Our group were all very satisfied and enjoyed the experience
A lovely evening with wonderful food. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
As a coeliac I appreciate it is always more difficult to provide good gluten free substitute but the bread and scone were particularly unpalatable the shortbread inedible. I have made these myself so I know it can be done. The other two cream teas were fine.
We had the seven course tasting menu and it was an absolute delight. Really lovely food and a very special experience. I would highly recommend to everyone!
We had a fabulous time, you always make us feel like we are the only ones there, food lovely as always, all the staff are friendly, attentive, happy & will do anything of you. Thank you also for my mums 60th birthday cake treat, it was very much appriciated.
One of the best meals we have had at the White Horse in a long time, both courses were cooked and presented very well the wine was also excellent !
We had a lovely afternoon tea. The staff looking after us were wonderful and the setting was charming.
Went for dinner with family and 4 young grandchildren for my husband's birthday and our anniversary. Very disappointed with slow service, well over an hour before we got any food and only after my husband asked when we would get it. Grandchildren were getting very restless and hungry waiting so long. It spoilt everyone's evening which was meant to be a special occasion. Would not return.
love the hotel. will be returning best wishes. Eric Ann Watson
Having been to the white horse on previous occasions for afternoon tea, it was my first choice again and we weren’t dissolved. Lovely setting with great service and excellent food. Highly recommend the white horse for afternoon tea.
Wonderful cuisine and a great menu. Professional waiting staff. And the best Espresso Martini ever!
Fabulous way to spend the afternoon with my parents who were visiting from NI. Thank you.
Lovely birthday meal for my uncle. Superb service. Thank you
An anniversary night out with the tasting menu and wine flight, generally a great night with and interesting menu and accompanying wine selection that we really enjoyed. On the down side, pre-dinner drinks in the bar took 20 minutes to be served, the 'snack' was overcooked and unfortunately we were seated next to a table of four, with one quite loud guest who had a knowledge of all trades (food & wine), but unfortunately was a master of none, however his party listened intently!
Went here for Afternoon Tea today for a friends birthday. Although it wasn’t awful there are a fair few areas for improvement. We arrived at 3 for a 3.30pm sitting and were directed to the bar and left there. At 3.40 we reminded reception we were still here and shown to our table. The Library room isn’t the best setting for afternoon, it’s rather dark and dingy and lacks atmosphere. It was 20 mins before anyone took our tea order and asked us for any dietary requirements (something I’d provided at the time of booking) The sandwiches were good, able to swap in and out fillings and reorder more. I would say try the trout as it really doesn’t taste like horseradish! The scones, jam, cream and lemon curd were really good - and you get 2 each (1 fruit and 1 plain) The rest of the cakes/pastries were below par. The macaron lacked flavour, one other cake was rather rubbery and the lemon mille feuile definitely wasn’t lemon. The millionaire shortbread was good, especially if you have a sweet tooth. The last thing to mention was the service. We didn’t leave until 6 and that wasn’t due to us having too much fun! I think next time I’ll stick to a cream tea!
We booked for an afternoon tea on a Sunday afternoon. The usual room for afternoon tea room was full, so we were very thankful that you agreed to serve us in the restaurant. The tea was nice, but perhaps a bit overpriced for the standard of food. However I have to say that the service wasn't great and we wondered if we had been forgotten at some points. Even with many waiters/waitresses walking past we didn't catch anyone's eye, even though we were actively trying to catch attention. It seemed we were invisible at times and so we got up to ask if our scones were on their way or not. I appreciate afternoon tea is at a leisurely pace, but it seemed like a long time (~45 mins after finishing the sarnies, perhaps this is normal?). Nevertheless if you include a tip on the itemised bill of an expensive tea, I'd advise that you ensure that the waiting staff are sufficiently trained to look out for tables.
Service was slow maybe because there was a large group in a side room. The food was very good.
Great service, nice atmosphere, good food. We enjoyed our Sunday lunch.
Good food and service but little atmosphere, with only three tables occupied.
Lovely venue.great tea.friendly staff.only thing I would change would be different chairs as the ones we sat on didn't have any arms or side supports.
Consistently excellent - one of our favourite places to dine in the area. Lunch for 4 on Sunday no different- all 4 of us had different meals and they were all first class. A brilliant place!
Ordering a Grapefruit & Lemonade, and having the waiter return to say you didn't have grapefruit flavoured lemonade, didn't augur well for the evening. Garden peas should have a lovely softness to them and not be 'nutty' - horrible! Probably dried peas that weren't soaked, or just too old. And . . . Banoffee Pie! It's one thing, not a kit of bits. This came as - a slice of banana with a sugar glaze, two bits of banana flavoured ice cream and some blobs of fudge; all separate on a plate. Sorry, that's NOT Banoffee Pie, very disappointing. Attentive service though.
Delicious side vegetables and exceptionally crisp pastry on my vegetarian tart
The service we received from the first phone call was impeccable. Sophie kindly booked our table and was very efficient with sending over menu options. On the day we had fantastic service and lovely food. We all had a cream tea on this occasion which were beautifully served. I really couldn't recommend the whole experience more.
