About The Zookeeper's Son
In 1912 J.J. Boyd's zoo opened in Royal Oak with lions and all manner of exotic creatures.
Before long one of the lions decided to escape - only to be recaptured by Mr Boyd's son.
We've named this establishment The Zookeeper's Son, as a reminder that sometimes you need to be let loose....
Salad dressing made salad inedible chips way over cooked burger bums soggy Shame really you can do better and I've not seen any improvement in your cooking for a couple of years pay your chefs more and get decent ones . Bring back salt and pepper squid
Staff were very friendly and helpful, had a wonderful night. Thanks everyone at the Zoo keepers son!!
as annoyed as im sure our waiter was, he was so patient and professional, friendly but so busy! i totally dig the kids area on the mezzaine floor but the only thing i was weary of was the rain that puddled in through the french doors..my siblings absolutely loved the venue despite the weather and stink that theres not alot of parking right behind your building but oh well..we didnt get robbed or anything..I think its awesome that the kids get to eat free on Sundays (we ordered quite a few mains). What a treat for everyone after the kids baptism that day! My only feedback would be that the kids meals were ordered first but their meals came out last..We will definitely be back.. :)
It would be good to have some more regular height tables instead of all but one leaner height.
Great venue highly recommend it. Great private areas & the atmosphere was fantastic.
Took my management team for a business lunch. I don't drink so had two mocktails. They were lovely and pleasantly surprised to see they were reasonably priced - so often bars charge the same price for them even though there is no alcohol. Three of us had the salmon and all loved it. Great place for a lovely lunch. We will be back. Thank you.
Would be good if pens were provided for the quiz.....
Great atmosphere and yummy food
when I went to pay I thought I would use my "loyalty" points, only to be told they had been "wiped" during a computer upgrade. not good enough
Overall it was okay. The main meal( steak) was not as expected but the Chicken fettuccine was absolutely divine! Great atmosphere for group dinner not so much for someone looking for someone looking for a quiet evening.
Great area upstairs to keep kids entertained.
Catherine was amazing
Great host with 5 star service. Awesome Staff, everyone were so accomodating and the food was awesome - big portions and no delays. Thank you very much Zookeepers
Great hostess, terrific service.
Thank you for hosting our group lunch. We all enjoyed the Zookeepers Son atmosphere, excellent and friendly service, and the food was scrumptious. All the ladies had a very enjoyable time, we definitely would recommend it to others, n would love to come back for sure. Many thanks again 😊
Food was great, service was a bit slow
Totally disappointed by our experience. The leaner tables were not conducive to comfortable dining. Some of the food was barely warm and we certainly didnt feel value for money was met. The waitress we had was pleasant and bubbly enough however the reaching across to clear plates while others still dining seemed to me not proper dining etiquette. We felt hurried and rushed with glasses being cleared and we were still having desserts. It wasnt the best experience and we were highly disappointed. For a table of 9 people whom none of which no one enjoyed there time here. We wont be back.
Fantastic Lunch - Thank you Team
Nice hot fireplace made this a homely nd welcoming place to spend the evening with friends. Staff were great, the food was tasty and served quickly, with all eight of us getting our meals at roughly the same time.
I went back as the last experience was great but this time I was disappointed with the fries as they tasted of lemon and that is not a good combination. Apparently a new mix was used with the paprika. When I mentioned it nothing was done to fix it which was disappointing.
Great spot for a family catch up. Upstairs was perfect with somewhere for the children to play.
No Mussels, very disappointing, I'm sure the supermarket down the road had heaps. But I was impressed that the meal we got for our wheelchair guest was already cut up into small bits when delivered to the table, that was a very nice touch.
Great Experience.. Great Service.. Will be going again to 'The Zookeepers Son' asap...
