We offer all that you would expect from a casual drink, or maybe dinner in our restaurant or stay over with Bed and Breakfast, whatever you requirements we will be pleased to help.
Following three years of restoration work the hotel reopened in 2008 and now offers guests 31 individually designed bedrooms and suites with 24 hour room service, an award winning brasserie and the perfect place to host private events.
Afternoon Tea is served daily, at two sittings: 12.00 & 15.30
did not get our normal table, despite asking for it, had to get bread from the trolley as did not receive any, staff always nice, however the restaurant fell short of its normal high standard .
Fab meal with great service chips were to die for as was the chateau briand. Definitely will be back soon
Lovely afternoon tea. Thank you
Delightful afternoon with friends. Thank you.
Lovely meal sitting outside in the courtyard.
Another wonderful end of term celebration and our second time at the White Horse. We will be back for Christmas!
Thank you for accommodating my wife's dietary requirements, we will recommend you to anyone that needs extra care taken with food preparation / ingredient choices.
We visited the White Horse for the first time this week. What a surprise! We have walked past the venue many times and are now kicking ourselves that we hadn't gone in sooner. The setting is incredible - wonderful surrounding, attentive staff and a great choice on the menu that featured a lot of local suppliers. We chose to sit inside but sat near the open doors to the courtyard. What a wonderful space. The courtyard is extremely pretty and feels very relaxed. All in all a wonderful place for a lunch. We are already planning our next visit and will be heading in for dinner very soon.
Great venue. Excellent food and service. Could not be faulted.
We had a lovely evening here. The food and drinks were impeccable as was the service (as always). We are local and are so lucky to have this hotel just around the corner from us.
Really enjoyable; great food and atmosphere. The staff were exceptionally helpful and polite.
Pleasant ambience, no hassle
We enjoyed our meal at The White Horse.
Great service and quality of the food and whole dining experience never disappoints.
Our experience at the White Horse was exemplary from the moment I made an inquiry about gluten-free options for afternoon tea to the moment we left with a fantastic goody bag of leftovers from our delightful afternoon tea, The staff were helpful, friendly and attentive throughout. The afternoon tea was exceptional, including both a standard and gluten-free version that were carefully separated. The room for afternoon tea was cute. The best afternoon tea and experience at the White Horse. Thank you!
Have visited several times. Staff attentive and after tea superb. Thank you White Horse.
Brought my (veggie) Dad for the Father’s Day lunch - lovely atmosphere with the live jazz. Delicious food as always but we were disappointed by the limited range for vegetarians, with only one option for main. This surprised us having always found the white horse to offer a few interesting and varied options. Admittedly you offered the single veggie option from the regular menu when we asked but as this was a similar grain dish this didn’t offer much variety. The service was ok but we had about 6 different people come to our table and a couple of them struggled to understand me (I have a local Southern English accent) resulting in a wrong drink being brought. This was swiftly rectified by the next waitress. Everyone was friendly, attentive and polite. I loved my main (baked plaice) but could have used a finger bowl for the accompanying shellfish. I asked for one which again caused some confusion so I ended up getting an empty bowl and filling it with water from the table myself. Again, not the end of the world but for a pricey meal with a pre-included service fee I think this need could have been better anticipated/met. Overall still a lovely lunch and I’d still come back. However, I would be more weary of bringing vegetarians, which is a shame as previously this had stood out as a good option for this group.
Had the most fabulous evening, food was wonderful as ever. Waiting staff were amazing. A real fine dining experience.
Great service and delicious sandwiches and cakes, couldn't eat it all but we could take it home!
I have been for afternoon tea at the white horse about 10 times now and it never disappoints. The staff were lovely and very helpful attending to our every whim.
very quiet.... excellent background music.... food ok but a little sparce....
A delightful evening in a peaceful and attractive environment. We loved being able to sit outside and eat as the evening was warm. The food was delicious, the fish cooked very well, a rarity, and small touches like the complimentary starter appreciated. Service was subtle and good. Thank you. Helen
