So impressed with the cheeriness of the staff
Excellent food, and excellent service great value love the atmosphere that's why I keep coming back.
The soft drinks we received came in a bottle, however one of the party noticed that they had recieved a non-diet bottle, which had a diet bottle top. We raised this with our server and the drink was replaced. On exiting the restaurant we noticed that glass bottles of soft drinks were being filled up with draft at the bar, which we felt was a little unscrupulous. The starters and main meals were lovely. However, the sticky toffee pudding was dry and hard, and I couldn’t get my fork through it. We had booked a table online and received confirmation of this via email. However, when we arrived we were told there was no reservation. Having visited the restaurant previously on many occasions, I will be extremely reluctant to return.
Glass dirty had to ask for clean one Sent main course back asking chef to check the menu as what was served had items missing Had to request ketchup twice before it arrived at table Very poor standard of food , very disappointed as I had been before and ordered same main course but what was served this time was awful - will not be recommending this establishment to anyone - poor poor standard of food
Service could not have been any better, but I thought it was a bit expensive
We have all visited on a number of occasions and never been disappointed. Will definitely return - apart from good food and service Waterside has a fabulous location.
Beautiful location, love the beach vibe decor! Decent value for money, good menu.
Excellent as always
Ordered fillet steak at £27 very disappointing...steak was grey in colour and overcooked it was not seared tasted boiled...charging top restaurant prices but not delivering in quality..should have complained at time but sometimes you dont want to cause a scene Other dish was the fish kebabs... only one skewer and no sauce .Taking advantage of captive audience
Crispy chicken was ok but a bit too much batter which made it overdone. Banana crepes I thought was going to be freshly cooked with fresh bananas and I was disappointed when I tasted them. They looked like they were frozen and put in the microwave. I had to send them back. The shortbread I had with my latte tasted stale. I have had better food on my previous visit so I was not pleased at all. I thought the quality of the food was not up to par especially with the price of each course.
Really enjoyed our night. The staff and food were excellent. Thank you. Stuart
was refused draught drinks and given bottles coke had side order of fries which were very salty sent them back and had to ask twice for it to be taken off my bill was very disappointed as had been to old loans the week before and it was 1st class
Hotel was recommended to us by a friend who eats there regularly. Visited for the first time 07.07.18 and we will certainly return. Loved the Al Fresco dining ...makes a change eating outdoors in glorious weather.. Staff were nice and cannot fault anything...
Drink far too expensive and food average. Chowder was lovely however the chorizo spoiled the taste in our opinion. The burger was not good value for the price neither was the stuffed peppers which was actually only one pepper cut in two filled with cous cous. With additional vegetables and sauce. Overall not good value for money. Lovely setting which is obviously what you are paying the extra for.
First time visiting the waterside, would definetly go back and recommend, the staff were all very welcoming and friendly, the food was lovely, and it's really nice to eat so fresco in the weather we are getting again. 10/10 well done! :)
Our visit to The Waterside unfortunately proved extremely disappointing. On arrival it was immediately evident the staff were under pressure despite the restaurant appearing to be around only half capacity. The atmosphere was chaotic and smacked of disorganisation. The table we were seated at was sticky and we had to ask for it to be wiped down. Our starters were slow to appear however we were hungry so just glad to get them. The tempura I ordered had a strong taste of old and over used cooking oil. We then waited over 45 minutes for our main courses to arrive. At this point we spoke to a waitress who did apologise and explained there had been a mix up with the kitchen. When the main courses did eventually arrive we had no cutlery and had to track down a waiter to obtain some. The kids mains were fine however my partner's risotto tasted like it had been made with boiled water as opposed to stock. It was flavourless and the rice was soggy and overcooked. My salmon and prawn salad with mustard mayonnaise had the tiniest drizzle of dressing therefore I asked if it would be possible to have a little more in a ramekin. The waitress I asked said that wouldn't be a problem, however 15 minutes later she hadn't reappeared and had clearly forgotten. At this point, having not touched my main and my partner having only tasted his, we decided we'd had quite enough of The Waterside's dining experience. We asked for a manager who we explained the catalogue of disasters to. The lady in question after taking my partner's risotto to the kitchen advised us we were wrong and that the dish was actually very tasty! She did however remove the dish from our bill. The uneaten and undressed salad was not removed from the bill. More worryingly there was no apology made by the senior member of staff. The evening we had looked forward to was spoiled by this whole experience. Having dined in The Waterside once before and in The Gailes on many occasions we had always experienced good food and service until now. Very disappointing.
We have visited on many occasions and even had Christmas dinner here but this time it was very let down by the service. We arrived at 12:25 and agreed to sit outside went inside and ordered mains and deserts each from the 2 courses for £15 menu. Our mains arrived within about 20 minutes and we finished at 1:10. We waited for our plates to be cleared and eventually at 1:30 had to go into the restaurant to ask. Plates were quickly cleared and we advised the server that we had ordered deserts. After a further 20 minutes we had to ask again for our deserts. They arrived 5 minutes later. At no time were we approached and asked if the food was ok. There seemed to be no staff presiding over the outside area. While we were sitting we noticed many people had a lunch menu which we were not offered. We had planned to voice our concerns when leaving but the desk was unmanned. We do not feel that the service lived up to your usual high standards. The restaurant did not seem overly busy and there seemed to be staff inside just not outside. Also I visited the toilets twice and both times there was debris on the floor and a balled up paper in the end sink. We travelled a two hour round trip for lunch and the setting and food were great but the service not so much.
nice welcome , excellent meal, great service will certainly be back for more !
Speed of bar service and food service very slow. Had to prompt staff for delivery of food. Outdoor tebles could be cleaned better. Portion size very disappointing - especially sticky toffee pudding, very small piece of sponge, blob of cream and half a strawberry.
Have ate in this restaurant a few times recently and normally I complete this review very positively, however we left very disappointed on Saturday night. After taking our order the waitress then returned to tell me there was no Lasagne left? Never known a restaurant to run out of lasagne! We were served our main meal relatively quickly, however not once asked if our food was ok or if we needed another drink. We then sat for over half an hour without being offered the dessert menu and had to actually go up to the counter and ask for the menu !we then had to go back up to the counter to pay the bill & were actually given another tables bill! Which we had to point out to the waitress! Food was good once we were served however very disappointed with the service we received. Lovely restaurant with beautiful surroundings, however need to improve on kitchen service and staff .
Reliably pleasant place with good food and very pleasant attentive young staff. Well done!
Service was slow and terrible, asked for a bottle of wine twice, it never arrived, dirty plate, a cracked glass and average food, not impressed with the manager, was like doing us a favour when she said she would take the bottle of wine off the bill and we could have a free pudding, the bottle we never got 2nd time of visiting, the time before was 2 years ago where it was also very average, we thought maybe after 2 years things would of improved
The Waterside Hotel has a lovely setting right beside the sea with lovely gardens and plenty of outside seating areas. Staff were all pleasant, helpful and professional. Food was a bit slow to be served but server did apologise for this. Food was very nice.
Food was amazing and the service was excellent.
