About The Walnut Tree Inn Blisworth
Succulent beef from the Newbottle estate near Brackley, tasty free-range poultry from Yardley Hastings and deeply delicious free range eggs from Milton Malsor, just a few of the locally sourced foods we offer in the dining room and bar at the Walnut Tree Inn. We’re committed to providing you with the very best ingredients, whilst supporting local farmers and suppliers – you’ll enjoy a true taste of the county.
We used your lovely restaurant at the Walnut Inn as a 3 way meeting place for 7 members of our family travelling from... London, Birmingham and Nottingham... we really enjoyed our Sunday roasts and received excellent service... It was a great place to meet and share quality time together... we’ll be back soon! Kind regards Hilary and all the Gaw family 😘
Fantastic as usual.
Very lovely evening. The gentleman that waited on us was very lovely and very patient with our friend. The restaurant lights were a little too bright. We felt you had some nice dishes on the menu but it is very limited. I’m not sure Pizza and burgers are the way forward for you. More selection of steaks would have been nice and possibly some traditional English dishes with a twist. I think your menu could be so much more. We did have a very pleasant evening and we will return. The gentleman said your menu does change so we will await for those changes and try again but overall very nice.
FAB FOOD AND EXCELLENT SERVICE - WHO COULD ASK FOR MORE. JUST WONDERFUL.
This was a gift from our son. We really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Would return again.
I had the poached pheasant which was cooked to perfection. My husband had the pulled pork pizza which he thoroughly enjoyed. We had the white chocolate panna cotta. My only critique would be that the chocolate marquise they served previously was too delicious to be taken off the menu. I am devastated I cannot have it anymore. Also the burnt chocolate ice cream did not go with the panna cotta it would be much nicer to have plain vanilla.
The food here was exceptional and our whole stay was most enjoyable even down to the evening entertainment, we had a fab time, I wish this pub was on my doorstep.
Love the walnut tree, always consistent and fantastic service every time.
Very friendly efficient staff - attentive without hovering. Excellent pizzas - even kids enjoyed.
The food was fantastic. However, a couple of instances with the waiter gave us cause not to leave a tip.Having asked if the pork belly came with a good amount of crackling, we were told 'it came as it was'. When it arrived with just a thin strip, we where disappointed and at the end of the meal suggested there could have been more, simply to be told if we wanted more we should have asked. We thought we had? Secondly we ordered three different ports, one of which had a lot of sediment in it. When we mentioned this, we were told this is how it comes. It was changed when we argued further and not with a smile, he just confirmed we did not know what we were talking about. We have given the tip to the Canal and River trust.
My starter was really nice (halloumi) however the pizza I had for the main wasn’t great. The base was very tough. I couldn’t cut it with a knife and fork. It is a lovely pub though so I will return and try another dish.
Whilst our party understood it was a busy day (over 240 covers) we were disappointed a number of times when trying to order food and then having to choose alternatives, one of us had to change option 3 times!! The dessert menu left us disappointed too, again limited on choice and nothing any of us felt tempted by (we had been looking forward to treating ourselves). We opted for coffees which were small and ok but nothing to shout about. A biscuit/chocolate or sweet treat with these would have been a nice touch considering the price! We also waiting 1 hour 20 minutes for food! It was delicious which is the saving grace really. Plus we cannot fault the professionalism of waiting staff.
Lovely food and attentive and professional staff. Highly recommended
Lovely fresh food, a delicious steak cooked to perfection for both myself and my friend. Relaxed environment and worth every penny.
Selection of food limited, mediocre and expensive. Service poor need more staff on nights of acts
We had a surprise Sunday lunch for 14 for my husband’s 40th. The staff were incredibly helpful and nothing too much trouble. The food was beautifully presented, and tasty and all of us had a lovely experience. My only comment for improvement was that perhaps the interiors might appreciate a little updating but a minor point. Many thanks
Fantastic meal served early on a Sunday evening.
The food was excellent and the service was spot on 👍
Lovely Sunday dinner. Definitely be returning 😀
Good food . Cheese board said caramelised onions and cake with apricots instead other than that all was very good . Thank you
Efficient and courteous staff. Well cooked food. Lovely dining area.
The Sunday roast was very tasty with the exception of the beef, unable to cut with the knife and too chewy so after a couple of bites I left the meat. Dessert was delicious.
Average meals menu quite limited no specials board. Only one choice of overpriced steak. We asked what the seasonal vegetables were to be told “roasted root vegetables” I don’t really think root vegetables are what I would call seasonal I was expecting tender stem broccoli fine green beans mangetout sugar snap peas maybe even asparagus!! Won’t be returning in a hurry I fear.
The food was lovely but a little pricey for Sunday lunch, I appreciate we were eating outside because it was a lovely day, but with those prices and that you weren’t overly busy table service would have been a nice added touch. All staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Excellent food, lovely presentation, very pleasant staff. The small menu isn’t an issue when every dish is so spot on.
