About The Wheatsheaf Inn
You can expect a warm welcome whether you are popping in for a drink or joining us for a relaxing meal in the restaurant. Our bar is bursting with fantastic beers, lagers and cask ales whilst the wine list offers a cheeky bottle to match all tastes and complement our dishes.
The menu is constantly updated with dishes to tempt your taste buds and combine many talents of local suppliers to ensure we use the freshest and tastiest ingredients.
We had a lovely meal thank you and the service was excellent. Will be back.
Lovely staff and lovely environment, the rooms are absolutely lovely too, we stayed in The Paddock and couldn’t fault it!
Fantastic food n drink Will be back
Very impressed with both food and service. Highly recommended.
Firstly we sat on a table that wasn’t set and in an alcove tucked away from the rest of the pub - and away from the tables that were set! We asked to move after ordering drinks and food, which we were able to do (I don’t know why we weren’t just sat on a nicely set table in the first place). Our drinks didn’t arrive before the food, which meant we had two meals come out, followed by a pause, then drinks came and the waitress didn’t allow us to taste the wine before pouring (quite a lot) in to one glass and no others. Then after another few moments, the other two meals came out and I have to say, as nice as the food was, it wasn’t entirely hot. We chose not to mention it as we’d already had quite an ordeal just to get to this point! We had about 5 or 6 different waiters and waitresses, non of which seemed to have much idea about etiquette - one started scrapping plates in front of one of our party before she piled the plates and took them away. Someone else leaned over another person in our party to snatch away the salt and pepper from our table, and someone else eventually came over and dumped the bill on our table. I was extremely disappointed in the level of service and attentiveness of the staff during our visit. I had hoped to bring visiting parents (from Yorkshire) for a delicious meal in what i thought was a really nice upmarket establishment, sadly it was a total disaster and we shall not be returning to this pub ever again.
I hadn't realised that you only serve from the Sunday lunch menu and not the full menu as well on a Sunday. I'm not particularly fond of a roast dinner so didn't enjoy it. The decor is fab and we will probably come again in an evening to sample from the more suitable menu. Service was very good.
Great food and lovely surroundings
Lovely family Sunday lunch. My 2 yr olds only criticism was he didn’t get any carrots! :)
great place and friendly staff. good price
The quality of food was average the staff were superb.
As always at this establishment, we were greeted with a helpful & friendly smile from all the staff, the food & beverage was excellent.
helpfull and friendly staff, a Wellcome smile, fast service and good food, what's not to like?
Lovely meal great atmosphere
We where staying for two nights and ended up eating at the Wheatsheaf both nights and had excellent meals both nights
We booked dinner on the Friday night of Bank Holiday weekend. We had asked for a quiet table and the table we had was just perfect. The staff were very polite and friendly and the food was delicious. It is a lovely place to go for food or even just for a drink and is much under rated locally.
Lovely, relaxed family meal; staff were very accommodating - particularly the housekeeping ladies who let our 2yr old have tour of where Hetty Hoover had just been! Food was lovely, kids meals served early at our request - nothing was too much trouble
We visited on a Sunday fantastic offer where a child it's free with a paying adult. The food was outstanding especially the desserts. Service was excellent. We will most certainly be coming again very soon. Well done to all staff. Xx
Food was cooked to perfection, served at a perfect temperature, extremely well presented, the price was very well suited to the dining experience and we will definitely be returning very soon. We had the chicken supreme, the minted pressed lamb and fish n chips off the kids menu.
Will definitely visit again. Fab wallpaper in the ladies loos!!
This was our second visit to The Wheatsheaf Inn, and our second occasion was for my Mother In-Law's Birthday and had some trepidation our second visit would live up to our excellent first. I was not disappointed. We went on a Sunday this time and there was something for everyone, including a vegetarian. Starters were very good, however we were waiting on two the we had to chase, and arrived as the rest of us were finishing. Main meals, I had food envy about everyone's as everything looking amazing! I had a roast dinner and it was lovely again. Very accommodating, as we brought a home made cake and asked for them to bring a knife to cut the cake, but quietly mentioned we didn't want any Happy Birthday sing song. They brought the cake discreetly and returned the box we arrived with it in. Overall, a lovely evening for food and drink. Atmosphere has been good twice. Decor is lovely. Toilets clean and tidy. Food is excellent. Will return again and again!
Very friendly and welcoming staff. Cosy and comfortable atmosphere. Great facilities. Excellent menus for evening meal and breakfast.
Excellent service and food to die for. Room we stayed in was beautiful and good value for money. All staff extremely helpful. Only let down was noise from a party whilst trying to sleep.
Food was really tasty and the service was brilliant. I love the play area for the children too this was great.
Really enjoyable experience - from the ease of booking online to the lovely food & drinks - we WILL keep revisiting.
Exceptional service from all members of staff, especially the gentleman on Saturday 28th night and Sunday 29th breakfast. Amazing food served at both dinner and breakfast. Would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in a lovely countryside pub with brilliant food and service rarely found anywhere else
