About The Twenty Six
Twenty six chairs for twenty six people.
Take a seat. It’s our pleasure. Head chef Megs Buchanan offers an innovative and seasonal menu with ingredients respectfully prepared. Artisan, natural and biodynamic wines, plus cocktails and extract coffee served.
Excellent in all aspects
Outstanding food and friendly front of house
We had a lovely time. The food was fantastic, particularly the panacotta with the violet ice cream. Very friendly and lovely little space!
Excellent food, lovely atmosphere and friendly service. What's not to like.
Very lovely experience
We were celebrating my boyfriend's birthday and we had a fantastic time! Food and service were both excellent. We'll be back!
Fantastic food. It was an absolute pleasure to have a meal here with friends. They have not visited your restaurants before and were really happy after we left so I am sure they will return. The staff were so good, they are the perfect amount of attentive, and friendly. Atmosphere is warm and casual enough to allow you to relax and enjoy the evening and the food, but at the same time you know you are somewhere a bit special. We have never had a bad experience with you and your new chef has brought some interesting new concepts to the menu. The artichoke desert although unusual was delicious. I probably wouldn't have chosen this anywhere else, but was confident on it being good after two previous excellent courses. The 26 is an absolute pleasure to visit, and we will always reserve it for special occasions.
Very good food.
Wonderful!! First time and we loved it.
The food was absolutely delicious and despite a small menu it was hard to choose! Presentation was also beautiful. The service was perfect and the mother’s ruin gin should be available to buy! Already looking forward to our next visit. Thank you for a perfect evening.
You used to offer an amuse bouche but not any more? Also no more fixed price menus, only a la carte. There were only two tables occupied on a Thursday night, which felt a shame because we love this place. As a result we were done and dusted in just over an hour which made the evening feel rushed.
Thank you for another great evening at The Twenty Six. We are really enjoying the subtly different approach of the new Aussie chef. Fantastic flavours, personal service and great wine as always.
Throughly relaxing evening. Well looked after by an excellent host. Great food and warmth. Harry
It was a full house and all the staff worked very hard. We were extremly well looked after. The food was amazing especially the marmalade dessert. Very coset atmosphere sitting by the log burner. I will be palcing a trip advisor 5* reviewin the next few days. Big thanks to everynoe. Steve & Sharon
Lovely food, lovely environment. Fabulous to have a restaurant of this quality in Southborough
A delightful evening with delicious and intriguing dishes. The maitre d' was very helpful directing some friends who had got lost on the way, and phoned in for help. I much appreciated the 'Happy Birthday' plate!
Our first visit and we were sadly disappointed as the food arrived barely warm to the table. The salmon starter was delicious though...
Thank you, we look forward to our next visit.
Generally very disappointing. Pork cheek starter was pre cooked and reheated, dry. Lamb main course was mostly pre cooked and reheated, dry/old tasting lamb roll, uninspiring other accompaniments ( good small pieces of freshly cooked rump however, but did not compensate), individual carrot cake desert was cooked earlier, dry not tasty. No good at all. Overall very poor for relatively high prices.
Absolutely great place. Great to find somewhere local to us that serves excellent food with great service without being pretentious. We'll return often!
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The ambiance was lovely. The staff were very attentive without being intrusive. I’m sure we will be back.
We really enjoyed our meal and like so much of what you do and how you do it but - as with a recent meal at The Beacon - I do feel your portion sizes for mains are slightly mean. We both chose lamb and had two small pieces of lamb each where I would have expected three to be a fairer and more normal portion.i hate huge portions and being over faced but you do seem to operate at the other end of the scale.
Nearly, but not quite. Wanted to love it, but service needs to be more knowledgable and enthusiastic. Opening courses were underwhelming and under seasoned. Trout beautifully cooked, but not up to main course. Wine choices great, but I asked why called ‘wine flight’ and told ‘because we wanted to stand out’....really? I SO want to find our local great food experience to bring our friends every week ... it’s so close, but not enough
Booked for Saturday lunch with some old girl friends. Had the 5 course menu and it was absolutely delicious :D Will definitely be coming again. Thank you, thoroughly enjoyable!
Excellent food, nice concept
