About The Triton Inn
Pub-restaurant under new ownership offering fabulous home made British cuisine in a cosy rural pub. Great outdoor space, perfect for outside dining. Dogs welcome in the bar (if they're good!).
We arrived at 6.10pm and had ordered by 6.20/6.25 but did not receive our meals until 7.10pm which we thought was unacceptable, it put a bit of a dampener on the night because itherwise the food was lovely
We had Roast beef and pork. The meat was very nice but there was an excessive amount of red cabbage that was overly sweet. I would have preferred more green vegetables. I had some cabbage 1 bean and a few baby carrots that didn’t have the roots trimmed. Gravy in a jug would have been preferred to add as much or as little as you wish.
Restaurant Staff excellent. Nothing was a problem,
Staff were attentive but poorly trained. It is normal to serve ladies first which didn’t happen and not reach over people with food. Food was OK but not the same quality as last time we went. We were a bit disappointed overall which is a shame because i always enjoyed going. Not sure if i’ll go back.
Nice pub, with tasty food.
Food is always beautiful, don’t think it is the most friendly service. I had someone ask to take my plate when I was still eating and then when I ordered another drink my glass was taken away even though still had quite a bit in it. Seems very rushed. Would definitely come back
We enjoy the food & service normally but were left disappointed when one of our main courses hadn’t been ordered - we had to wait over 10 minutes for it to arrive, by which point most of our party had eaten their meals! I was offered another glass of wine as apology but as I was driving I declined - disappointed that nothing was taken off the bill as way of apology instead
Lovely food and great service. Thanks all!
Great food and drink
lovely meal and great food
We booked this table ahead of going to Fox & Coney as your menu advertises Sunday lunch, which wasn't obvious from the Fox & Coney menu. We were seated by a waitress and given menus, ordering drinks. When we ordered 2 Sunday lunches we were advised there were none left, which the waitress confirmed we should have been told by the first waitress that showed us to our table. Having already got drinks we decided to stay and ordered steak pies instead, though we had booked specifically for Sunday lunch and was disappointed that you had run out by 5pm. Whilst it was refreshing to be served 'real' pies, not just a pastry lid, we were disappointed that the pie was dry - very meaty so good value in that respect, but dry all the same - so we ordered extra gravy. The accompanying vegetables seemed to be a poor after-thought and probably accurately reflected the running out of Sunday dinners, a small portion of limp green cabbage, broccoli and green beans. The sweet potatoes fries were good so would have preferred a few more of those instead of the veg. I even found myself getting the attention of a waitress on behalf of another diner who was clearly trying to get attention herself but without success. Won't be rushing back - we've already booked a table for 4 at Fox & Coney for this coming Saturday.
Service is normally very good at The Triton, but it was a very busy Sunday afternoon and I think the kitchen must have been bit overwhelmed as we had a really long wait for our food to appear. It would have been nice if someone had told us there was a slight delay. After about 30 mins I was just about to get up and ask someone what was going on but the food arrived.
Scallops a little under done but very tasty Pear salad a little large for a starter Beef in Sunday lunch very tasty but quite a lot of fat left on it and though stated as meduim, ranged from rareish to well done. Overall a nice meal though for my father’s birthday and do really appreciate the dog-friendly approach
Excellent, we will return very soon
Fabulous evening, food amazing!
What an improvement: atmosphere, CST helpfulness and food. I will definitely be back; quite possibly the best ribeye steak I’ve eaten in the UK in years.
Exceptional food, will be booking again soon! Thank you
Another lovely meal! Nothing to complain about 😊.
Just a teeny bit slow asking for dessert order but apart from that excellent experience. Good food, good wine, great atmosphere.
Service from the staff was amazing, very attentive but not in your face. Food was delicious , maybe a few more starter choices would have been good but truly cannot complain . We both had the scallops. Main I had belly pork that melted in my mouth. Others had steak pie which I had a try of, I’ll be having that next time !! Also fish and chips that was meaty and crispy. Gorgeous
On this visit food not as good as previous visits.Pork belly very fatty and small portion for price.Cheesecake lacking in flavour.Service good as always.
Wonderful food yet again, great atmosphere and excellent service. Looking forward to returning soon, thank you
We were very very hot and suggest that air con is a must . The only cooling thing we saw was a small fan on the bar for your staff. Three out of 4 of our party got home to immediate bad stomach’s . All three had fish. . However, whilst eating the meals we found them to be tasty .
Lovely way to round off our day at the races .
