About Thomas Bar & Restaurant
Our Thomas Restaurant, located in Future Inn Cardiff, serves British food with an array of honest, contemporary Welsh dishes. We pride ourselves on providing the best, mouth-watering, fresh, local ingredients and binding them together to create the distinct, authentic flavours that our dishes demand.
Our food is presented in an informal relaxed manner & is served all day every day. There’s a wide range of beer, larger & wine on offer – almost all of which are available by the glass, as well as the bottle. Naturally, there’s a good choice of soft drinks too, including refreshing fruit juices.
Whether you’re a hotel guest or not, join us at the Thomas Bar & Restaurant for a fantastic dining experience & insight into traditional Welsh cuisine.
Really disappointed. Booked this for 6 of us. Looked at the menu before hand for the 2 course and a free dessert. The menu states you can have either antipasti starter, prawn cocktail or soup of the day. When we arrived the menu states just anti pasti platter or soup of the day. When we questioned about the prawn cocktail one man said yes another came over and said no that's never on the menu and the chef had no prawns even though this was the cardiff menu online. When the anti pasti platter arrived there were no stuffed peppers on there so when questioned if we could have them they turned around and said we haven't got any. This was not stated before ordering this just presumed we wouldn't notice. We then went up to get our food. 3 out of 6 people got theres and sat down and then myself and another 2 had our meat and had to wait for 5 of the veg to. Come out whilst already putting the other veg on so half of it was then cold. I then said I'm waiting for the carrots after already waiting 5 minutes for the other veg they turn around and say they will be another 5 minutes! Ridiculous when half of your food is already cold! She then brought carrots to the table which as well as the parsnips were rock hard. Would definitely not recommend to anyone. So disappointed and complete waste of money!!
We visited your restaurant last night prior to the theatre. There were 6 of us and honestly couldn’t fault the service, food not forgetting the relaxing and very attractive surroundings. The £20 3 course evening meal was brilliant as was the choices from the main menu. Thank you x
Lovely Sunday roast, its a shame there was not many other people in the restaurant.
A very relaxed and friendly atmosphere, service was excellent and the food was of a very high standard. Three of us had the monmouth pudding as our desserts, it was only ok, the bread was dense and tasteless, however we will definitely return, the steaks were fabulous.
Food, service, cleanliness - all perfect. The lady who was replacing the table decorations was so kind to our children. Thanks!
Enjoyed the meal however the staff were not aware of the current offer that included a free glass of wine with the set meal for £20
First time here, won't be the last
Had a lovely meal. The waitress was very polite and friendly
All fantastic would recommend and will be back!!
Not enough seating in bar area
Absolutely amazing service - staff had a great knowledge of the menu and were very friendly. A pleasant experience
Everything very good especially the starters which were exceptional
We had a very nice meal, with excellent service, all the staff were courteous and helpful. We will be returning, for certain. Thanks to everyone.

We booked the afternoon tea when we saw it advertised during our recent stay at the Cardiff Future Inn. It was for a treat for some visitors coming to see us for the day. We use the Bar & Restaurant when staying there so knew the quality of the service & food was excellent. We were pleased to find out that it was the same although we were only there for the afternoon tea and not staying at the hotel. When booking we gave some dietary needs, these were kept to. The young lady looking after us was very helpful, explained how the tea would be brought to us. The food was excellent quality, plentiful and the set price very good value for money.
Very nice good food. Polite staff.
Even though we won an afternoon tea with yourselves at the future Inn in Cardiff, we were quite disappointed with the amount of sandwiches compared to the sweet platter. You could do with offering more savoury treats rather than all sweet ones.
We decided to dine at Thomas' because of the dreadful weather on that day. It was a lot easier to eat at the hotel (very nice and comfortable by the way) than risking being soaked! It was a really good surprise indeed: food was delicious and well executed, a modern touch without pretention. As we decided to eat early, the restaurant was rather quiet, but the service and attention to my wife and daughter was excellent, despite a very busy bar behind us. Thank you again for a lovely dinner. we will definitely recommend it to friends.
The staff were very friendly and helpful - and looked after us well.
We had a lovely time celebrating our daughters graduation. Staff were very friendly and made the experience very enjoyable. Food was amazing, thank you.
Lovely afternoon tea for baby shower. All staff very healpfull. Delicious finger sandwiches, amazing scones and cakes. Highly recommended.
Very disappointed to say the least!! I booked afternoon tea for a fathers dat treat for my dad myself and sister, whilst on line booking traditional afternoon tea it popped up would you like to upgrade to a Father’s Day gentleman’s afternoon tea which came with a alcoholic beverage so I though why not, it then asked me if I had any special requirements to which I answered no fish as myself and sister do not eat fish. I then continued with the booking pitting in all my contact details. We arrived yesterday and was greeted by a very polite member of staff who showed us to our table and took our drinks order, he then served us with our afternoon tea and to my horror when it came out is was loaded with fish I told the waiter about my special requests he then said sorry that’s my fault for no reading it properly, I will bring you some replacements after about 10 minutes he returned with 4 beef sliders the size of a 10 pence piece. Having got home and looked at the menu it shows that it was more of a fish tea so I know I should have looked at the menu beforehand boy also I think I should have had a phone call to say about the fish when I already informed them no fish. Very very disappointed is an understatement and with buying an extra pint for my Dad me and my sister left £57 lighter and very hungry!!!
Didn’t stay to eat as despite booking we were informed there was a 40 minute wait for dinner, despite restaurant not being full. We went elsewhere.
My Aunty and I came here for a birthday treat and we weren't disappointed! Great value for money and the food quality was amazing! They even put the cakes we were unable to eat in a little pot to take home! We will definitely be coming again!
The afternoon tea was average, although most of the cakes were very nice, we had 6 scones between 3 of us. We had 3 tiny sandwiches although the cheese and pickle was lovely. We could have done with less cakes and maybe a Scott egg or mini quiche, and or crisps at the very least.
