About Thomas Carr Seafood & Grill
Set over two floors, downstairs is a fun, trendy gastropub with a grill type menu. Upstairs a sit down restaurant with a la carte menu.
Delicious food with amazing staff.
Thank you for making our anniversary special
Food good but overpriced, no atmosphere and lack of attention to detail e.g. light bulb out above bar, staff not knowing what they were serving, staircase to toilets grim. Annoying upsetting e.g. pre-starters!
Great music in the background - a really nice atmosphere. Amazing food that was well portioned. Accompanied by friendly waiting staff. All round a good evening out.
Excellent service as a quick meal was requested before a visit to the Theatre. The food was very interesting, well presented and extremely tasty. Many thanks
I have left a comment on trip advisor. Very promising and the first part of the evening was lovely but my dinner was tiny for what it was. Only got £4 off my dish, side portion came very late and my main was getting cold. £18 is still way too much for what I got. Service was good to start with but as soon as we said something, felt that we were being avoided ie lack of eye contact, not coming over to ask if our meal was ok and for dessert menu and the bill. Not that happy at the end to be honest as felt that the customer service was lacking. I was asked an awkward comment being “is that not enough for you”. Didn’t really get much of an apology and the attitude towards us was a bit cold. Sorry to leave this but need to be honest and I love Ilfracombe. I want to see this restaurant thrive for many years and I visit this area many times for both personal reasons and for holidays. Happy to discuss further if any other clarification is needed.
Food and service was amazing as usual, definitely one of my favourite places to dine!
We loved our lunch here. The food was superb and great value for money and the service was excellent. The restaurant/bar area needed to be a little warmer to make it perfect.
We came here with friends who were visiting and we all enjoyed a drink in the walled garden in the sunshine before our delicious lunch. This included skate wing, sea bream, and some Burgers with celeriac and really delicious chips. We all had dessert, I had the divine berry crème brûlée, and some of the others had the chocolate brownie, all very much enjoyed. Lovely friendly and efficient service from our helpful waitress Millie, all in all a most enjoyable experience. Many thanks.
The only thing that let things down was the cheap paper napkins. I would have expected cloth or at least good quality paper napkins you can get that look like linen.
Thoroughly enjoyed our burgers and deserts. Well presented and full of flavour. Drinks are served in lovely glasses. We went in for lunch and it was really quiet so there wasn't much of an atmosphere. Prices are of the high end for an Ilfracombe lunch spot, but it is a good quality restaurant. The waitress was very kind but seemed a little nervous. We will return.
We loved this place! The food was superb, the wine very good. We enjoyed the blind gin tasting! The atmosphere is very relaxed. A great place!
Josh was charming as always and the food, once we got it was good but unfortunately we waited about 40 mins for our main course. I understand you were busy upstairs but the delay did seem long as we were hungry.
Visiting North Devon for a day out and we prebooked lunch. The crispy chilli squid starter was delicious but could have been a little more generous. The hake was fresh and nicely cooked retaining its moistness and the accompanying tumeric cauliflower, cauliflower puree and curried olive oil was outstanding. We enjoyed the posset though our preference would have been to slightly sweeten the posset but make the compote less so. The service was cheerful and informed. The 3 course menu for £24 was very good value. Altogether we thought this was an excellent lunch. Nice to find unusually high standards in a Victorian seaside town that is on the up but still a bit jaded. Good to see you will be open over the winter.
Another fabulous night of excellent food and paired wines. All explained beautifully by the incredibly dynamic Daniel. Well done to all and I can't wait for the next one!
Lovely lunch thank you. Excellent food
Only customers but made to feel very welcome and were looked after well.
Made very welcome. Good menu choices. Fresh food delightfully presented. Good service. Thank you.
Really loved the food, drinks and service.
Service is great! Very Warm and welcoming. The food is amazing!!! Second time we’ve been and again it was faultless.
Having visited many genuine seafood/grill restaurants I found the whole experience very misleading and I would not recommend. I would expect this menu at a beach bar, it was very limited and uninspiring. If you are looking for seafood or a grill experience then I would recommend to look elsewhere.
An excellent evening. Food, wine and staff combined to ensure a really enjoyable and memorable event!
Bar service was very slow and asked for half a pint and was delivered a pint. On using the toilets all theynway down the stairs the carpets were filfthy and full of debris and dead flies. The doors look grubby and in disrepair. The toilet bowls and sinks were clean but the whole area was grubby and the floor very sticky.
Fab evening. Delightful staff esp. female team leader/manageress - knew her menu & options.
