The T bone steak smelled and tasted of fish! Was very disappointing - weird taste!
Very friendly and attentive service including hospitality aspects regarding our pet pug
Once again another fantastic meal at The Wheatsheaf. Excellent service and hospitality from Dee and her staff. Thanks Richard
Food was exceptional as ever, lovely place for a cosy winter evening meal, and all the staff were friendly and attentive. Keep it up!
We dined on a Monday lunch time so the restaurant was pretty quiet, but still very pleasant with the fire on. Service was friendly and attentive. Food was very nice, but quite pricey so we would probably only visit on special occasions (i.e. birthday). There was a mix up with our order, but the management dealt with this very quickly and made a gesture on our bill which was very much appreciated. We will return!
Great atmosphere here- so cosy and the food was incredible. Everyone on our table ordered something different which shows how much great choice is on the menu! We will definitely be back again
After making a reservation at 14:30 on a Sunday, we were disappointed to have to ask about our main courses at 16:00. Sunday’s may be busy but a little acknowledgement of a potential delay is all that is required. Will think twice before returning.
Lovely pub lunch on a cold autumnal November day. I wish it was my local!
A fantastic meal yet again! And wonderful service, especially as half the party were delayed on the M5 & ended up being an hour late! Staff couldn’t do enough to help & the lateness was not a problem as our table was held for us. All menu choices were excellent & thoroughly enjoyed by us all. Thank you so much!
Beautifully fresh produce. Lightly dressed crunchy tomato and gem salad. And outstanding hake and chorizo bean dish. Congratulations on quality standard and taste
Nice location, relatively limited parking when busy, great food
All good, thank you....
Superb meal, keep up the good work!
We had the most wonderful stay here with our 1 year old. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone really went out of their way to make us as comfortable as possible. They were also very baby friendly without it being over child focused, so we really felt like we were having a luxury night away. The vegan options were also really great for dinner and breakfast. The room was really comfortable, with great bedding and they even provided us with a travel cot, which fitted in to the room nicely. I am already planning on when we can come back!
The Wheatsheaf Northleach November 10th We arrived at the Wheatsheaf in Northleach around 1:15 pm in the middle of a very busy Sunday lunch service just after the Remembrance Day Sunday services. We were served very promptly by the single bar person who was doing a sterling job handling all of the orders from the packed bar, the restaurant and the seated bar area. We joined up with two others of our party as the remaining four were stuck in traffic and had a very good tasty lunch, with an excellent sea bream, salt & pepper squid, calves liver and various side dishes. We checked into our rooms at 3:30 pm after lunch and we very impressed with the room standards; we were in room 11 on the ground floor which has an enormous comfortable bed, some quirky side tables made from packing crates and labelled “Harrod’s”, a very large separate bath room with monsoon shower, huge roll top free standing bath, loo and two individual sinks. The rest of our party arrived later on that afternoon and we sat down for an 8 person family reunion and birthday celebration commencing at 7:30pm, the dinner was a great experience with excellent tasty food, great wine and virtually everyone had three courses. One of the highlights was the daily cut rib steak which was shared between two of the diners who enjoyed it immensely; the sea food was superb, perfectly cooked and our sole vegetarian also had a great meal. We had the inclusive breakfast of Scottish kippers which were fantastic, the eggs benedict and the pancakes with crispy bacon and maple syrup – a great start to the day. The staff at the Wheatsheaf are very welcoming, efficient and knowledgeable, our party of eight were served food all at the same time so no one was waiting for a plate. I must commend the entire front of house staff for a fantastic lunch and evening meal and extend a big thank you to the kitchen staff who served very tasty and well-presented food.
Excellent, best Sunday roast brought out for a very long time. Great ale's and fine wines too. Well done
I only give one star for the probability of referring another because I live abroad...
Really enjoyed our Sunday lunch and the food and service were top notch. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Food and drink was excellent apart from slightly soggy calamari that also featured a stray chip and the Bakewell tart lacked flavour - the rest was great. As a party of 8 we were put into a room at the rear of the restaurant - it wasn't a problem being night time but the room is very heavily Gothic and must be very gloomy during the day. Think it needs updating to bring it up the standard of the rest of the place. Don't let this put you off however as we all enjoyed our evening very much.
We have recently moved into the area and this was our second visit to The Wheatsheaf Inn. Dee and her team are so welcoming and add so much to a great atmosphere. We will be popping in later to book our next meal! Many thanks Richard & Maureen x
The whole evening was delightful. The only negative was that the waiting staff were under pressure and service was a little slow . However we will definitely visit again
Absolutely delicious food, impeccable service, lovely relaxed atmosphere. Can't wait for my next visit!!
Excellent food service as always.
Upon arrival we were shown to our table. We were not provided with menus and not informed of the specials. After waiting for 25 minutes I had to go to the bar to ask for menus as nobody came to check on us - it was clear that there was a member of the team doing this to other tables, yet we were ignored. I had to go to the bar a second time to ask again for some hot water so we could heat our daughters bottle of milk up - I had previously asked for this when we ordered drinks. When our food arrived, it was brought over without a word being spoken and placed in front of us. The gentlemen that served us our food came over after we had complained about the lack of service. His response when informed that we had observed him chatting to other tables was 'I am here now talking to you' - this after sitting at the table for 1 hour. He never came back to the table after this point despite being aware of how unhappy we were with the 'service'. The food however was excellent and the only highlight to a miserable evening. We were meant to be celebrating our wedding anniversary as we stayed here 3 years ago on our wedding night. Unfortunately, due to the appalling service, the night and memories we had of this establishment are now tarnished. We felt as if we were unwelcome - whether this is because we had a 1 year old, we are not sure. I would love to recommend this place to friends and family as the food was excellent - however, I could not do this knowing how poorly we were treated. I would rate the service as no stars but I am required to put one to register my feedback.
