About The Tyler's Kiln
The Tyler’s Kiln Public House in Canterbury is about as charming a British country pub as you could wish to find. It’s got everything a pub needs: quality, homemade and traditional pub fare, a real sense of community, open fires and, of course, a well-stocked bar. Whether you’re just popping in for a coffee and a slice of homemade shortbread or a full three-course dinner from the a la carte menu that changes with the seasons, The Tyler’s Kiln Public House will leave an enormous smile on your face.
It has recently become infamous as 'Britain's Most Haunted Pub' and has appeared on several television series. Furthermore, it has won accolades including Pub of the Year 2016 by the Kent Food & Drink Awards, Best Pub or Casual Dining Venue 2017 by the Lux Food & Drink Awards, Best Home-Style Cuisine Restaurant 2018 by the Restaurant & Bar Awards, and Pub of the Year 2019 by CAMRA.
The bar area is dominated by a huge brick kiln roaring open fireplace that can seat up to 16 people on either side. There is a state of the art all-weather beer garden featuring protection from rain or shine at the touch of a button as well as overhead and under bench heating. Across the bridge you shall find the chef's herb house and a well stocked pond below a dripping copper tree water feature. Upstairs you will find a larger restaurant area, a private dining room, a cosy snug and even a museum area showcasing medieval tiles and pottery from Tyler Hill.
Advanced reservations are always a good idea if you want to be sure of a table as this place is a real gem in Canterbury. You’ll find it on Hackington Road, Tyler Hill.
Evening out with friends. Great choice of place. Food and service were first class at reasonable prices. Will not hesitate to go there again.
More non alcoholic beer choice would be good. Drinks menu available or more staff product knowledge. Lovely food.
Great Sunday lunch, staff friendly and attentive, food was well presented and meat cooked to perfection!.
Nice relaxed atmosphere
i just love the tylers kiln ,i think some dishes a bit pricey & a bit poncy like a lot of pubs now !!But it has a lovely atmosphere.
I had my baby shower in the private room and snug. Everyone was so lovely, accommodating, very helpful, and easy to chat with if I asked a question. I would 100% recommend this venue and it’s lovely staff.
Very pleasant waitress Nice food, Desserts very pricey
good meal and service, but Roast Beef without horseradish sauce is unforgivable. Beef was perfect but having to mahe do with mustard, shame. Overall a very good experience.
The meals were very tasty with delicious flavours. I mentioned that they were a little cold, and some money was taken off the bill.
Always a very good Sunday Lunch
Lovely food & very relaxed, friendly atmosphere, our waitress was very friendly & very attentive, always checking all was well & also very polite.
Nice pub but the pork I had was a little hard to cut and came more like a large pork chop than sliced pork.
Feeling very disappointed that after paying an£80 deposit that their where only 2 choices of roast dinners and other menu not available, even ice cream children wanted had run out.
Such a lovely location , food excellent. Staff welcoming with a warm smile and made my birthday very special. I live in Dover but certainly will be recommending Tyler’s Kiln to family and friends but most importantly returning !😊
We really enjoyed our meal last Sunday. Best roast beef in a long time.
We felt a bit rushed towards the end of our meal as if you wanted us out we would have a coffee to finish off our meal
Amazing night. Lovely people and beautiful atmosphere.
Great staff one of the best meals I’ve had in long time
Could not fault the food. Will definitely be returning soon.
Excellent service from our young waitress, very helpful and friendly without being intrusive. Good food and pleasant surroundings made for a lovely evening.
A stunning interior, friendly staff, delicious food. We try to visit every week and never get bored with the ambience or food. We are never disappointed and on the very rare occasion we find something is not quite right, the staff immediately resolve things and ensure we are happy! Top Notch!
Lovely meal but disappointed in choice of starters.
Very enjoyable meal with the family in your private room - great for the little kids as they could do colouring and games without disturbing anyone else. Lovely waitress but food a bit expensive.
Desserts were a bit pricey , and the add ons to the main course.
Lovely environment for a fabulous meal.
