About The Three Compasses
The Three Compasses is a gorgeous pub set in the heart of Aldenham, fitting in with the close community spirit and the homely, unique atmosphere we’ve created. Dine in our stunning restaurant with family, indulge in a spot of lunch with work friends in our Board Room, or relax in front of our roaring fires with a loved one in the evening. Our rotating ales and delicious lagers offer you a number of options for you to sip on whilst you soak up the sun in our lovely garden, letting your little ones play on our climbing frames to work up an appetite for dinner. All our menus are served alongside our Head Chef’s scrumptious in-house specials both daily and weekly, we simply cannot wait to show you what we’ve been working on and serve up the great food you expect from us. Welcome to The Three Compasses.
Hi, unfortunately we were unable to make our reservation and I had to call to cancel as i was unable to cancel only me. We will be back through Great food in the past
Best steak and ale pie we’ve ever had!!! We’ll definitely be back.
I booked the Three Compasses for a 40th Anniversary meal for my parents. I added a note to the booking to notify the pub and they had kindly arranged a really nice private table and added 40th balloons to it, what a lovely touch! Food was great and the service fantastic, they really couldn't do enough. I wouldn't hesitate to go again and would definitely recommended the Three Compasses to others. Good job!
Delicious food...especialy the mac and cheese bites!
Beautiful pub, friendly staff, delicious food. Will be coming back!
We had the roast dinner the potatoes were awful the rest was ok
A real shame that the quality of food did not live up to the great service and atmosphere. Visited especially for the Sunday roast and were very disappointed with the poor quality. Roast potatoes that had clearly been reheated (although remained somewhat lukewarm), yorkshires that were burnt and a roast Chicken that was too tough for a normal knife to cut through.
Lovely meal well presented.
I have eaten here before a while ago with my family and come for drinks often. Therefore I chose to bring my boyfriend here for dinner in the lovely garden. I cannot believe how dissapointed I was when I left. There were ants everywhere crawling all over the tables, they brought our food out in the wrong order and also brought the wrong thing twice. Then when I eventually got the right meal it was stone cold and had the wrong side order. I couldn’t believe when I then went to pay the bill it was £70. The staff seemed very slow and disorganised and for the price you pay for the food I expected a lot more.
love this place - the service the food the ambience
We went on a Monday night & perhaps due to a busy weekend they had run out of some of the food on the menu but it wasn’t difficult to choose something else. This was perhaps my 8th visit over the past couple of years & things seem to have vastly improved & what we ate was really good. The service was great & with a smile
Our waitress was lovely and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Food was very nice.
Absolutely fabulous place. Couldn’t recommend it more if I tried, will definitely be back! P.s, the halloumi and pepper fries are to die for!
big thank to Ian & he`s staff for making my 55th anniversary so perfect... three young staff that attend to our table were brilliant credit to the pub.. thank you again Ian
Yet another fabulous meal at the 3 Compasses! The children’s burger in particular was absolutely huge and such great value for money. Ian and his team yet again made us feel so welcome and we will be back again soon!
Had a really good night celebrating my 50th birthday with Friends ... Food and service was brilliant , Ian the manager was very helpful , and Nicola was spot on looking after us all for the night ... Thanks for a really good night .....
A friendly local restaurant pub with a lovely atmosphere and attentive staff. We found the menu limited if you want fish or vegetarian, but there was plenty to choose from otherwise.
Great food and drinks. Love the venue and setting. Service could be much improved. It was a little too slack and everything felt like an effort. Got engaged though and manager bought us a glass of champagne, which was nice.
This was my second visit to the Three Compasses with my gang of friends and everything was absolutely great. The food was exceptionally delicious and plenty of it and the staff very courteous. My only negative comment, and it's only a very small observation, is that I didn't really like the 'quaint' touch of the soup and other side dishes being served in prison mugs. Other than that, completely excellent and definitely worth a visit! Thank you Ian and team.
The staff are friendly and helpful. The food was ok, only root vegetables with the roast dinner. The restaurant needed a good clean, lots of dust on the ledges by the tables.
Sorry to say but food was not very good. Partner's fish was tasteless as was my haloumi burger. Disappointed.
Place is lovely, been there a couple of times before. On this occasion the service was very slow. Felt as if it was one young lady serving the whole place.
Friendly staff, nice food, would recommend this place and return. Only point, we paid by card and cash and the waitress assumed all the cash was a tip and get the change, overall we didn’t mind but we weren’t aiming to leave the whole amount and change should always be returned
