About The Vestry Restaurant and Bar
An venue offering good quality food and excellent service. Individually styled, casual enough to be comfortable, smart enough to feel special.
Relax and enjoy our great lunchtime menu and coffee, and if you're feeling a little rebellious why not a cheeky glass of wine, the venue opens it's doors at 11am and is a great place to relax and eat with friends, colleagues and business associates.
We host Dining & Dance every other Saturday night
Every other Saturday night, when you can enjoy three courses with wine for only £35pp.
Our Pre-theatre menus are the only menus available for the 2 hours before a show across at the Mayflower, with the Express Lunch being available any other weekday between 12-3pm
Fantastic venue for pre-Theatre dinner.
Lovely food, prompt and polite service, tasteful decor (love all the tiny lights!) all perfect for a pre-theatre meal :-)
Food was absolutely delicious, and service was excellent, however the drinks are very expensive!
Had to send my duck back as it was cold and when it did come back, it was then rubbery. My friends had burger and the salad was brown, with no cucumber or tomato. And I was told I couldn't have ice - cream with my apple crumble, as it had gluten in it - Really, I'd like to know how a vanilla ice cream had wheat in it !!
An excellent meal in great surroundings, the fish pie was delicious. Our waitress, Ella, was very helpful and despite being rather busy was very enthusiastic and cheerful, a credit to the restaurant. We look forward to revisiting either before another show at the Mayflower or with friends on a night out. Definitely worth booking in advance to avoid missing out on a table, it is understandably very popular.
Excellent quality and service, although the main restaurant didn't have the same management oversight and customer interest as in the past. This could be because the manager Tomasz has recently left and it will take a lot to fill his shoes. He had the kitchen, waiting staff and restaurant service buzzing which created a unique atmosphere.
The service and food was excellent.
Excellent meal. Good and pleasant service. Convenient parking. First time I've seen my name attached to (my very own?) beer keg!
Great experience - fantastic food and friendly service. Perfect fir a pre- theatre meal.
Lovely service and setting but limited food choice and very small portions. Not good value.
A bit of a wait to be shown to our table but otherwise - Great meal, lovely atmosphere. Service fab (except for the above) & good value for money. We’ll be back for sure.
Fantastic service, without exception everyone in the team were first class. I didn't think we'd be able to eat as the restaurant is upstairs and my husband is disabled but it was not a problem. We had a reserved table in the bar area and were able to enjoy a wonderful pre theatre dinner. Honestly nothing was too much trouble from help with parking, to adapting dishes - thank you for making our first visit so enjoyable. We will definately be back.
First visit to the Vestry, would visit again however a couple of points we were overcharged for our meals but when pointed out was quickly rectified, you really need to look at some of the dining chairs as the upholstered part of the chairs you sit on are coming loose from the frame and one of our party trapped her finger between the wooden frame and the seat which could have been nasty another chair at our table had a loose seat as well, would have pointed it out as we left but we were in a hurry to get to theatre.
Friendly staff, excellent food and our lunch made our day very special.
Very enjoyable meal
This was our first visit but not our last!
We had s lovely meal before a show st this venue. The service and food was exceptional. We unfortunately had a disturbance on the lower floor with some drunken behaviour. The staff couldn’t be more apologetic about the situation and offered everyone a free drink as a way of apologising. Which was very generous as it wasn’t there fault. I will definitely book again we are in the area at a show. I would also recommend the vestry to others.
We were absolutly frozen , and had to eat with our coats on, did not have our choice of main meal or dessert, with a small menu to choose from we did all struggle to find alternative choices, our table was booked for 5.30 evening, when asked for drinks I was offered draft or bottle coke and I said the cheaper option, I was charged 70p more thasn the drinks menu!! It has really put us off returning and did spoil a a good night out.
Very enjoyable pre theatre meal.
Great meal, it's a beautiful place if not a little cold. My only small gripe is we were quite close to another table of 2 that was made into a 3, it was a bit of a squeeze, I asked if we could move but was told no as you were fully booked. We saw at least one other table that was available. It's only a small thing really, perhaps 3 guests should dine on a table for 4!
Friendly and helpful Good for before a theatre show
Unable to score any lower than a 1 as when we turned up we were told the kitchen had shut, they could see our booking on the system but had not seen it an hour before when they shut the kitchen. We booked in the afternoon so there is no excuse for this. We’ve eaten here before and enjoyed it so this was not the level of service we expected.
Great place to eat if going to The Mayflower
Food was fantastic & staff were very friendly & very helpful would highly recommend
Lovely venue and great staff. My main course was good but just a bit too brief in terms of portions. The vegetarian main was a disappointment. On the up side the panna cotta was superb.
