About The Walter Arms
An unforgettable experience.
We Believe in providing an experience you won't forget.
From the gorgeous interior and great location of our restaurant to the exquisite taste of our dishes, we know you won't forget a visit to The Walter Arms
I made a booking for my friend’s baby shower back in March and the booking was confirmed online. We had a table booked for Sunday 12th May and on the Friday before I thought I’d call the Walter Arms to check all was ok with the booking. When I called I was told that they were closed for refurbishment, the chap on the phone was polite and apologetic but that doesn’t detract from the fact that I had to organise an alternative venue with two days notice. If I hadn’t of called we would have had 8 hungry pregnant ladies with nowhere to go for lunch :(
My visit but I will certainly return after your refurbishment. Hopefully this will also include the exterior areas as well as the interior.
Enjoyed our meal and will return. There was a large and very noisy party near to us which meant we couldn't have a conversation. Also we believe that the calves liver was in fact lambs liver. Didn't comment at the time because the lady did not want to take a fuss and the meal tasted very good anyway.
Very much enjoyed our lunch. Service good and friendly. You heeded the request for a quiet table and you gave us the one we have favoured in the past Will be visiting you again
Disappointed with the Garlic Prawns and crusty bread it was well done sliced bread when we requested crusty bread as was on menu we were given slightly toasted sliced bread if you don’t have whats on the menu I suggest you don’t advertise it
The food was ok but expensive for what is was. The seats were a bit grubby and it seemed like it needed a good clean.
Need a much better system for tabs. Table numbers apparently wrong. I was asked what I’d had during the afternoon and given 2 different bills to choose from! Also no way of knowing whose cards were in the folder. Feel like I could have paid for a lot less, and taken someone else’s card had I been dishonest!!. Could have done with some more staff on as busy and only 3 people working. Otherwise a great place.
The Walter Arms continues to be a great place to meet friends. Service was excellent and food to a good standard. We felt the puddings were way overpriced for the quality offered which affected our rating for food. However, main courses are well presented and tasty. We look forward to the re-furbishment with anticipation.
Having been to the Walter Arms regularly several years ago we expected a really nice meal.We ordered Roast chicken .What we go was a chicken breast overcooked with cabbage and roast potatoes .I like apple sauce with chicken.I was given something which tasted and looked revolting I glanced at a plate of roast beef and it looked like it was microwaved and out of a packet not carved from a joint..So not again. The staff were very pleasant
Excellent friendly waitress, very efficient and excellent food
Beautiful building, friendly staff and good food.
I’ve sent an email to the manager earlier today with my reasons for a low score feedback.
Fabulous Mother’s Day lunch.Waitress absolutely lovely as were all the other staff. The roast was delicious and the puddings also...would recommend to friends and family.
Great pub, great atmosphere, great food, great service. Friendly and welcoming!
Very pleasant evening
Worked down the road for years and the place seems to have changed hands a bit. Great to see pizzas back on the menu. A lot of people gave up on the place when they just wanted to push bland pasta and posh salads. Unfortunately these are not the pizzas they once served! The base is absolutely awful. Far too thick and bready. Just like the a Napolina base you can buy in Sainsbury’s. The best asset this place had is still missing 😕
Lovely little pub. Lovely Sunday roast!!
Choice seemed more restricted than before particularly if you wanted meat dishes. Good selection of fish though
Lovely food and friendly staff
Terrible service although the guy you have working there is very pleasant but obviously rushed off his feet. At first we were put in a corner next to a large table of people. We had come in for a lovely romantic evening, so we asked to be moved. We found your choice of food very limited. And the menus being on A4 white paper very unprofessional. Was disappointed with the main course It tasted good but I could count the amount of tiny potatoes on 1 hand. The fudge brownie though I have to say was one of the best I have ever tasted.
Despite booking on line there was no record of my booking when we arrived, the waitress had to put 2 tables together in front of the fireplace which led to very cramped seating , the waitress then bought the drinks over, tripped over the fireplace and spilt coke all down my mothers jumper and chair, she did not bother to get a cloth and left us to clear up the mess with serviettes, not a good experience at all
We hired the Barn area for a party with buffet. Food was lovely and catered for vegan and GF. The staff were very accommodating and friendly and made the evening go very smoothly so thank you very much. Special thanks to our fabulous bar staff John and Joanna too.
We had a lovely meal and would recommend it to others.
The pizzas are superb... highly recommended.
