About The Tayberry
Inspired by Scotland's natural larder and executed using a combination of modern and classic cooking techniques, The Tayberry offers a variety of innovative and seasonal menus, changing regularly to reflect the seasonality of the produce available. We can cater for a variety of food allergies and dietary requirements on request.
The Tayberry Restaurant offers a relaxed, contemporary Scottish fine dining experience set across two levels in a beautiful coastal setting.
Food and service as always was lovely. However it was strange To be eating out in these weird times
As usual, a great experience in the newly decorated Tayberry. Food, service and atmosphere a great tribute to Adam and his team.
Food very good and right time between courses - lots of different tastes. Would have liked a printed sheet of courses as difficult to hear ingredients as staff wearing masks - not The Tayberrys fault. Had the wine pairing too which worked well but again would have liked to have seen the bottles. A good dininh experience and would certainly visit again
Good service the ladies were kept verybusy but always polite and attentive Food good quality and flavoursome as always. I asked if I could choose a starter from one menu and main from another which they kindly allowed. I was however then disappointed as the main dish was the hake with the mussel starter ( which I had for starte) - my fault though not the restaurant! Itison deal excellent value for money. Our favourite restaurant in the Dundee area.
Great night out!
Food was fantastic, tasty, fresh and popped on the plate on Saturday and our server Alex was just wonderful and pleasant. Brilliant first mates date in over 4 months, cannot wait to come back.
Amazing food and happy to cater to everyone's dislikes without any issues. Staff are helpful and friendly, would absolutely recommend
Excellent all round, relaxed, perfect timings between courses, not rushed or kept waiting.
Great service and a really lovely space that felt safe in these current weird times. I loved almost everything about the meal. Gorgeous bread to start with and excellent coffee and petit fours to end. My starter was nice but not exactly as described on menu (came with peas and sweetcorn instead of thai red curry sauce) and my mum found the soup a little too fussy. But we ate it all which says a lot. And the main - baked sole - was stupendous.
Lovely first night out since March. Food excellent and staff lovely. Very relaxing. Thankyou.
Great Service, Great Food, Staff were excellent. A fantastic lunch.
Great to once again be back to The Tayberry. Food was as delicious and well presented as ever and staff very friendly. Thank you for a great evening
Great service and food ,especially considering the Covid circumstances . Very pleasant waitress who was attentive but not forceful. Relaxed atmosphere .A lot smaller inside than I envisaged. It was a special ,lunch for our sons 30th Birthday and why we hadn’t seen since lockdown . He-had travelled from Aberdeen.Would have been been nice to have had a nod or little gesture for him considering the celebratory occasion which I had mentioned when booking ,and which has occurred in similar restaurants but everyone enjoyed their meal. Many thanks.
Adam is the best chef in the Dundee area and the Tayberry is fantastic.
Lovely time spent at the Tayberry , we had the taster menu which was divine along with the wine flight. I struggled with the face shields but I am aware this is not specific to the Tayberry, something we need to get used to unfortunately. Definitely be back here, 5 stars all round.
Unfortunately we were quite disappointed with our visit. The main reason for this being the waitress serving us. We didn’t feel there was a particularly warm or friendly welcome. When shown to our table it felt as if we were in the way, rather than paying customers. Throughout the meal the waitress serving us completely ignored my partner every time he spoke to her - apart from to take his order - and seemed only to acknowledge myself when I spoke. We were unsure if this was done unknowingly, if it was because he was male or because of his ethnicity. Although we tried to disregard this, as other diners came in we were acutely aware they were being treated differently to ourselves and the waitress was engaging in conversation with the other tables but not our own. Twice I was given dirty cutlery. When we asked for a jug of water, the jug itself had dirt at the bottom of it, which came out in to my glass when it was poured. And out of a three hour dining experience, we were only once asked if we were ok for drinks. Having been to other restaurants for tasting menus, being told what we are eating is pretty standard. However at no point were the dishes we had explained to us. As this was a surprise tasting menu, we would have expected a bit of information about what we were eating. Although the food was enjoyable, at one point I was served, quote “vegetarian soup”. The soup was lovely but I’m still unaware of what I was actually eating. The overall experience was not what we would have expected for the reputation we believed the restaurant to have. The manner in which we were dealt with made for an uncomfortable atmosphere and made the whole experience unenjoyable. So much so, that we actually left after our final course and didn’t wait to have coffee. I would like to add though that we did have a second waitress serve us when our original waitress was busy. This was roughly around our 4th course, and they were lovely, friendly and actually smiled at us. She did make the experience much better and we actually found the difference in the demeanour between the two waitresses like night and day. Unfortunately though, by that stage in our meal we felt disappointed with the overall experience.
We had a lovely table by the window. The food was well presented and delicious.
The staff were very welcoming, attentive, food was excellent, great value
Lovely atmosphere, great food, good service, we will be back.
40 minutes between courses one and two and two and three. Also we asked for our coffees to be served with our dessert due to time constraints but these eventually came a further 10 minutes later. When we arrived we were only the second couple seated downstairs so the fact the restaurant was busy with customers cannot be used as an excuse for the tardy service. In saying that, the waitress was very pleasant and apologised for the delays.
The food was outstanding, from starter to dessert.
Another brilliant Evening! Never disappoints! Thanks to all.
First visit for us it was a very pleasant one food exceptional waiters vers attentive and surroundings very pleasant. You are definitely on our list for a return visit thank you all very much xx
