Great restaurant. Delicious food and vibe. Would recommend to anyone and go back any time.
It was lovely to see things hadn’t changed since we were there last, great fun and atmosphere
Thank you for the lovely review Heather - so pleased you had a wonderful time! Happy New Year!
Fast service.
Thank you for the review Suzy! Happy New Year!
Such a friendly welcome, as always; excellent food and great service.
Thank you for the lovely review Emily - so pleased you had a wonderful time! Happy New Year!
We got married just up the road, had our reception at the winking prawn and come every year to celebrate my wifes birthday and our aniversary, we come several times a year. the food is always good but the crispy shrimps that my son had were embarassing, just limp greenery that no one eats with a few prawns on top, it could be done so much better with a little imagination. The waitress was very nice but the male waiter was not!
Another brilliant meal at the Winking Prawn, you guys are so good at what you do and it’s always great food with great service. Thank you!
Thank you so much for the lovely review Gemma! We really appreciate the feedback and hope to see you again soon!
Quirky, different with a very interesting fish menu. Great garlic prawns followed by monkfish with really nice medley of veg. Rounded off with creme brule topped -unusually - with stoned prunes. Not cheap but good value for a first class and filling meal. We will be back soon.
Thank you so much for the lovely feedback Chris! We hope to see you again soon!
A child’s dessert menu would be good. Large dessert’s too much for children who don’t like ice-cream
Thank you for the feedback Karen, we really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts.
Very pleasant evening . Food very good
Thank you for the lovely review!
This is our 5th visit to the Winking Prawn. We visit each time we stay in Salcombe. The Atmosphere and setting were excellent. The staff very friendly and the service was good. The food was delicious and although a little expensive is worth it for the whole experience. We will be back on our next visit
Thank you for the lovely review! We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Enjoyed the meal but with a disabled person in tow, we weren't impressed that you have to go 100 yards down the road for a disability-friendly toilet (not very logical) . It wouldn't take much to convert your existing toilets to be disability-friendly.
Truly lovely meal
Our party enjoyed enjoyed every minute of the experience.
Everything lovely, but very pricey.. Understand location, but it was raining and view could not see..
Great meal, friendly service.
We have enjoyed eating at your establishment on a few occasions, however not only have the prices gone up considerably, the food was a huge disappointment. The baked cod used to be out of this world, this time it was nothing special. On the menu it says topped with cheese, sun dried tomatoes, basil and pine nuts. It certainly was topped with cheese and tomatoes, the basil and pine nuts were nowhere to be seen. The steak come out cold and had to be sent back. I am afraid we will think twice before returning.
Fantastic food and incredible setting
Food amazing as were the staff. Had a fantastic evening.
Very enjoyable. A friend recommended the Winking Prawn to us, and we will do the same.
A lovely family evening at the Winking Prawn. The food was delicious and the service very good. There is a real buzz in the restaurant
We were very disappointed with the experience. The location is fabulous but considering the costs of the meals, we found the food very average. My wife had the lobster which yielded about two small portions. I had the hake and it didn't give me the wow factor. The service was too quick, I would have liked some time to savour the atmosphere.
Hi Chris, Thank you for taking the time to give your feedback to us. I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your experience with us. Did you make your complaints to staff at the time? Our lobster in particular is usually a favourite, and a sizeable one at that, so if there was a problem we would of course have done whatever we could to fix it at the time, but of course there is not a lot we can do after the fact. I am pleased you enjoyed the atmosphere however. Best wishes
Food at the winking prawn was completely average and cost London prices. One of us had a filet steak which was cut in 1/2 and then grilled, which is not standard and a first for us! We were given prosecco glasses with lipstick stains on them and had to request new ones. Presentation of the food was awkward (they gave us salad for three people in two bowls for example). It is a cute place in a 90's yesteryear kind of way. Given the opportunity to do it over again, I would choose to sit outside and opt for the bbq menu rather than sit inside and eat from the full menu. On that note, I found it bizarre that you have to sit in a certain part of the restaurant to eat from one menu or the other. One member of our party wanted the bbq and had to concede to the other three which did not.
First evening visit. Really good service and food. Would have had the lobster if it had been bigger.
Unique place and location, delicious food and great variety of fresh seafood. I'll come back!
Our young Scottish very tall waiter was excellent
