A traditional British inn with 14 individually designed bedrooms, roaring fires in winter, heavenly gardens in summer and delicious pub food all year round.
Our menus are all about great quality, locally sourced, simple rustic food. Wherever possible we use local producers, supporting rare heritage breeds and farmers that care about what they’re doing.
From 8am every day we serve our guests and locals alike French Press coffees and the finest English breakfast.
We’ve worked side by side with UE Coffee, the only artisan wood-fired coffee roastery in the UK, whose Master Roasters combine their talent and experience to bring out the optimum taste, aroma and colour to create The Lucky Onion’s truly unique and sustainable house blend of beans from Brazil, Costa Rica and India. Cherish each sip at The Wheatsheaf or grab and go with your coffee of choice in one of our biodegradable, takeaways cups.

Hi, we enjoyed our stay again but there were a couple of things that slightly spoilt our stay - - there were two broken lightbulbs in the room - there is absolutely nowhere to put clothes or bathroom things - it's depressingly dumping things on the floor and the window sill was out because it was really wet each morning from compensation - £300 p/n seemed too much when the room quickly looked really unattractive from having to do that - do get a chest of drawer - or even just some shelves... - the breakfast cereal option didn't include any wholegrain type cereal - e.g. Allbran, Bran Flakes - only plain cornflakes - so very low fibre, and there was only white bread. And no fruit available. It seems odd not to have a healthier option (I'm allergic to nuts so muesli was out). But the evening meals were as nice as ever and the staff are very friendly - thank you.
We had a lovely meal at the Wheatsheaf. The food was excellent, service was first class and the whole ambience/decor/styling is just perfect. Wouldn’t hesitate to return
Always enjoyable. Very high quality cooking and presentation. Warm welcome. Excellent and we are coming back.
Just lovely. Thank u 😊
Excellent dinner on Friday night with family. Food was super -- even better than expected. Service was perfect -- efficient, friendly etc.
Usually one of our favourite places for Sunday roast but left yesterday feeling disappointed. We had a late lunch which arrived very quickly after we ordered. The meat was overcooked and the veggies undercooked! Such as a shame as we usually love it!
We had an absolutely stunning meal at The Wheatsheaf last night. Despite having to adhere to Covid 19 adaptations there was still a lovely atmosphere and staff were welcoming and friendly. All 4 of us enjoyed every course we were served. Would 100% return. Total value for money. My only issue was that the server had to return 3 times to give more information about the specials. These might be better put on a board/ printed out.
Exceptional as always! The Wheatsheaf never disappoints in our experience...Food, wine, service, ambience and also vegan and doggy friendly. What's not to like...
Food was good, service was slow and inattentive
We absolutely loved our lunch here - delicious!
We came for my bfs birthday for lunch and it was HIGHLY recommended by a group of my bfs friends who were visit ONG the Cotswolds a few weeks before. We were originally sat next to a couple who were having the most awful argument and made us incredibly uncomfortable, the staff quickly moved us into another part of the restaurant with no fuss. The food was SPECTACULAR, we shared the mussels to start, the portion is HUGE so plenty for two, they were big and tender and so flavoursome. We then had a the pork belly and the lamb with a side of potatoes and I have to say, two of the best dishes I’ve ever had, so succulent and just melted in the mouth. Amazing chef! The staff were so friendly and chatty and the waitress made our visit even more brilliant. I’d highly recommend a visit!!!!
We visited the Wheatsheaf while staying in the Cotswolds The staff were very friendly and attentive The food was absolutely delicious 10/10 from us !
Fantastic lunch as always. Great menu and delicious food.
A lovely place with a relaxed atmosphere. We enjoyed a fabulous meal. The staff were really polite and attentive.
Lovely restaurant and fantastic service.
I was persuaded back by a friend. After being left out in the cold for too long the service was way better than I had experienced before at the Wheatsheaf. It was good service. Food however was so so. I had the tuna pasta. My friend had the cod which she said was good. One glass of rose was £12. Surely that is too much. It’s tricky out there.
I thought a by much oil on the fish! Otherwise very tasty 😋
High quality food and drink which I really enjoyed -could add a few more veggie options 🤗
We thought that the tables were a bit close considering the COVID19 regulations. There was a lot of salt used in the main dishes. We are not in favour of including a service charge automatically on the bill.
Your food was exceptional. All the arrangement for dealing with COVID 19 were well planned and very reassuring. The lady who took our orders was extremely helpful and her advice on the wine was spot on. All in all we had superb food in friendly relaxing surroundings right down to the expertly crafted espresso martini. Thank you.
Great food. Nice atmosphere. Highly recomnended.
Incredible food and amazing staff. Couldn’t recommend highly enough!
A superb lunch. We will definitely be coming back!
