About The Woodstock Arms
A great local pub with a great dinning room, and amazing rooms, start or end your day with us in this wonderful space, we are open for breakfast lunch and dinner.
Brunched (can brunch be a verb?) today at the Woodstock and the food was very nice. Prompt service, good cappuccino (would prefer to be asked if I would like chocolate topping - I don't), good fresh zingy OJ and really friendly and attentive staff. Bubble and squeak for her who shall be obeyed, and eggs royale for myself. Great value and decent enough ingredients. The muffin felt a little budget, I would have preferred something homemade and a little more interesting but the salmon was plentiful and tasty, hollandaise tangy and silky (suspect it may have been jarred but I'll give the benefit of the doubt😜). Bubble and squeak was really a potato cake, not terribly bubbley or squeaky, nevertheless tasty and filling. Accompaniments were nice, eggs perfectly cooked, black pudding delicious, spinach perfectly wilted and seasoned. A side of crispy and fluffy toast of different varieties, hot and tasty with a generous helping of butter and marmalade. Butter is a let down, super dull. Good butter is the difference between a good place and a great place. Biggest criticism is the plates. Weathered isn't the word. Battered? Umm. Forlorn? I don't know. The glaze was almost all gone, which has led to extensive staining and when I mopped up some escaping egg yolk I could taste dishwasher. Please please please get some new plates! Missed out on a strong four stars. Oh, bring back the bacon bloody Mary. A fantastic USP and crowd puller. It was sorely missed today.
Very enjoyable meal with great food and lovely service.
Excellent food and service Thank you for a fantastic experience
Great Pub! Really confy atmosphere and the Food is very good and nicely prepared! We dined at the Woodstock Arms with our Group and the Service was perfect for so many people!
We were new visitors and received a warm welcome. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Really enjoyed our meal. Always book a table here when we stay in Woodstock.
Popular Woodstock spot, even at 6:15 pm. Well-pupated food.
We all really enjoyed our Sunday carvery.
Very accommodating to fit us in at th last minute, busy at the bar so not guaranteed a seat or table. Booking in advance advisable. Very welcoming to both locals and visitors
Fabulous food great service brilliant pub!
Lovely welcome, good food, reasonably priced.
Had very tasty meals and were well looked after by the friendly staff. They remembered that I had mentioned I follow a 'dairy free' diet when I booked and provided a menu annotated to show what meals were suitable. Thank you.
Had the Sunday lunch and pudding - all tasted very nice and very reasonable price for the food
a couple more veggie choices would have been good as my dinner companion does not eat meat or fish. However what we did eat was good.
Food was good but not all of the good came out warm. This was taken of the bill
Really grest food, lovely atmosphere, superb service and great value for money. Will be booking again next time we are in the area.
Delicious food and great service from friendly staff.
Unfortunately we did not have a good dining here. We had booked a specific table which had been confirmed for dinner but was not available when we arrived. We were told that the message had not been received - but my request for a "softer seated" chair had been met and was at the table we were then seated at which suggested that our request not to be seated there (outside the toilet) had been ignored. The pub is obviously very popular and we had enjoyed a pleasant lunch there earlier (only a sandwich and fries but still very enjoyable) and had high hopes for dinner. Unfortunately, when our meal arrived, although it was beautifully presented it was served on cold plates and was luke warm. My husband had chosen steak and this and the sauce was cold the only hot part of the meal was the chips; and I had the stuffed chicken breast and the whole meal was barely warm and foolishly I thought the gravy would warm it up and poured it on only to discover that was cold! We had booked dinner at The Woodstock Arms on line on the recommendation of the Marlborough Arms and because of the positive reviews we had read on line but had lunch here just to double check and hence had checked where we would be sitting and had asked to be moved to a specific table which was agreed. We arrived 5 minutes before our reservation and I was therefore very disappointed that when we arrived we had not been given the table we had been expecting but had been seated outside the toilet which is where we were seated at lunchtime and had requested not to be seated in the evening. I had explained to the waitress that we had asked to be seated at the table opposite and she been very apologetic. I then asked whether a message had not been left about our table reservation and it obviously hadn't. When our food arrived on cold plates and was only luke warm we decided that we didn't want to spoil our evening any further by complaining and sending it back but instead ate up and left cutting our evening short hence the low score.
We had a lovely time, and really liked our waitress. Thank you very much.
It was last evening of a Bank Holiday weekend. Ordered lamb shank, told it was on the bone, lamb chop came after being delivered to next door table. Offered shank, yet it was not on the bone! Chop very tasty...
Thanks for a lovely evening - the service was excellent and the food and wine went down a treat. We particularly recommend your home made chicken pie which was delicious.
Mess up with booking due to the computer system no apology made to feel it was our fault. Nice room, clean comfy a little small. Food not fantastic ordinary. Lots of things unavailable, 2 mains, 1 pudding, discovered after ordering, and no dessert wines despite 2 being on the menu. Great breakfast, good ish service.
I would highly recommend this pub for a drink and /or meal.
Great job well done
Great food. Excellent friendly service throughout.
