About The Waterside
Overlooking South lake in Woodley, Berkshire, the newest addition to the F&B Horizon family delivers style and flavour in its dishes and surrounds, with its gastropub-style restaurant, comfy bar area and extensive gardens, The Waterside is the ideal place for family, friends and Business people to meet.
When asking about gluten free meals the staff had no idea which could be fatal and they weren’t prepared to even find out. I chose a safe ish option of risotto which was bland, rice with a few peas and asparagus no flavouring. Luckily I’m gluten intolerant, if I were Coeliac it would have been fatal, staff need training on this 😡
The food is great. The setting is lovely. Some of the dishes i judge are a little expensive when compared to other restaurants in the local area. The service from the lady who served me was great. Very personable and efficient. Myself and my sons will definitely be coming back again
Had a lovely carvery with family and friends
We had a lovely evening for my Dad’s birthday. There were 14 of us and the service was wonderful however we thought the prices were high for overall quality of food. Although no real complaints about the food it was just ok. Also, quite annoyingly, there was approx £50-60 worth of extra food on the bill which I am sure you will appreciate with 14 people trying to sort the bill out was a bit annoying.
Great lunch. Family event celebrating my Birthday. 12 people. Staff were very accommodating and attentive. We spent the rest of afternoon and eve there as we carried on celebrating in the lovely garden which had childrens play area. Many thanks to the staff
Very slow service and the food was not great at all and took 45 minutes to get soup for a starter and then had to wait another 55 minutes for the mains and they where not even busy in the restaurant and even one if the people serving us said the service was slow
Very good Sunday roast.
Very slow bar service
the service charge being added without any input was a bit galling - we all had carvery so we got our own food, so essentially we were forced to pay the best part of £10 for someone to deliver a single round of drinks. Having said that, the quality of the food was very good and we enjoyed our meal immensely. I would prefer it if a mandatory service charge was reserved for either a) a larger sized party or b) people that were actually 'waited on'
Great food and service, the burger was one of the best I have had, my companions had fish and chips and really enjoyed then. Food was good and hot and service friendly and caring without being overbearing. Looking forward to going again.
Eaten here twice recently. On both occasions, the food and service have been excellent, but waiting in the bar for the restaurant to open at 6pm is too noisy! Some sort of noise reduction measures are required! Also, off duty staff need to remember to act professionally in the bar area!
Dad said it was the best food he has tasted in all the places he has visited
Lovely pub, lovely food. Really don't think they should be charging 12% service charge. We didn't leave a tip for the waitress because of this and I'm sure she needed the 12% more than the Company. There were 7 of us in this party.
Didn't eat the mains. Had then refunded. Staff on headsets leaves them distracted and rude. This was such a nice place before the change in management.
Service was a bit slow which was disappointing as it wasn’t particularly busy. Food was good overall, we had the carvery, the meat was great but potatoes and veg were average. I was a bit disappointed that the carvery was done as a buffet, this is easier for the kitchen but does compromise on quality. Personally I would always rate quality over quantity but it depends what you want!
Our first visit to The Waterside. We wanted somewhere local to Reading university as my son had graduated and we wanted to eat before our journey home. Couldn't be more impressed. The Waterside is a beautiful building and inside was just as impressive. The food and service was great. The only thing that confused me was the name as I assumed it was beside some water 😁
The food was delicious and the service impeccable
We had a great day for my daugter's holy communion. The food & service was excellant. My only critism is that drink prices are too expensive, more expenisve that London prices. Please review this!
We were really looking forward to an eve of great food and atmosphere but we were extremely disappointed..we felt the food was expensive for what we had and very avarage...and very few diners for a saturday eve, so no atmosphere...the kitchen was closing at 10 ish so we were advised that if we wanted a dessert we would have to make our minds up as chef going home.. wouldn't go again anytime soon.
Spent a lovely evening with friends. Service and food both very good.
Excellent service by attentive staff, nothing too much trouble. No waiting at the bar either. Delicious food.
Nice meal out for Fathers day with enjoyable atmosphere.
It was a lovely meal for Father’s Day and the free pint of Heineken was a nice touch!
Perfectly cooked food and service is always fantastic. Can be a bit pricey.
Soup could have been hotter. Restuarant was cold.
