About The White Horse
15th Century Coaching Inn, now the setting for modern a Gastro Pub, serving fresh homemade food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, seven days a week. Bar area is open all day, everyday for coffees, soft drinks, light snacks and a wide range premium beers, exceptional wines and dazzling cocktails.
Lovely Sunday roast . Felt more staff training required. Had to ask for teaspoons & sugar with our coffees. Table next to ours had to ask for cutlery to eat their dinner . My husbands beer was cleared from table , when he hadn’t finished it (he had gone to restrooms). Staff petting dogs in bar , then continuing working. Maybe just little things but do leave an impression . But the food was very good. So front of house letting the side down.
Staff were friendly but we waited an hour for our dessert
A very pleasant evening. The food was lovely, the servcie attentive but not over the top. Good atmosphere on a Friday night abd very good value for money.
Lovely atmosphere great service. Overpriced though
Worst fish and chips I have had for a long time. Also appeared to be very little vegetable on the menu, either as part of dishes or as side dishes - not even a side salad.
Really excellent, friendly service and delicious food. We were a big party and the staff were v helpful before the event as well as providing just the right level of attention throughout the occasion.
It's always a great experience at The White Horse!
We all found the menu was brilliant. The options were superb. We loved what we had.
Fabulous service, really nice food. Lovely that we werent’t hurried. And that we were made to feel welcome despite being a little muddy from parkrun.
Beautiful location and the staff were all really helpful and friendly.
Great friendly staff
The staff could not do enough to accommodate us, but the food is not something to rave on about. We had the private room which was freezing cold even though the radiators were on. There were a few gluten free issues but they were resolved quickly. As a pre-order there should be a column stating dietary requirements. Therefore each guest can be highlighted as GF etc.
Great food and drink, friendly staff even under pressure.
We have been to The White Horse a number of times as a couple and so suggested it as the location for meeting up with some friends. After sitting down at 2pm we then needed to get the attention of someone to order a drink and then waited a further 30mins to have our order taken, again after us getting someone’s attention. Our order arrived (4 x roast beef) and as always was lovely. However then has to wait and chase 3 times for our sides of parsnips. They finally arrived once we had practically finished the meal. The waiter said he would take the parsnips off and rye to the overall delay offer a round of drinks. He did take the parsnips off but the round of drinks was no where to be seen. Again, the bill came and we needed to ask 2 different waiters, before my husband actually walked to the till to pay the bill. As mentioned the food and atmosphere here is lovely and that’s why we return but the service was quite simply shocking. Yes it was a very busy Sunday afternoon however this should not impact the experience of the customer. My husband and I were in fact a little embarrassed for suggesting our friends drove there from Waltham Abbey.
Fantastic venue, staff was very helpfull and friendly. All our guests enjoyed food especialy mini salmon croissants. Thank you everyone for making our evening special.
After eating here a couple of weeks ago I was very impressed and took my family for Sunday lunch but was disappointed. The waitress was not very friendly and everything seemed an effort. The food was not cooked how we asked, steak overcooked, chicken dry and no cheese on a cheeseburger. When I asked about red wine I was just told what was on offer, not the price and also the same with the steak. I also thought the portions were on the small side. I have recommended your place to a few other people and hope they have a better experience.
We had an amazing evening. The food was excecellent as was the service. The only thing which didn't match the rest of the brilliant evening was the drinks were very slow to arrive on both drinks orders.
Waitress was lovely , food was fine, except chips were oily and not very nice , lovely relaxed atmosphere , thought expensive fir what we had
What a lovely way to spend lunchtime. Service was friendly and efficient and all of the staff welcoming. A pleasure.
Great Food , Beautifully décor thoroughly enjoyed The White Horse!
the steakin the steak ciabatta was over cooked and so tough could hardly chew it!
Overall a very poor dining experience with staff who seemed like they’d never been to a restaurant before let alone worked in one. Limited menu was full of spelling errors and included a dish only available for one day. Disappointed with the manager’s attitude and would have loved to have becaome regulars as this is local to us. Main dishes were very poor and portion sizes varied greatly. Hot/cold dishes don’t work well and a Saturday dinner or burger or ham egg and chips seemed not in keeping with the restaurant or the prices. Unlikely to return or recommend I’m afraid.
