A traditional British inn with 14 individually designed bedrooms, roaring fires in winter, heavenly gardens in summer and delicious pub food all year round.
Our menus are all about great quality, locally sourced, simple rustic food. Wherever possible we use local producers, supporting rare heritage breeds and farmers that care about what they’re doing.
From 8am every day we serve our guests and locals alike French Press coffees and the finest English breakfast.
We’ve worked side by side with UE Coffee, the only artisan wood-fired coffee roastery in the UK, whose Master Roasters combine their talent and experience to bring out the optimum taste, aroma and colour to create The Lucky Onion’s truly unique and sustainable house blend of beans from Brazil, Costa Rica and India. Cherish each sip at The Wheatsheaf or grab and go with your coffee of choice in one of our biodegradable, takeaways cups.

dee the manager is amazing thank you!
Very comfortable. Very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble!!
Very enjoyable breakfast , good food and very friendly , attentive staff. Thank you
Great offer for breakfast and coach to Cheltenham races. The breakfast was really nice and we also had dinner in the evening on our return when again the food and service was very good.
We came in on Cheltenham race week evening. It was packed but the food was excellent and served in very reasonable time, given the amount of people in the pub, with great and charming service! Great credit to the kitchen!
Menu rather limited for Saturday lunch but service was excellent.
Firstly, the menu needs more variety. My fiancée ordered a sirloin which came with French Fries. I’m sorry but when you order steak you expect proper chips. I ordered the pie of the day, big mistake, I had an upset stomach the day after. Desserts were greatly overpriced, so we didn’t bother. To cap it all the bill came with the gratuity already added, thought it was down to the customer to decide whether the service was worthy of a tip! We didn’t enjoy our evening out, but I just paid and we left...
Loved the place and the experience! Great atmosphere, really relaxed and a great place to have a dinner by yourself
Absolutely delicious meal
Our first visit and we had a delicious meal and great evening all round! We loved the atmosphere and wine too, and the booking system is very easy.
Lovely staff, excellent food
Really enjoyable lunch, service was very friendly and accommodating!
As always, a wonderful night at the Wheatsheaf. Tommy and co were brilliant.
Love this restaurant for our Sunday roasts, third time we’ve been back and we come from Swindon. Definitely will be back again
The quality of food was good. The first night the service was spasmodic. The second night was much better. The overall experience was good but we were overcharged by £15.00 because other diners drinks were added to our bill. Breakfast time was marred by a lack of fruit juice on the second morning and a lack of plates.
A great inn at any time of the year for dinner and bed. We will continue frequent visits.
Lovely as ever. Still a bit too pricey for non tourists. Food is fab but I always question value for money and it is sadly not there
Amazing food and service!
I had a wonderful time the Wheatsheaf. The food was amazing. The attention to detail in the rooms were awesome!
This is my local and it is never anything other than very good. The food is sound and sometimes even exceptional. I am disappointed that I am charged £25 corkage when I bring wines the likes of which you would never find on their own wine list, but aside from this gripe, I can say quite categorically that you can expect a pub restaurant meal as good as anything you are likely to find in Gloucestershire. We have been here numerous time’s and always have a wonderful greeting from Dee ! What a great asset Dee and the new manager Jo are. Felt relaxed and welcomed. Feedback for head office: Don’t need log fires on warm days though.
We love coming here , the food is exceptional and the staff informed and friendly . The dining room is a great space and they are happy to accommodate dogs .
Excellent all round: devilled kidneys as good as ever, cod superb, and better than it’s previous incarnations
Superb rib eye steaks, lovely atmosphere, excellent friendly service. All round 100%
