About The White Horse Inn, Sutton
The White Horse inn is a modern British pub in an 18th century setting.
Situated in the centre of the village of Sutton, in the lee of the South Downs and in the heart of the South Downs national park, it is welcoming and relaxing.
We are a free house serving local cask ales, beers and wines together with locally sourced, high quality, traditional British pub food with a contemporary accent.
Acquired by the current owners in September 2017, the pub has been skilfully refurbished to 21st century standards by local craftsmen.
Our beautiful en-suite rooms provide all modern amenities and comfort in a traditional, country setting.
Please join us to drink, eat, stay; you’ll be certain of a warm welcome.
Lovely meal, fantastic , friendly, polite service, Will definitely be back !!
The White Horse has been very tastefully done and the food was beautifully cooked and presented. We will definitely be back and will recommend you. Well done.
Lovely Sunday lunch and great service and atmosphere. Every meal we have had have all been varied and delicious. Super to have the White Horse open again in the village.
Everything is wonderful - but can we go back to the smoky butter?! (The one before the houmous type one!)
Great evening. Delicious food. Only marginal criticism is that our initial drinks order got very mangled - but the bar was very busy when we arrived. Great addition to the local area
I think the pub has been refurbished well and feels friendly and welcoming. However the menu still needs some tweeking! I ate with you on Tues night and the 'locals special' was excellent and excellent value at £20 for two courses. Yesterday we came for lunch and two of our friends ordered the chicken Caesar salad. It wasn't really recognisable as such with a piece of chicken breast and a slice of chicken/ham? terrine with a very small amount of lettuce and dressing. At £16 it was not good value. The salt beef sandwich at £9 was excellent. We were also surprised to see such a very limited lunch menu - only two sandwiches and no lite bites. As a pub that is popular with walkers you will need to offer more choice at lunchtime!
Great Sunday roast - warm ambience - excellent desserts!
Great evening, food highly recommended.
Best Sunday Lunch I've had in a long time. Beautifully cooked and tasty as hell. The service was a little slow at first, but the when the food came we were very happy and completely forgot any minor niggles! The pub seems to have been recently refurbished and looks great, and it is situated in a nice, quiet South Downs village.
Excellent meal and wines - our best yet!
We were a party of 15. The communication running up to the Sunday lunch was excellent, we were made very welcome. The food was generally excellent and, in particular, those that had the beef said it was excellent. We went on a lovely 5 mile walk before eating and all in all had an excellent day.
Superb - really lives up to the new owners vision! More like a very comfortable country house hotel than a pub. Great ambience - lovely food - extensive wine list - attentive service. This was the second of what I'm sure will be many more fabulous meals at this lovely pub. Thank you Billy & team.
We stayed for two nights in January. Lovely pub with beautiful rooms and ambience. The food was magnificent and the welcome, like the open fires, was warm and inviting. We will return.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal with friends. The service, food and atmosphere were fantastic. Can’t wait to book again!
Dante (our wee cottage) was a real and luxurious treat after a long Downland walk and was dog friendly. The welcome and service from the WH team was excellent, the ambience soft, stylish and relaxing. The food was delicious and fresh, the menu excellent. Very many thanks! Molly the dog and her walking chums.
Very nice to see that, even after a relatively short period since opening, we could return and find some interesting and very pleasant changes to the short, but very good, menu. So, a return visit was well worthwhile.
An excellent lunch with friendly, welcoming staff. Delicious well presented food and good atmosphere. The two dogs in our party were welcomed too! Will certainly return.
Friendly efficient staff, excellent food. Dining room ambience is a little dull but would be improved with tablecloths and candles.
Fantastic food and a very warm welcome.
Excellent Sunday lunch in relaxing surroundings. Thoroughly recommended. We will be back!
Excellent food and service - with cozy fireplaces going- love the burger with beef shin on top!
great food and service was efficient and friendly
Despite arriving at 4 o'clock (following our walk along The Midhurst Way) when the bar was full of people, we received a warm and friendly welcome and were soon seated with food and drink. Later we dined in comfort and the food, drinks and service were of the highest quality. Breakfast the following morning was most enjoyable. Overall, an excellent dining experience. Cannot wait to go back! Peter and Gill.
Thank you so much for such an amazing meal, and making our friends feel so welcome (including their dog), even producing for one of them the most delicious vegan dishes. We will see you very soon, and so will they!!
Charming service and staff with delicious food - best burger ever with beef shin topping. Amazing lamb pie - scallop in the shell and perfect wines by the glass to complement each dish! Two fireplaces burning add the extra warmth and ambience too! Desserts are a must!!
