About The Woodman
We are extremely proud of the food that we offer at The Woodman. ..
Whether it’s a succulent Dorset reared Rib Eye Steak, Braised Venison, Roasted Pork Belly or a runny home-made scotch egg to be enjoyed at the bar with a Badger ale, there is something for every taste and every occasion.
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, the woodfired pizzas are always great and the pub has a really relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Very friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. The food was very tasty. I had the lamb which went down very well!
This was our first meal of a two-week vacation, and it was lovely--memorable and delicious. Great ambiance, service, and food. Thank you!
This was our second time here. Both times they have been extremely helpful as we’ve usually been rushing back to dance at the RAD. We’ve had kids with us too and they could not be more friendly towards them.. thank you
Fabulous food and friendly staff
Always great food and service in such a lovely pub setting!
Lovely day, quite a few menu items sold out but lovely nonetheless.
Came for Sunday lunch for the first time on recommendation. Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed. First of all, the waitress took some time before coming to take our food order then realising no one has taken our drinks orders yet either. We both had the lamb roast and when it arrived, it was very hot which was a promising good sign. The lamb was well cooked, slightly pink in the centre and well seasoned as was the gravy which we had requested extras. Unfortunately, the vegetables were all under cooked, the roasted potatoes and roasted parsnip weren't cooked through so they were just a little bit too chewy and we were very disappointed to see small frozen yorkshire puddings instead of home made ones. We both ordered sticky toffee pudding for dessert which was actually very light and delicious, the only gripe I had with it was it was dowsed in too much toffee sauce and it only came with 1 small scoop of ice cream. The vegetables and trimmings for the roast would've made a big difference especially for the price it cost @ £15, I certainly would expect home made yorkshire pudding.
The food looked stunning, and I loved the choice of trimmings for the roast beef, but my beef was tough and actually hard to cut through and chewy.
I loved it./............ the food was really great and the service was so pleasant and personal. I live very nearby and I am thrilled to have such a great restaurant / bar that I will now definitely frequent. Well done
Amazing local! We wish we had gone there sooner, it was probably the nicest meal we have had since living in London.
Please change your online menu to no longer having the vegan quinoa and black bean burger - I was really looking forward to it during a long hard veganuary!!
Many thanks to the Woodman for accommodating us with a large group (25 people) at relatively short notice. They gave us a slightly split off area at the back of the restaurant which meant we could be as a group without worrying about other groups and but also meant we could be served well by the staff.
Lovely roast dinner, plentiful and good range of vegetables. The parsnips were a little undercooked, but everything else very good!
Ten minutes after arriving at the Woodman and sitting down at our table we had to ask to order some drinks. Our waitress took the drinks order, then after leaving to go to the bar, she returned to say the white wine was warm. We ordered something else and drinks arrived a few minutes later. We then ordered our food. Again, the lady left and returned a few minutes later to say they didn't have some of the things we ordered. We changed our order and our food arrived a while later. As the afternoon went on, it began to get dark outside and we asked for the light above our table to be turned on. We were told the light was broken and we were given two more candles. At the end of the meal we were given the dessert menu and were told, of the seven things on the menu, there were only two left. All in all, the food was fine, however the service was not great. We were made to feel as though we were asking for the moon and stars, even when we were just asking to order drinks. The Woodman is a lovely pub for drinks, however the restaurant side of the pub is not a friendly and enjoyable experience.
Thank you for putting on a lovely Christmas lunch for us! The food was delicious and the table setting was great. This is definitely something we will be doing again in future years.
Lovely staff but they were not able to be very attentive as they were so busy. Sunday roast was good but certainly not the best in the area and needed more veg.
Excellent food, great service.
Always a pleasant experience, steak wasn't worth £20 though.
The Woodman used to be my local but having moved to Chiswick we never make it there anymore. On Friday we decided to have date night and go back to our old haunt. It was a little disappointing to be honest! The cosy atmosphere was still there which was great. The first table we were shown to in the restaurant was under a very bright light (whereas all the other tables were bathed in candle light), it was also by the garden door so chilly when the door was opened by smokers and the table was so sticky! We couldn't get the menus off the table. In the end we asked to move and the only option was to eat in the bar area which was fine as we had a lovely table in the corner with lovely candle light (the small things!) My boyfriends steak was delicious however my pork belly was not good at all. I shouldn't really have eaten it but I was so hungry. It looked unappealing on the bowl- should really serve it on a plate- as it had no crispy crackling- the skin was like rubber. The meat tasted fine but it was tough to get the knife through, in my mind pork belly should just melt in the mouth. The cabbage with it was nice and crispy and the potatoes were tasty but presentation was non existent- just looked like slop on a plate with a bit of meat thrown on top. Really disappointing. If we are in the Battersea area again we would come into the Woodman for a drink but we won't rush back for food. A great shame.
Very good lobster. But mediocre and overpriced pudding with slow service
The food was delicious, however, the vegetables I ordered were not served with the dish and I had a long wait for that to be corrected. The waiting staff were very friendly but we got the impression that they were both rushed off their feet and had not received sufficient training. E.g. the wine was poured without the offer of tasting it, also we were charged for two bottles when we only had one!
Always reliable. Country pub (ok to take a dog etc) with excellent food in Battersea
Great little find
Excellent food, service and atmosphere
