About Thomas Bar & Restaurant
Our Thomas Restaurant, located in Future Inn Cardiff, serves British food with an array of honest, contemporary Welsh dishes. We pride ourselves on providing the best, mouth-watering, fresh, local ingredients and binding them together to create the distinct, authentic flavours that our dishes demand.
Our food is presented in an informal relaxed manner & is served all day every day. There’s a wide range of beer, larger & wine on offer – almost all of which are available by the glass, as well as the bottle. Naturally, there’s a good choice of soft drinks too, including refreshing fruit juices.
Whether you’re a hotel guest or not, join us at the Thomas Bar & Restaurant for a fantastic dining experience & insight into traditional Welsh cuisine.
We decided to dine at Thomas' because of the dreadful weather on that day. It was a lot easier to eat at the hotel (very nice and comfortable by the way) than risking being soaked! It was a really good surprise indeed: food was delicious and well executed, a modern touch without pretention. As we decided to eat early, the restaurant was rather quiet, but the service and attention to my wife and daughter was excellent, despite a very busy bar behind us. Thank you again for a lovely dinner. we will definitely recommend it to friends.
The staff were very friendly and helpful - and looked after us well.
We had a lovely time celebrating our daughters graduation. Staff were very friendly and made the experience very enjoyable. Food was amazing, thank you.
Lovely afternoon tea for baby shower. All staff very healpfull. Delicious finger sandwiches, amazing scones and cakes. Highly recommended.
Very disappointed to say the least!! I booked afternoon tea for a fathers dat treat for my dad myself and sister, whilst on line booking traditional afternoon tea it popped up would you like to upgrade to a Father’s Day gentleman’s afternoon tea which came with a alcoholic beverage so I though why not, it then asked me if I had any special requirements to which I answered no fish as myself and sister do not eat fish. I then continued with the booking pitting in all my contact details. We arrived yesterday and was greeted by a very polite member of staff who showed us to our table and took our drinks order, he then served us with our afternoon tea and to my horror when it came out is was loaded with fish I told the waiter about my special requests he then said sorry that’s my fault for no reading it properly, I will bring you some replacements after about 10 minutes he returned with 4 beef sliders the size of a 10 pence piece. Having got home and looked at the menu it shows that it was more of a fish tea so I know I should have looked at the menu beforehand boy also I think I should have had a phone call to say about the fish when I already informed them no fish. Very very disappointed is an understatement and with buying an extra pint for my Dad me and my sister left £57 lighter and very hungry!!!
Didn’t stay to eat as despite booking we were informed there was a 40 minute wait for dinner, despite restaurant not being full. We went elsewhere.
My Aunty and I came here for a birthday treat and we weren't disappointed! Great value for money and the food quality was amazing! They even put the cakes we were unable to eat in a little pot to take home! We will definitely be coming again!
The afternoon tea was average, although most of the cakes were very nice, we had 6 scones between 3 of us. We had 3 tiny sandwiches although the cheese and pickle was lovely. We could have done with less cakes and maybe a Scott egg or mini quiche, and or crisps at the very least.
Not very impressed to be honest. Looks nothing like the pictures on the website. We arrived and there was nobody at the welcome area, approached the reception desk who directed us to the bar. We went over to the bar where 2 staff members were talking (a lady and a gent). We were shown to our table (restaurant was empty). The waiter brought one pot of tea and pot of coffee to the table with a tiny jug of milk between 4 people. We had to ask twice for more milk. We requested another pot of tea as 3 people were sharing one pot. The coffee was cold. Our food arrived and this was disappointing too. We had 3 small fingers each with fairly basic (supermarket bought) ingredients, a plain scone with jam and clotted cream and 3 cakes each (a small fruit loaf slice, a cookie and a peanut/brownie thing about the size of a 10p piece). I didn't feel the quality of the food provided warranted the price and the service we received wasn't great. Our waiter didn't return to our table once the food had arrived even though we would have liked another drink (supposed to be unlimited tea/coffee). He also gave us the impression that he didn't want to be there. I wouldn't recommend or go again.
Had a lovely time, when asked the staff for me for tea etc they got it for us, very quite when we went
Ate in the restaurant and in the bar. Lovely food, friendly staff and good service
Lovely sunday roast. Excellent value for money. Good variety and portions.
Very friendly. Food nice and hot. Staff very polite nothing to much trouble
We were the only table because we ate early before a show but service was almost non existent. I thought we would have to leave before the food arrived at one point. When it did arrive it was good. Would have been nice to have been asked if we wanted more drinks but never did. Like a morgue but I suppose it was early.
The food was very good and the Service also
Food excellent. Good value for money. Very friendly service.
Great food, stylish decor and very convenient with a restaurant serving tasty dinners in the hotel.
