Great time for my friends birthday.
Venue, setting and view is amazing , food was ok but it was more about the actual place for me - super quality layout and service
This is our 3rd visit and as always excellent service and food. We will be back very soon
Great food and service.
The quality of the service from the staff was excellent ! The meal sadly did not meet expectations: Starter: very little crab and only 5 tiny pieces of mackeral. Main : Lamb not hot, Pork dish too rare. The large table in the middle of the restaurant is too wide for conversation when placed opposite one another.
Too expensive for the portion. Service was too much - disturbed too much. I booked a corner table at the window and didn’t get it on arrival. I would not rush back for dinner but I’ll come back to enjoy the hencote bubbly and view.
Excellent food, service and the view!
We had a lovely meal. Food was cooked to perfection and offered interesting and different combinations of flavours. The desserts were to die for! Yes it’s more expensive than other eating establishments in Shrewsbury but it is offering a different and more sophisticated dining experience. We will be back!
Very disappointing! Very expensive!
Food was excellent quality but portion size could be bigger - main course in particular. Waiter was excellent as was the Sommelier!!
Great day, couldnt fault anything. Service and food was the best. Little pricey but a treat. Will be returning
This was our first visit to The View at Hencote and it most certainly won’t be our last. From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel very welcome, The Staff were helpful and informative. The food was perfection itself and the views across the vineyard and town were fantastic even on a misty, rainy day There is absolutely nowhere like this place in the area and we just loved it. Would wholeheartedly recommend it to absolutely anyone and everyone.
A memorable and Scrumptious Experience. The friendly warm welcome we received upon arrival set the tone for the delights which followed. The View was breathtaking. The staff were attentive and engaging. The food was delectable, and the rhubarb crumble with ginger ice cream was beyond delicious. The Hencote sparkling wine was excellent. I would highly recommend the View at Hencote, and I will definitely return.
Food, atmosphere and service were all fantastic! Will visit again but was quite pricey so would only for a special occasion
I booked Hencote for my sister's hen party. There were 24 of us in total for afternoon tea. The service was fantastic and the food was amazing. The vegan options provided were brilliant. The wine was lovely and the staff were very knowledgeable. The views over Shropshire were stunning. My sister was blown away by the venue and I know that a lot of the party have said they will be going back. I will certainly be returning to Hencote. Thank you all again for making the hen do such a memorable occasion.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Great atmosphere and fantastic service. But as vegetarians, we would love a few more vegetarian options
The venue is stunning but unfortunately the rest of the experience was lacking. The starters were fine, but not amazing, considering the price and very small. All of our party had steak - either Ribeye (£27) or Sirloin (£37) and all were disappointing. The ribeye was very fatty (and I realise that ribeye is by nature more fatty) and not cooked as people had asked. One of the orders was wrong and we had to wait for another to be cooked by which time the rest of us had finished. The bowl of chips was tiny and ordinary. The sauces were not brought out with each individual steak, and then were all dumped on the table rather than finding out who had ordered which. We didn’t bother with desserts or coffee. The serving staff were not as attentive as they should have been. When you are paying through the nose for a top-notch meal, you expect the very very best in food and service, and our meal at Hencote was a huge disappointment. We won’t be coming again, which is a shame as it has the potential to be a fabulous place to spend the evening. Hencote needs to sort itself out if it is going to succeed. Good luck!!
My wife and me are Disappointed with the quality of main course, very small dish for the price and cod fish just warm, starters not good value for their size, and not that tasty, dessert and wine exceptionally good. Not many vegetarian options. Staff exceptionally good and amazing view!!!
Thank you. We had a lovely evening.
Everything excellent. Felt the food was a little bit pricey but did not spoil our enjoyment. The selection of breads we shared was particularly good.
The only reason that we've given 2 stars for service is because of the Sommelier's knowledgable advice and service throughout the evening. 2 stars for atmosphere because you can't argue with the stunning views and we didn't know where to 'credit' them. Background music was far too loud, service was over-familiar and unhelpful, Not told about one main being sold out before we were left with the menus, of course 2 of us chose that dish. Totally inflexible about meat and side dish combinations when we tried to make last minute choices because of this. Then two of the 4 main courses had to be sent back due to not being warm/cooked, then returned to the table having been 'nuked' - rubbery and inedible lamb and turbot. And a £200 bill to top it off despite 2 mains being taken off the bill and no service charge. And we had to pay our taxi driver to stay and wait because it took so long for the bill to be delivered. Really very poor, felt like the business is trying to 'get away with' poor service and poor food and huge prices because of the view.
This was our first time at Hencote and thought we would try the bubbly brunch. Amazing views and we loved the restaurant. Service was very good and attentive though there was only one other table apart from us. The brunch was excellent-a different experience with all of the courses and was more than enough. We couldn’t eat anything else for the rest of the day. Lovely way to start of a Sunday and I could have sat and watched the views all day. It would be useful to know the local landmarks that we could see and the hills as did guess some of them and the waitress didn’t know the names. The only criticism we would have is that the cleaning and hoovering should be completed before the restaurant opens as you don’t really want someone hoovering around you when you have come for brunch. The main criticism and really not in keeping with the restaurant is that one of the chefs swore throughout the morning-we could hear it even though in the corner of the restaurant and not appropriate. We heard him 3 times during brunch and again clearly when we left. Despite that, we would return but I am sure it would have put off some other paying customers.
Had the best day
Amazing! Will be visiting again ASAP
I grew up inside restaurants as my father was a chef. I appreciate you pay for the view but the quality of the food needs to match the price. I would suggest maybe sourcing more local simple ingredients to lower costs, empty tables on a Saturday night is worrying. You charge £2 for Brita filtered tap water, really? Great wines and service was first class. The taste/seasoning/quantity of our main course just wasn’t quite right. Bland. There are much better places to eat without the view in the town centre. I would return for drinks but not food, I witnessed people sending their food back to the kitchen.
