About The Wise Man Inn
A warm welcome and scrumptious a la carte menu packed full of locally sourced produce is what you’ll find at The Wise Man Inn... a real treat after exploring the local area with nearby Hardy’s cottage, Dorchester and the stunning Jurassic coast.
With 10 years in the bag building up the business and a great reputation. Which offers a happy balance between a country pub and a great dining experience.
The menu’s feature creations inspired by British classics, modern and exciting flavours using free range, organic and local produce as much as possible. locally sourced sustainable fish and seafood can also be enjoyed from the daily specials.
Excellent meal, best triple cooked chips I have ever had.
Fantastic meal, friendly staff, really an amazing atmosphere. A great night had, will definitely be going back very soon.
Hope to return post Covid.Starters/desserts a bit expensive but well presented and tasty. Friendly service. Quality effort on oak frame covered area for Covid.
Never been before a truly great find will definitely return. Excellent food and service.
Once again consistent delivery in every way.
Best pub in Dorset ! Consistently good food and service !
Loved the outside space, especially the heaters available! Food was mostly good, but two steaks were tough, one was almost inedible. Staff kindly refunded this expense, but it was a shame as it spoilt the lunchtime treat. Competent, friendly staff, helpful with compromised elderly people.
Always reliable for excellent food and service. The changing daily specials often feature interesting fish dishes, always fresh of course. By far the best gastro pub for miles around. Highly recommended.
As always great food and friendly service !!! I think they have coped incredibly well during a difficult time !!!
My other half would have been very happy to have a padded seat
Excellent food and service, really enjoyed our visit!
Great food and excellent service. Nice to see Specials on the menu as a variation as most pubs I’ve frequented in the past month seem to run the same limited menu.
A great place to eat in a welcoming pub.
We had a great evening in your new Oak room for my husbands birthday! Amazing food, especially the chocolate pot!
It’s been a while since our last visit and a first ‘post-lockdown’ meal out. I chose The Wise Man as I knew I could trust it to be efficient, clean and friendly with exceptional food and service and we weren’t disappointed.
Cracking pint, first one since 2019
We had a lovely lunch on a chilly day but rugs and heaters kept us fairly snug! The food was really good
The meal was good and the waitress great but difficult to book online and kept being referred to it when I emailed Philip would have been nicer if he’d been more helpful with the booking
Despite the poor weather conditions we were well looked after and all enjoyed our choices of food. A delightful evening was had by all. Thank you.
The service and food were really good and the new outdoor dining area was perfect. As always we had a perfect experience.
Clearly a lot has been done to ensure all customers feel safe post lockdown We had a delicious meal with excellent service.
Lovely food and beer. Friendly service. The new garden seating area has been nicely done. Very nice touch to have the blankets available when the sun went in. Thank you.
Great covid safe visit for a Sunday roast. Maybe a slightly longer wait than we would have liked but our food was very tasty when it did arrive. Staff very attentive and professional. Will go again in the next couple of weeks.
We had a wonderful relaxing time, with good food and service. Love the staff who always make us feel so welcome.
Service was very slow. Took 25 minutes before we were asked what drinks we wanted, and then had to wait for another waitress to take the food order about another 10 minutes later. Other people who arrived after us had their orders taken before us. Food was ok, we both had sandwiches and the bread was very hard. The tables seemed quite close together, even during normal times they would have seemed quite squashed in with not much room to move around between them.
