About The White Hart
Nestled in the heart of the pretty village of Nettlebed and close to Henley and Marlow. The White Hart is a stylish and comfortable country inn that dates back to the 14th Century and still retains a traditional charm.
Don't take this wrong, as we enjoyed our meal but we weren't told that it was a limited menu when booking the table. The bill was produced at the end but did not take into account that we were on the Meerkat deal. We will be back again though.
2 issues 1 service was not good . 20 minutes for a drinks order pre carvery ! 2 waitress served with long hair not pulled back which actually lingered on the food ( on another table )
Very friendly atmosphere. The waitress took my daughter's allergies very seriously and was most helpful. The food was excellent and the food arrived in very reasonable time. There was a small problem in getting the confirmation email, also in being able to email about it. My email bounced!
1st class service and food. We had a very enjoyable evening and certainly will return
Very nice meal, exceptional service, great value for money
Service was a bit slow but food was lovely.
Atmosphere was lacking as there were only two tables occupied in the restaurant. However, this may have been because a wedding reception was taking place at the same time.
The ribs were awesome, will definitely be back for more. Staff all very friendly.
The food was amazing and the atmosphere was very good toilets where very clean and the staff was very helpful the only bad thing I thought was that the beer was a little expensive at£5.30 a pint
It's lovely to be able to enjoy a Gluten Free Sunday roast, with delicious veg and wonderful gravy. Thank you!
Previous menu was more interesting. Food was bland.
Very nice meal in a very nice atmosphere
Lovely setting, attentive staff. Menu quite limited, would have liked more fish options. Bobotie was underwhelming, topping still liquid and weak spicing. Steaks were very good as were the desserts.
We enjoyed our stay so much that we have just made another booking. Dinner was excellent, I’ve never had such tender ribs. Also the bobotie was superb. Very enjoyable meal.
The bar was very busy delaying drinks which was the only down point. The carvery was excellent and the chef slicing the meat was not shy with the portions. all in all we had a great meal and a nice place to be on a sunday afternoon. will be back
Really nice food, correct service, nice looking restaurant!
A really nice meal in a peaceful location. Best compliment I can pay is I will certainly go back again.
Had a very enjoyable lunch in this lovely historic atmosphere venue. A tasty modern British menu, a very nice Malbec and decent beer too. Access and facilities for my wife who uses a wheelchair were excellent which is a rarity in a heritage building.
Unfortunately not up to the standard of the crown which is where we usually go. Didn’t provide us with menus, then when asked for them, she couldn’t find the children’s ones, so had to google their menu... Then forgot my starter, drinks weren’t forthcoming throughout, and then forgot my coffee at dessert time (only 4 of us). Wife ordered steak, got served with no potato side, so she queried it with them, to which she said they were extra but she’ll provide them for free due to the hassle...when the bill arrives they’d charged for the chips?!. Looking at the menu the steak comes with side of chips/mash etc included, so again had to query it. Had to ask for cutlery for each course as well, and got served Prosecco in a large bottom wine glass, so overall not impressed. Given all the above was surprised when she then asked if we wanted to leave a tip, which made me feel a bit awkward that she was so oblivious to the whole bad service thing. This wasn’t a great treat for Mother’s Day and won’t go there again. Will stick with the Crown as much better and this place is letting the brand down tbh, which is a real shame
We have eaten at the White Hart many times over the years and always regarded it as a solid, no risk option with good steaks. Sadly we had a really disappointing evening. Service was really poor and inattentive, steaks tasteless and/or too sinewy to cut or chew and even a bottle of Prosecco was served warm. It was explained that all the staff were new, both waiters and chefs, but the lack of training was obvious. We really didn’t want to have to complain as doing so tends to ruin the evening but we felt there was no option. Let’s hope that this is a dip and standards will quickly return to previous levels - they better had! The manager was apologetic and we appreciated that he didn’t charge us for the food but we would rather have had an enjoyable and relaxed evening.
Very nice environment, service and food
We stayed for the weekend and enjoyed all aspects.
Enjoyable dining experience
Another great meal at the White Hart.
Excellent service and delicious food.
