A beautiful meal in a beautiful setting and very lovely staff.
Held a family birthday lunch on Sunday for my Dad. Can thoroughly recommend The White Horse for this type of event. There were 11 of us plus a small child. The venue is bright and airy with plenty of space. Good facilities for dining inside or outside. The food was well cooked, nicely presented and very tasty, delivered to all 11 of us at the same time. The highlight was the service. There is a large team on hand, all courteous, attentive, prompt and very willing to help. All my guests were very well looked after, nothing was too much trouble. Well done and thank you to Steven and his splendid team.
Fantastic time again
Great venue, great service, great food
Lovely decor, although a view of the carpark could be better hidden with scrubs. We had the prawn tempera starter for £8.50 and we got 4 not so big prawns, in a lovely bed of salad. Very well presented and delicious, but too expensive for the amount of prawns and their size. The mains.. I had the mussels which were plentiful and in a lovely creamy sauce which I enjoyed. The fries that accompany them wasn't necessary and I would have preferred them as a side if I wanted rather than pay for them with the dish as they already came with nice brown bread. My daughter had the kids burger which she said I made better at home, so not as successful. It was a bit burnt and an odd round ballish shape making it difficult to eat for a child. The tomato sauce coming in sachets was a bit casual, considering the nice gastro pub surroundings. Waiting staff were plentiful and pleasant if not a bit unaware of their customers' needs. We did wait a bit too long for the main meal and ages to be asked if we wanted desserts. My 9 year old daughter decided she wanted the chocolate fondant of which we waited a while for. It looked amazing when it came out. I had 2 spoons full and it was good, but not a proper fondant. I realise this isn't a Mitchillen stared restaurant or anything, so it was acceptable. Presentation wise the food is great. Taste wise the food is good too. Service could be a bit better. Would I go back, yes. The menu could do with some items that you just don't cook already at home. I cook everything they have on their menu. Come on British gastro pubs give us some interesting food please. If they had a better menu I'd give them 4 stars, just a bit run if the mill meals for my liking.
Hello, we were unfortunately very disappointed with our afternoon tea. The sandwiches were dry around the edges, the scones were not as good as expected (they didn't seem freshly baked & were not the usual scone consistency) and there was also only 1 each where as at a standard afternoon tea you would usually get 2 each. Also the pots of jam & cream were too small! A positive were that there were 2 of every cake so you didn't have to share. We were also never checked on during our afternoon tea or asked whether we wanted anymore drinks which normally would be on offer for as much tea as you wanted. The staff were friendly just not very attentive & we were left with empty plates etc. nobody cleared our table. So for £18 we all felt disappointed and would not recommend and it was a real shame as it was a special occasion. I have had lunch & dinner here and the food has been fantastic so the afternoon tea dissatisfaction was a surprise. The atmosphere & setting is lovely though. I hope this feedback helps to improve your afternoon tea's moving forward. Thanks.
Really enjoyed our meal at the White Horse. Seemed to be nice, fresh ingredients and nicely presented. Prices are slightly on the higher side compared to similar eateries. However the one thing that knocked my rating down to 4 stars instead of 5 was our waiting staff were not that attentive. We had to call them over every time we wanted something , ie: ready to order, more drinks etc. Customer care is the most important aspect of catering (I've worked in catering all my life) so definitely a 5 star rating if we had been looked after slightly better.
Would be great to see some vegan desserts. .
Great evening fantastic service Michelin star food Great cocktails
Not the best experience, food burnt which had to be sent back, it took so long everyone else had finished. This also seemed like it was a complete hinderance for the staff! Food was expensive but we wouldn’t mind paying if the food and service was worth it. Lovely venue, probably wouldn’t come back to eat.
We went for lunch it was quite expensive, we had a few starters and a salad between the two of us, one cider and two small glasses of wine the bill came to £70! When we got home my husband had to have 2 dairy lea sandwiches he was so hungry. The bread served with olive oil & balsamic dips was also stale. Shame as it really is a beautiful venue and staff are very attentive.
Lovely place, I tried the vegan curry this time, not as good as the dishes I've tried previously. Very sadly they didn't have the usual delightful vegan section on the desserts. Such a shame. I often went their just for dessert but won't be able to do that now 😔
Came with family for my husbands birthday. Lovely roast dinner. Friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely return
Super venue, good food with good service. Thank you
We have always had great service but it was poor yesterday, had to wait ages to ask for everything and drinks took a while to arrive. Even had to leave a few drinks behind and not order dessert due to the service, Not what we would expect!
Had a very nice lunch in the bar area.. Found the food good and value for money.
Our first time here and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Great service, fantastic food. Nicely decorated too. Will definitely be back
We really enjoyed our celebrations at the White Horse, really well looked after by staff. Everybody loved the venue and the food.
Extremely pleased with the service and quality of the food.
I would like to say that as the organiser of the event we had at your hotel that we could not have asked for better service right from beginning with my enquiries through to the event on the evening. The manager was very helpful as were the other staff who assisted with tking deposits ,payments and each attendees details. On the evening our food arrived on time, was served to us well and the waiters were all polite very attentive. All in all a wonderful experience for all assisted by the manager and restaurant staff.
We had a lovely meal on Mother's Day, food was served hot and delicious ! Unfortunately one of the main dishes had run out but I guess only to be expected on such a busy day. Staff were so helpful and nothing too much trouble. We are already looking forward to our return visit. Only slight niggle was the acoustics were extremely loud in the main dining area, but again it was an extremely busy service so accept that.
Considering it was a set Mother's Day menu there was no incentive for the mother as in a free glass of presscco would of been a nice gesture! The roast lamb was amazing but disappointed with the roast potatoes I'm sure they were bought in frozen product the meal came up within 5 minutes of ordering so not exactly fresh & not piping hot other than that was a very pleasant meal & great service!
It was Mother’s Day and the staff were working exceptally hard but with a smile well done
Starters came out and were good. But mains were cold and even when we sent a few back they came back still cold. Also messed up order and brought my mum beef not lamb. Then she had to wait a while for hers. I asked for my pudding to be really hot and again it came out on the cooler side of warm. Just felt it was not managed well. No one was over seeing our food order coming out and felt sorry for the young staff bringing our food.
