up and hadn’t been put through properly. Poor anti Covid processes. E.g. No social distancing between tables, nor any attempt to socially distance public as everyone was queuing by the door to order food/drinks. No masks worn by staff, overcrowded toilets, overcrowding around our table.... Sorry, but all in all a very disappointing experience although Tamsin was understanding. Will not be returning.
Lovely friendly staff, and customers!! Food was fab.
We went for dinner with the kids during the eat out to help out offer. Although the food was really good the menu was limited compared with previous visit and it appeared that prices had been inflated for the menu in order to make the most of the govt initiative. This to me is morally wrong and very disappointing, if we could have got in anywhere else I would have left without ordering.
Good food, friendly staff. Would go again.
Amazing as always
One word GREAT
We left before we even ordered food. Had booked to take advantage of the eat out to help out scheme. The menu was very limited. The prices were extortionate for what was, essentially, pub grub. Had read reviews, after booking, which all said they had increased prices for the days of the eat out to help out. Would not go again, only gave the 1 star because you have to
quality food and quality service
