About The York
The York overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and sits proudly in the village of Portstewart. An informal restaurant serving fish from the harbour, local brews and a winning wine list. The restaurant is known locally for its jugs of Margarita and creamy pints of Guinness.
The decking area has capacity for up to 40 guests and is the perfect spot to enjoy our Fish and Chips with a glass of Rose.
The menu offers a variety of vegan and gluten free dishes. All our fish dishes are Gluten free.
We source our steaks from the Meat Merchant in Moira. "Our beef is reared with care, humanely slaughtered and aged to perfection" says Peter Hannon our Master Butcher.
Sporting enthusiasts can reserve a table in the Sports Lounge where Rugby, Soccer, GAA, F1 and golf are featured.
Fab mussels and squid. Great service and a lovely relaxed atmosphere.
The best views in Portstewart
We booked a table online and the York had no details of our reservation. However the great staff found us a table despite the online error.
Our party on Saturday afternoon all enjoyed a lovely afternoon in the York and look forward to returning again in the future.
Great set up, very easy, will definitely be back.
Staff were very professional and service excellent. The York are really trying hard under difficult circumstances ( raining when we were there) but are making the very best of it !
Very limited menu and still managed to get the order wrong despite it placed online. Wrong burger in the box labelled correctly and extra burger sent instead of chips and had to ask again after a while for the chips to be brought. Food was nice but surprised it could be so wrong for such a small menu and I wasn't full at the time. Nice setting though
Great location, staff very friendly and efficient, will definitely be back
The service and food was very good. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Wasn’t sure about the whole app ordering but it turned out to be really simple.
Food was fantastic will definitely be back. Thank you
Service and food excellent. A lot of effort and money has went into the ordering and service of food with min interaction so you are completely at ease.
Outdoor heaters to be more powerful and all on
I ordered a steak sandwich, it came in a takeaway dish, which was nearly impossible to eat as they were not enough space to cut it etc. The steak was cooked perfect and tasted lovely. Food was cooked quick and service was great. Portions was small,
Great food but felt a bit disappointed that we had to order food online. Perfectly understand that business is trying to stay COVID safe with very little contact between staff and customers.
Good tastey food
Very friendly, professional staff. Impressed with COVID regs esp cleaning of tables. It was a little cold so I was given a blanket which was lovely. Maybe have more heaters on. Overall, a very pleasant and enjoyable visit.
Would be useful to have note when booking of how long you are expected to have the table for
The food was nice. We had monkfish Thai red curry, crispy chicken burger with adovocado and bacon, fish and chips and kids burger and chips. All well cooked and very tasty. Drinks were good guniess and East the beast. Service was great. You need to order on your phone and pay through an app as outside service only atm. It was cold, the outside heating not working fully but I hope they will fix this soon. We would like to go back
Brilliant service and a brilliant app to order food which was very good would highly recommend
Loved our night and appreciate it was the second night opening after lockdown eased. But I was disappointed with the lack of direct attention from staff. Everything was ordered and paid for through the app from the table which meant starters, drinks and mains all came at the one time. No one told us to order them separate when we arrived so it meany all the boxes of food arrived at the one time. The choice of drinks were limted too and no cocktails. The menu was also limited. It was burgers or fish and chips essentially. I was surprised to have to eat out of boxes too. Maybe I was expecting too much but I was hoping for a real plate, the full menu (with steak) low music and red wine flowing. Instead I got decent food in a great location but the food was in a box like a coffee shop, generic house wine and the sun was blocked off with the roof being closed. I will go back but there are some minor things I would've changed. Great location and tasty food all the same.
Great to be back. We had a couple of drinks with a burger and fish & chip. Great food and the best view of the coast from the balcony. All served by the friendly staff See you again soon
Staff were so friendly and helpful, view was awesome, good was good but what we got was over priced.
Book an outdoor table the first night open after lockdown. Was greeted promptly and shown to our table and advised how to order which was quick and easy. Food was gorgeous. Couldn't fault our experience. Was even offered blankets as it was very cold which was much appreciated.
A warm welcome on arrival and a bottle of Prosecco in the room which is a nice touch. Very convenient location. Only a short walk to the centre of Portstewart. The room was a good size with a king size bed and a rain shower and underfloor heating in the bathroom. We didn’t have a sea view but it didn’t matter. We ate in the restaurant. The food was delicious and great value. The breakfast bag delivers to your room about 7.45am was another lovely touch. I skulduggery definitely stay here again.
