About The Temple Inn
Located in the charming hamlet of Liss Forest in Hampshire, The Temple Inn is a family-friendly pub that has been a prominent part of the village of Liss for over a century. Offering seasonal menus and daily specials, The Temple welcomes all and has both cosy indoor seating with a log fire, and outdoor seating, perfect for the warmer months.
Was a little disappointed if honest atmosphere was poor only a few customers , service was provided by one guy who was running restaurant and bar at same time I thought £2.40 was an excessive price for a 200 mil bottle of diet coke this is a drink you would expect as a mixer on an airline rather than a drink in a pub . Dont do tesco meal deal serve a proper 330 ml bottle with a meal .
Lovely evening celebrating my 40th Birthday and all the staff were really attentive and helpful. The food was amazing and a nice relaxed atmosphere. The refurb looked fab too!
Okay pub. Need to turn lighting down. Leak in ladies toilets.
Great sticky toffee pudding with lots of hot sauce.
Lovely lunch and bottle of wine with excellent service.
This was my second visit and I shall be dining here again. Excellent food, great service, reasonable prices. Our lady guest was very impressed. David Taylor
Very impressed and thoroughly enjoyed our meal
A disappointing experience overall. Our starters and the plate of bread and accompaniments were all excellent. Service was friendly and helpful. No quibbles so far. Unfortunately, all three of us were left wondering what had gone wrong in the kitchen when our mains arrived. The mushroom and red pepper burger was lacking in preparation. The universal expectation when something is described as a burger is of ingredients minced and merged to form a patty. Instead, a whole mushroom and two pieces of red pepper just dumped inside the roll. Turning to the haddock and chips, the 'sautéed' peas were anything but - straight out of a bag and boiled. Last, my sirloin steak was cold. I suspect it was pre-cooked and not warmed sufficiently. We didn't complain at the time because we didn't want to embarrass a friend who was one of the waiting staff. We have many times visited the Duke of Cambridge, the Wheatsheaf and the Royal Exchange - so our disappointment has meaningful context.
If it can be, the beer was a little too cold - but that would be being very picky! We had a fantastic time and thanks to Matt and the team!
Awesome food and service yet again
The service was great as was the food. Friendly atmosphere. Would highly recommend.
Thank you for opening in the village. What a joy to have such a lovely pub within walking distance. We love you!
Great Sunday lunch - the roast beef was amazing.
Waited over 50 minutes for food to arrive, table next to us arrived 20 minutes after us and got food within 10 minutes of ordering. The had the same roast dinner order as us, they had finished before we even got ours. This is unacceptable service, only after the waiter could see we were annoyed about the table next to us getting there food before us did he say our food was on the way. 10 minutes later it turned up
Went as a family on 22/9 and had a great evening.Staff very attentative and food good. Will be going back again soon.
The chicken wrapped in bacon was superb as was the welcome and the service. As for the replacement Argentinian Malbec, delicious .
Lovely lunch wth friends, great food and service.
A most enjoyable evening with our daughter and son-in-law. Food and service were excellent and the staff were very friendly, with a good sense of humour. Thank you very much. We will return! Mike and Sonia Andrews, Liss
Really good quality and value Sunday lunch
Had tomato soup for lunch. Lovely texture and a nice amount but it was extremely sweet. Service was very good and I love the refurbishment. I will be back for a proper meal and I wish you all every success.
Couldn’t fault anything. The food was amazing, especially the steak which was cooked to perfection. The staff were incredibly professional and polite. Lovely atmosphere and decor is great, love the giant map on the wall in the dining area. Will definitely be back!
The Temple Inn is a fantastic country pub that the village of West Liss so badly needed. The decor of the pub is beautiful, think lots of lovely Farrow and Ball colours and quirky seating. There are a number of lovely beers and ales available and the outdoor seating is also fantastic. My wife and I, who have lived in Liss for 2 ½ years decided to book a table for our wedding anniversary to try out the food and restaurant experience. Firstly, we ordered our drinks and then had to wait for about 10 minutes for them, despite them being ready at the end of the bar. The two young waiters were just chatting and not being on the ball with their service. The food itself was ok. We both had a pie - me chicken, ham and leek and my wife having red pepper and goats cheese. My pie was ok, but my wife’s was a little dry. Where the meals were let down was down to skinny chips (you need chunky chips with a pie), some green beans and a red jus which was just a very thin gravy. It was trying too hard. Take the chips out of a separate serving dish, make them chunky and get them on the plate, serve some good peas and a proper gravy and you would have had a winning meal. It’s a lovely pub so we would definitely go back, but would try something different.
We had a great Sunday lunch and the kitchen staff were very good a dealing with my granddaughters numerous food allergies
Really great place and food is excellent. Very nice staff.
