About The White Swan
The White Swan in Fence is a small lively local pub that serves great food, wine and Timothy Taylors award winning real ales. Chef Tom Parker is rapidly gaining a deserved reputation for outstanding food, Awards include a Michelin Bib Gourmand and 2 AA rosettes whilst The Good Pub Guide and Casque Mark also recognise the quality of Real Ale that is being served.
We are regulars and the service and quality never dips. A fabulous place to eat gourmet food at great prices in a great atmosphere served by friendly and attentive staff. Well deserving of their recent Michelin star. Superb service this Sunday by Olivia and Laura.
Heaven on Earth ... proper food with no airs and graces ...
The food was amazing, the service was friendly yet attentive and the depth of knowledge of the staff in respect of the menu was exceptional. Would highly recommend anyone who loves good food to visit.
Consistently wonderful food , welcoming staff, this place ticks all the boxes, well worth the 3 hour round trip to eat at The White Swan .
We have been before and we will come again.
Never fails to deliver - fantastic food and great service.
It’s a wonderful gem in that it might be seen as small but it’s diesnt half shine!!! Great venue with great staff
Great evening, the service was fantastic... a little eager at times but we were aware that we only had 2 hours on the table. The food was gorgeous and excellently priced. Olivia the front of house waitress was superb and very attentive. As was Gareth... The cheese board was fabulous!
Having been on our list of places to eat for a while, we’re regretting leaving it so long. Will be back very soon. Food to die for, excellent friendly staff.
The food and service is excellent.
Had the 5 course tasting menu and loved it. The beef literally melted in my mouth. Highly recommend it
A true hidden gem. The unassuming facade gives no clue st to the treat lurking behind . This is cooking of the very highest standard and promotes the White Swan to the Premier League. It takes it out of the Gastropub category , excellent as some of those are , and places it firmly into the finest dining category. Simply glorious. Wish we'd known about this sooner
Food is very carefully prepared and it shows the years of hard work needed to achieve Michelin status and this is a worthy accolade. I'm not a lover of earthenware pottery for all courses. I think that it does not show the food off to its best potential. Some courses a bit brown, and on beige pottery look dull. Tastes in the dishes excellent. Some courses need spoons as well in order to get the bits that a fork cannot reach. Room decor very bland. I know that it is a pub, but surely even a pub is allowed to have colour? Congratulations to Tom. Looking forward to the new private dining room as a space to have a larger party of people
Love, love, love The White Swan. Unique experience. Made to feel welcome and special. Just keep doing what you are doing.... Can’t wait till the next time!
Our second visit to the White Swan and just as good as the first time, hard to improve on perfect!! Thanks for a lovely time.
Everyone agreed we d had a wonderful meal with great service and we d give you at least 6 stars if only we could
Amazing food, great service and lovely atmosphere, a very enjoyable relaxed lunch- thank you
Had a great meal
We had a wonderful lunch in very relaxed surroundings and we will definitely be back for more! We have already recommended the White Swan to family and friends.
With such a limited menu it was disappointing that one of the Mains wasn’t available.
tables for four people are way too small, maybe add table clothes and candles
We travelled from Manchester to visit The White Swan, and it was definitely worth the trip. The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff were all really friendly. The food was delicious and exceptionally great value for money. I will definitely be returning :)
