About The White Hart Duffield
This superbly renovated pub and restaurant is the perfect setting for many occasions. Whether it’s coffee with Mum, dinner with friends, a pint with the boys or enjoying the paper with the dog. The White Hart’s extensive range of food, beer and wine can satisfy all appetites.
Our waitress was lovely - really helpful and attentive and she coped very well with our large group. Salad leaves were a bit limp?
The meal was lovely but the service was disappointing. The team couldn’t really be bothered and lacked courtesy - the menus were thrown on the table and there was no check back. The outside of the pub looks really nice but when we walked inside everyone’s mood dropped as it was not what we expected.it had been a warm day but was freeezing inside, there was little to no decoration in the restaurant. It was also a little too noisy
Loved the pizza and the cheesy chips were even better!
GOOD SERVICE AND GOOD FODD AT A REASONABLE PRICE
The service we received from the White Hart on this occasion was vastly different from previous times. The service was slow despite being half empty and a number of staff standing around the bar areas. We had to ask them to take our food order, then after ordering coffees they seem to take ages so we cancelled them in the end. The football was on and the carvery staff seemed more interested in that, the spoons on the carvery veg dishes were burning hot, but staff didn't warn us of this and my 10 year old having served herself suffered some discomfort. It was Mothering Sunday but there didn't seem to be any special reference to this like other places that might have offered a free glass of house wine for the mum in the group or something that makes you feel valued as a client. Our previous visits encountered a high quality gastro pub with amazing food and great service, this was not the same place and we won't be going again.
Lovely atmosphere, we had a carvery and the food was lovely!
Always a pleasure
Lovely meal - all of the family really enjoyed it.
The atmosphere, service and attention to detail has deteriorated since our last visit.
We arrived having booked a table to be told there was no Roasts left, we could only have Pizza. I asked why as the menu said you served for another hour and was told “well, we’ve been busy”. Not great at all.
Not been for a while- food drink and service better than last time. Will return quite soon.
Drinks expensive. Food lovely. Bar staff very friendly and helpful. Disappointed by not being offered a choice of cream or custard with dessert...chocolate ice cream doesn't really go with Sticky toffee pudding!
We didn't stay for a meal on Sunday as no Roast available, only pizzas, very disappointing!
The sunday menu on their website didin’t match the menu we were given once we were seated. A little disappointing as we had already decided on what we wanted to eat from the online menu. The food we ordered was lovely though
The food was poor, the steaks were tough. Everything was over-salted. Dessert was overly sweet. £5 for a bottle of sparkling water!!! I booking we were told there would be a Tamla Motown disco. We went up to the disco twice and it was not tamla, just had under age and drunk people and playing Bon Jovi - multiple tracks in a row. It was so bad we left before midnight
Unfortunately our pre order had not been picked up, even though we sent it through 3 days prior to our visit. Although we had a drinks order taken when we sat down, nobody actually approached us at all to discuss a food order. There were 12 of us seated at a reserved table so this seemed a little odd. After approaching staff about our 35 minute wait, emails were checked and the pre-order found. We had to wait a further 45 minutes for the food to be prepared. My brother also had to wait a further 10 minutes for his gammon to arrive as this seemed to have been missed. On the plus side, when the food did arrive, it was delicious and we received a £40 deduction from the bill to compensate for our wait for the food and lack of attention regarding the food order. Bar staff were very courteous and attentive, however the young girl in the restaurant did seem to lack initiative and stood dormant for long periods of time.
We were called 15 minutes before our scheduled arrival to be told there was no food left.
A great place for lunch
See Facebook review.
Friendly and really nice staff. Chocolate brownie from X'mas menu was 10/10. Only thing I would complain about is that when booking the table, staff weren't so responsive to emails which is abit difficult for the organiser.
Very disappointed it was cold in the pub and thankfully we weren’t sat in the conservatory! I did express to one of the waitresses about the fire going out & that it was cold but she didn’t seem to be bothered!! The steak & ale pie was like warm chips old with gravy poured over them to disguise that nachos starter dreadful. This place used to be so nice won’t be recommending & definitely not value for money !!!!!
We ordered pizza for my grandchildren and waited to collect carvery meals. We were told the pizzas were nearly ready so we could collect our carvery. Whilst we werewaiting at the carvery the two pizzas were dispatched but to the wrong table!! Because we now had our carvery meals it would have been too long to wait whilst more pizza was cooked. We had to console a very unhappy grand daughter and rearrange their lunches to carvery. We were offered free drinks which was very much appreciated. However it was obviously clear that although I accept it was a very busy lunchtime very little training in organisation or communication had been given to the staff. The lady who appeared to be in charge was trying her best but with little success and the only person who must be congratulated is the young chef on the carvery. He was extremely professional and kept his cool under extreme circumstances.
Good but not excellent carvery! Waitress in contrast was excellent very helpful and attentive!
The back room where we are was dark so I had to ask to put the lights on to give it more atmosphere, there were lots of children running around near our table while we were eating which was off putting and it felt like the place was being run by young adults.. would of been nice to see the land lord or land lady ?
