About The White Hart
The White Hart is a 15th century coaching inn set in beautiful countryside just outside the village of Great Yeldham in North Essex. Our award winning venue functions as a restaurant and hotel, but is also the perfect location if you are planning a wedding.
A lovely place for a meal and the staff are very friendly. The food was fabulous and I would certainly go again and recommend to friends from my first experience.
Lovely friendly and helpful. They accommodated us when we had a mini set back with time as it was a surprise meal for my mums 75th birthday. Tony and his staff are amazing. Thank you. X
Excellent venue. Staff very welcoming and polite. Food delicious. Our guest were also impressed.
Very polite and welcoming staff. Great menu and our food choices were very well cooked and presented and reasonably priced. Lovely old building and well maintained. Will certainly be coming back soon.
We really enjoyed our meal. Service was good also. We ordered a bottle of house red. When we got the bill we were charged £24. I thought this was quite expensive for a house wine? Apart from that we had a good meal and would recommend
Lovely evening. Staff were very attentive and friendly.
Food was amazing however I didn’t feel the price quite reflected what it was worth. Service was spot on. Not very busy at all which is concerning. I would definitely return however would be wary of the price. Also the menu online was not the one we were presented with which was a little disappointing and only the bar menu was available which again was disappointing
Lovely food and wonderful staff
Wonderful old building and great restaurant and bar
Gorgeous food , presented exquisitely, all served in a lovely setting , will definitely be booking again.
We had a lovely evening. The food was delicious, the service was very good too. We had a lovely table situated in the bay window. A little more light would have been perfect. We did ask and they brought us some small candles for the table. This did help and made the evening complete.
lovely food great service.
Super service and value for money
The barman/waiter was attentive without being overbearing. The wedding guests spoilt it slightly by smoking right outside the door where we were sitting but the waiter soon moved them on politely but firmly. All in all an enjoyable evening.
I did miss the crunch of gravel under the tyres as I arrived [ho ho!]. Seriously, this charming old inn was a lovely place to have dinner with friends.
The quality of food was exceptional, however the service was very poor, we had the pawn dish as a starter and we asked on two occasions for finger bowls to accompany the starter eventually a very small bowl with cold water arrived for three people to use. we ordered roasted parsnips which we chased but never arrived, but where on the bill. Great food but poor service, staff seemed more intent on arranging and clearing other tables around us than look after those being used.
good food horrible tap water
Wonderful service and lots of help with my elderly father. Wonderful staff and a special thanks to Mathew M. What an incredible young waiter. A credit your restaurant. We will return again .
We had a wonderful leisurely lunch yesterday. The food was excellent. So tasty. And the service was also fab. Our waiter was very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. Lovely, relaxed atmosphere. And the garden at the back is beautiful for a wander after dinner. My 1 year old nephew was very happy.
Fabulous food and service . We will be regulars I’m sure
Food is delicious. Welcome is always friendly. Service cannot do enough to make sure you have a lovely experience. A beautiful place that is beautifully kept. A good selec6of drinks and the menu has a great selection covering a multitude of tastes. Well presented food with adaptation never being any trouble. Highly recommended.
Mixed emotions The venue itself is lovely, indoors has lots of low beams and great decor. When I arrived it was very quiet ordered a soda and lime and was sat down with the menu at a bar table. After I had ordered I was taken to my table in the lovely room.the menu was the bar menu and a bit limited but ok. I was served a hot standard white roll that was ok. The starter was a pigeon dish with a lovely jus. Main was supposed to be a very rare sirloin steak with trimmings and onion rings. Sadly the steak, whilst very good quality meat, was vaguely pink, so returned to the kitchen. I was served a second steak perfectly cooked with a tasty sauce ok chips and the required grilled mushroom and tomato which were the already cut ones from my first plate which was ok. Dessert was a tasty but hugely sweet black currant and lemon eton mess with very soft meringue and loads of cream. It wasn’t until the bill arrived that I realised that the prawns I ordered had never arrived either so the waitress returned again with a new bill and gave me free onion rings. Food was good if a bit “delayed”. Toilets were clean if a tad “intimate”. Good food nice and helpful staff, kitchen just needs to be a bit more “together”. Would I return? To be honest not sure.
Absolutely lovely traditional Sunday lunch. Delicious
