A traditional British inn with 14 individually designed bedrooms, roaring fires in winter, heavenly gardens in summer and delicious pub food all year round.
Our menus are all about great quality, locally sourced, simple rustic food. Wherever possible we use local producers, supporting rare heritage breeds and farmers that care about what they’re doing.
From 8am every day we serve our guests and locals alike French Press coffees and the finest English breakfast.
We’ve worked side by side with UE Coffee, the only artisan wood-fired coffee roastery in the UK, whose Master Roasters combine their talent and experience to bring out the optimum taste, aroma and colour to create The Lucky Onion’s truly unique and sustainable house blend of beans from Brazil, Costa Rica and India. Cherish each sip at The Wheatsheaf or grab and go with your coffee of choice in one of our biodegradable, takeaways cups.

We had a wonderful lunch here on Saturday - charming staff, delicious food and very cosy.
Our favourite destination for Sunday lunch and rarely disappoints.
The food was really nice, as were the drinks but we were disappointed with the service. When we arrived there was only one other couple in the dining room and instead of placing us on one of the other tables in the room we were sat directly next to the one other couple - a really annoying thing that some restaurants do for some reason! We watched as every other table was provided with a rundown of the specials which we were not and we had drink orders confused which led to a long delay. A shame as the venue and food were lovely.
The meal we had on New Years Eve was truly fantastic (The tasting menu); in the restaurant! (although we were excepting Scallops, as an intermediate; we had previously enquired as we knew there was a problem with delivery the day before ; better to inform rather than not )! Note we were residents too! Having said that the Beef Wellington was the best we’ll ever taste ...just perfect ! You had taken note of my communication to having the beef cooked med/well 😊 The whole meal for £65 was truly excellent ; sincere thanks to the Chef and his team..!ll If critical ; would be nice for restaurant manager to recommend us a wine ; rather than us ask ...we did ask to sample a wine ...but when the lovely bar man brought us the bottle , (no sample was offered )?we were concerned that maybe we didn’t like ? He immediately said “no please do taste ; I’ll sort it “ ...we did like , so no issues there . Felt not really his job ; as he was doing a Stirling job on the bar on his own and with a smile 😊 well done you ! Restaurant manager liaise with your dinning guests ... Overall a deserving 5 ⭐️ acknowledging the hard word of people behind the scenes and those with a smile 😊 and “hello” Thank you
Hi , you will see from my record that I have been coming to the pub for over a year , it really feels like it is going down hill . The tables were sticky , not clean and had candle wax all over them . The pictures on the walls we not straight , when I came in Dec I had to ask for another chair as the spring was sticking up the chairs are worn and shabby . The food is also not presented as well as it was previously . I’ve have been in 3 times in Dec hoping that it was just an off day but it wasn’t . I really love this place please don’t let it go down hill
I appreciate it was Christmas Day so a set menu, however quite pricey so a level of expectation is expected. The canapes and starters were delicious. The vegetables for the main were over cooked and dried up and disappointing. The pudding choice was limited as well. However the meal overall was nice, slightly pricey but would recommend the pub again to others as was a nice location and atmosphere.
We had a fantastic meal at the Wheatsheaf. The food was excellent! The service was a little slow but didn’t diminish the evening at all.
Lovely place, delicious food. Hard to find a place to park and was very busy, but staff very friendly and helpful.
Service was awful! We had to go to bar to even get a drinks menu. Canapés came out before we even ordered a drink. Over an hour until main meal. Over 20 mins waiting for the bill. Then to be charged £80 gratuity. Awful.
Nice place. Definitely coming back
Celebrating my husbands birthday - superb all round, thank you
The food was fantastic ....
Loved your place which we stayed at for two nights in room 11. The treats and special treatment offered to our Border Collie Indie were both unexpected and fabulous. We will be back again in the future!
It was a brilliant meal, very good portions and very tasty!
Enjoyable and well presented food. However, we came last year at Christmas and enjoyed a fabulous Boef Bourguignon which was rich and very flavoursome. I had the steak and ale pie this time and it wasn’t a patch on the Bourguignon. It was too salty and had very little flavour even though there were leeks therein.
Fantastic stay at the Wheatsheaf Inn. The room, staff, food and service was all exceptional. I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a relaxing retreat in the Cotswolds. A special thank you to Max Allen who arranged our stay and dinner reservation. He truly went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect!
If you accept a complaint and offer a dessert, don’t then put the cost of the dessert on the bill! And when I query it I’m told that they need a manager’s approval to take something off the bill - like that’s a reasonable excuse! Shame because orltherwise a really great experience..
A fabulous pre Christmas weekend spent in Northleach and 8 of us spent a very lovely evening at the Wheatsheaf looked after us very well and the staff all very attentive and the food was excellent - definitely coming back !!
Absolutely fabulous as always.
Nice treat for my wife's birthday
Lovely lunch with friends. Very pleasant, friendly & efficient service. Slightly on the pricey side, so can’t do it very often unfortunately. But excellent food and wine. And wonderful to find somewhere so dog friendly.
Everything great but surprised with automatic gratuity charge and it really is not acceptable to ameliorate that by offering the customer the option to remove it after the fact.
an excellent lunch , every course lived up to expectation. It is a pleasure if a restaurant achieves consistency of quality - you are delighted to come back.
we went with friends for Sunday lunch in December and we were all very impressed by the quality of our meals (all different) and the service, especially given how busy the restaurant was. We will definitely be back again - thank you
