About The Ternary
Located in Darling Harbour, offering dazzling views of the Sydney City skyline, The Ternary Restaurant brings an air of casual sophistication to the Sydney dining scene.
Good ambience, great for business dinners or catch up with friends, not too noisy and cosy enough. Menu has good choice of western and asian fusion, and good wine list. Service staff are attentive and friendly
This was the fourth time that I went to the Ternary and they seem to have a staffing problem. I didn't get the main course that I was looking forward to and I was offered an entree instead. My husband ordered the Tomahawk which takes 45 minutes so I was surprised to see my main was plonked on my table among dirty plates from the entree. He sat there looking confused while the waitress was wondering around trying to find single guys to flirt with. I kid you not. The waitress eventually bought some chicken dumplings for him without telling him what they were, and they also ended up on the bill despite not ordering them. Then when my husband got his main, there was no plate, just this giant casserole dish of food for him to eat from as if he were a pig! The food is nice but it is spoilt by having useless waitresses. My husband complained to the maitre'd about the awful waitress when he pointed out the overcharging on the bill and the maitre'd did not listen and shut him down. There are plenty of places to go for a nice meal, I suggest you find another one.
A very highly recommended place to go not just because the food was amazing there customer service they are professionals special thank to the manager who advised me to go with right wine .
Excellent staff and service.
Great food and service by the beautiful Ping Ping. One of the best places to dine in all of Sydney. Never disappoints.
Awesome place. We keep coming back to celebrate special occasions with the family. The service is always extra friendly.
We were overcharged for an extra bottle of water value $10. I did call about it and no call back received. The service and food was great.
Celebrated our 30 year anniversary at The Ternery. Was everything the reviews had said. Food was excellent and cellar well stocked. Topped off our night with our waitress surprising us with a celebratory dessert platter. Fantastic!
Delicious food, great service and the atmosphere is second to none. Highly recommended.
Had a wonderful time and waitress was lovely. Thank you. Will come again.
the food was warm at best, the service was slow had to wait for drink refills and its no fault of the server she was nice but over worked she had at least 6-8 tables in owe section with at least 4-6 people om each table way under staffed received the wrong drink and i waited so long for someone to come by i ended up taking it to the front desk they did take off 3 soft drinks and gave us a small plate of fruit but in the big picture we went out for a special family occasion we spent $280 with no alcohol i expected a lot better i could of gone to my local rsl and got the same cold food and service for a fraction of the price first time i went there and would be the last and wouldn't recommend to anyone
Always an enjoyable experience at the Ternary, food is fantastic love the balmain bugs. The bar service to the table can sometimes be a little slow, however, the food wait staff are always very attentive.
Our waiter was friendly and food was good
Always have a great night and great food.
Staff treated us like family. Great night will definitely be back with our friends and family. Thank you.
Time and time again never fail to deliver and be the absolute best out there.
The Ternary never fails to make our night special. tasty food, good atmosphere along with friendly staff. we went there last for our anniversary, Julia our waitress insured we had a memorable night will definitely be back and recommend this place to all our friends.
Our waitress was tremendous and when she found out it was a birthday celebration organised an additional free desert. Great customer service!
Quite good and value the money
We have eaten at the Ternary on a number of occasions and you have meet our expectations on every occasion. Unfortunately on this occasion you did not. We shared 2 entrees (salt and pepper squid and tandoori chicken). The salt and pepper squid was good but not as good as previous visits. The tandoori lacked the flavour of a true tandoori. We shared a Tomahawk steak for main which was well cooked and presented well. The vegetables were fine but once again the meat lacked the flavour that I was expecting. The 3 sauces tasted virtually the same and were served almost cold. The pepper sauce had no pepper flavour at all. We expected more. Service was excellent and staff very friendly but we have no desire to rush back to one of our favourite restaurants. I hope you can rectify these issues and give us incentive to return.
Fantastic service and venue, great selection of drinks. Food was of good quality for a tapas/pub style menu. Waiter really went the extra mile to ensure we were looked after.
This is our repeaat visit to The Ternary: Still excellent service. Sydney and Veronika were awesome! Food was a delight. Our visitors from the USA were impressed.
This is the third time we have been to the Ternary. The quality is very good. The food is excellent, service is friendly and efficient, good value especially using the Accor card.
My twin sibling and I celebrated pur milestone birthday here with our family. We had a wonderful dinner here and we are grateful to build this into our treasure bank of special moments. The service at the Ternary was excellent, warm and obliging. We requested a table with a view and we were seated by the ceiling to floor windows that gave us a view of all the pretty lights of Cockle Bay, as well as the kaleidoscope of colours that is the giant Ferris wheel and Harbourside. Our photos turned out beautifully with this backdrop. One of the best things I enjoyed about the Ternary is its relaxed but cool/classy atmosphere which was perfect for us. We felt we were dining somewhere special but felt free from the (probably self-imposed) need to be "prim and proper" when dining at fine dining establishments. The tables are spaced well apart from other diners compared to other venues which allowed us to enjoy our family banter without feeling inhibited. I also loved the fact that Ternary provides multiple cuisine options to cater for my parents' asian tastes as well as those of us who preferred western meals. Portions were generous and presented attractively. My sister's steak (tenderloin) was delicious and my grilled fish of the day (snapper) was perfectly done to my liking. Other family loved their meals too, the black pepper beef was extremely good value when paired with steam rice. Another sibling had the pork belly which was also delicious. The staff were very kind to surprise us with complimentary dessert with a lovely Happy Birthday message written in chocolate on thr plate. That was a warm and special gesture. Another highlight was having the head chef at the Steak/Grill section come over and ask how we were enjoying the meal and we noticed he did that with other diners too. Tip: apparently they have a special wine bar, but we are not drinkers and enjoyed the mocktails. We would definitely reccommend the Ternary to others and have already done so, and look forward to an opportunity to return with friends and family.
