About Thistledown Café
Thistledown Café is located on our beautiful family farm near Nympsfield, Stroud. Our food is prepared with a charcoal barbecue and wood-fired clay oven using local, Organic, free range and foraged ingredients where possible, including some of our own produce. Our menu always includes vegan and gluten free options. The café is fully licensed and we stock a range of locally-sourced alcohols. We serve gourmet coffees, a range of artisanal teas and make all our cakes in house. We donate 5% of all hot drinks sales to Stroud Valleys Project to fund tree planting and habitat creation within the district. The café has seating inside and out, including our conservatory which houses our open kitchen and has stunning views over Woodchester Park. Café guests are welcome to explore the surrounding meadow which includes a pond, stone circle and land art (the rest of the farm is for campers only). Dogs on leads are welcome and we have baby-changing and disabled facilities. Join our mailing list for details of events such as vegan tapas nights, story telling sessions and foraging mornings. Our small shop stocks delicious sourdough bread, Organic milk, our own preserves and more. We also offer award winning environmental camping - see our website for details.
Pizza was raw. Seated less than a meter away from the next person 1 hour for a pizza .... beautiful setting !!
The cafe was organised so well in these worrying times. It was so clean and it felt safe. The pizzas were so yum and they were great accommodating our fussy kids. The setting of Thistledown is perfect and if you have children there's plenty of outdoor space away from the tables.
Always fresh and excellent quality. A real local asset.
It was very busy due to ‘Eat out to help out‘. We had pre-booked and our table was ready. We did have to wait a while for food but when it came it was delicious (As always!) and chef gave some complimentary olives to keep us going! Am local and a regular at Thistledown. Everyone is always friendly and accommodating. We will be back. Thank you to the whole team.
Service is always good but slow-food on the table 60 minutes after arrival on Wednesday is, from my experience of your cafe, fairly typical. Love the food
We waited for 50 mins before the food arrived..we were with children and it was a later lunch yet still a ridiculous wait for what was an extremely simple meal. The food was nothing like it used to be. Very dull mezzo with green leaves a couple of pickled radishes and little else. Kids macaroni came piled high in a tiny bowl, please could you use flatter bowls so when they eventually get their food they don’t have to wait again for it to cool! There are a lot of young staff who are not always put to best use. The big issue for most people is the waiting time. It’s not acceptable What is going on? However the cakes are great.
