Food Service Times:
We please request that you arrive in good time for your booking so that your food can reach you in a timely manner and you have a relaxed, enjoyable experience at Hencote.

A welcome return to our favourite fine food restaurant set in such lovely surroundings. All well up to expectations!
As always we were looked after very well by the team at Hencote. Accommodating social distancing measures, there was no reduction in the level of service. The menu whilst basic offers a good range for all tastes, and the attention to dietary needs was excellent. Thank you all.
We were very happy to be able to enjoy the lovely views of this amazing setting.
An excellent evening
Fab services from you guys. Highly recommend x
You have a truly exceptional venue, staff and food. I am looking forward to the Summer to see the beautiful Vineyards Thank you for a wonderful evening
This is the 5th or 6th time I’ve eaten at Hencote and I’ve never been disappointed until this visit. The food service was slow, chicken dry and steak tough and overcooked. Everything was bland and under seasoned. The service was terrible also, we had to ask twice for food menus, three times for a glass for water, nobody poured our wine after it was opened and nobody asked how our food was. The glasses from the cocktails we started out with in the lounge and finished as we sat at our table were still on the table as we payed the bill. We again had to ask for dessert menus and after waiting and waiting nobody took our order so we asked for the bill instead. We came for a special occasion (my Mother’s Birthday, she’d never been before) and she was shocked at how poor the experience at The View was. For the premium prices charged we would expect service and food to live up to a certain standard, which unfortunately they did not. Disappointing all round.
Loved it..definitely go for lunch again. Fab food, service and setting second to none.
Really delightful Sunday lunch - food and wine were delicious
Food was very tasty but not value for money.staff need training in hospitality
Fabulous experience but staff could have been a little more attentive.
Unfortunately our experience was disappointing..whilst the food was generally good the service and lack of atmosphere were very apparent and given you are charging at the high end I didn't think was overall value for money..there was no service or personality of the host or staff.. i had to get up on two occasions to try and find someone to take an order.(it was not busy only about 40% full on saturday evening) nobody took our coats or recommended any wines or food... just no warmth of service It's a amazing venue and setting..everyone of the people i know who have been have said the same thing about the service and atmosphere and they wouldn't return which is a shame..
We were left for quite a while before our drinks order was taken. Then throughout the evening no one came to ask if we required anymore drinks. Food was not what we had hoped for from the price we paid. Venue is stunning though.
Another lovely lunch. Thank you.
Terrific food, lovely ambience and great service. Will definitely be back.
Unfortunately we didn't have the best experience and felt it wasn't good value for money. There were some positives, we did have a nice time, but there were a few things that let down our experience and I felt I should raise them. I had booked afternoon tea for a group on a saturday afternoon. I called a few days before to make our booking half an hour later. This was no problem and I received an email confirmation which was great. We arrived and were shown to our table which was lovely and had a fantastic view. A short while later our afternoon tea stands arrived and the chef explained what everything was, which was really detailed, and there was plenty of food. I enjoyed the food but it wasnt to everyone's taste (you can't please everyone). They also catered well for 1 veggie member. However we hadn't been offered any tea or coffee! A bit bizarre given we had booked afternoon tea (we had cups set out on the table). We had to go and find a waiter to ask. We also weren't offered any refills. The sun was in our eyes and we had to ask staff twice for the blind to be lowered, but then only one was lowered so some guests still had sun in their eyes. We didn't want to be a pain continually asking. Perhaps staff were trying not to be too overbearing, but they were based the opposite site of the restaurant, so we couldn't easily catch anyone in passing and had to go over to ask. Around half an hour in, most of the restaurant had emptied, and staff were clearing away tables and setting up a dance floor. This continued with staff decorating and setting up a DJ booth for the evening, including playing music and testing sound. They were polite but generally we were disappointed to not have been informed of this before, as it really dimmed the atmosphere and we felt we were in the way. We perhaps would have changed our booking or gone elsewhere had we known this in advance. This was our first experience of Hencote and after looking forward to our visit for a while (and being keen wine drinkers), we were just left feeling disappointed. We wouldn't rush back, which is a shame after feeling it would be someone right up our street.
What a lovely Sunday lunch in a fabulous setting we couldn’t fault a thing. Excellent food, very relaxed with lovely staff we would highly recommend.
Lovely Sunday lunch, we wanted the steaks which aren’t available on a Sunday, so we’ll just have to go back.
We had a great nights stay with you. We attended the wine tour which was great and the word of mouth function in the evening. Your staff went above and beyond the call of duty that evening. Service was outstanding!
Beautiful views dispite the weather, food was exceptional and service was excellent. Thank you will definitely be visiting again.
Perfection! Superb food, attentive service, comfortable seating and astounding view. Thanks to everyone.
We came to Hencote for a birthday afternoon tea and it was very enjoyable. The views and the decor are sublime. The savouries and patisserie were fabulous. However, our only criticism was that the tea drink was tasteless...for the price, this should have been a good quality loose leaf tea. We do like a good cup of tea...very English. We were also not offered a choice of teas.
Great location, amazing food, helpful and friendly staff
Really loved the atmosphere and the view was fantastic. It would be great to have more choice of vegetarian options and some vegan options on the menu. We had a really nice time and particularly enjoyed the wine. We had the Solaris which we liked so much we bought a bottle to take home.
Came for Valentines Day meal. Food was good but service was extremely poor. We received a discount off our bill and some Sunday Lunch vouchers to make up for the poor service. The food though was delicious and the Chef evidently knows his stuff! Wait staff were poor, probably due to low numbers but even so, they were asking us what food we should have next... we had pressed tomato twice! Will come again as food is always good, hopefully service will be better next time!
