About The Swan Inn
At the Swan we seek out the very best suppliers who we love to work with. Often we’ve worked with them for years but some are new but the rule is that we try to find the best. Our menus change with the seasons and we offer daily specials.
Super evening at the Village Grill, thank you. Lots of lovely food and great service in a beautiful setting. We were glad our son wanted to see the dessert menu too, as it gave us a sneak preview of the regular menu, which will undoubtedly tempt us back!
The BBQ was excellent the service excellent the staff very friendly. As it was a very hot sunny afternoon we found it very hot eating in full sun we eventually did move to a shady spot but it was not as comfortable. Maybe some umbrellas would be good.
Had a marvelous time at the Swan - we went for the BBQ grill weekend and it was perfect! Tables nicely spread out, food (as we hoped) was phenomenal, setting and atmosphere with the live music was really chilled and our waitress was just lovely - really nice to chat to, as were all of the staff we encountered. It made me feel like I was on holiday, I didn't want to leave (I also wish I had a second stomach).
The Village Grill was a brilliant concept, plenty to eat and very good value. It was great to have the opportunity to speak to Richard Turner as well. All Staff adhearing to the Covid rules and wearing masks.
Gorgeous garden- the food, service, drinks and setting were all amazing and we can’t wait to come back!
We made an online reservation several weeks ago and duly confirmed it two days before our dinner. Upon arrival we were “greeted” by a young female who seemingly could not find our reservation and escorted us to the table prepared for 4 people in a thoroughfare by the till. As we had a dog with us, we asked if we could sit at the back of the pub where there was a table set for 2 people. Her reply was that that table was reserved. When we pointed out that we also had a reservation, she made some other excuses in a very abrupt manner why we could not be seated at the table at the back of the empty pub. It went from bad to worse from thereon. The food that we tried was poorly prepared and in some instances did not correspond to the menu descriptions. BBQ prawns were not BBQed but were a chewy mess possibly cooked in a pan that was not hot enough. The dish was not seasoned properly and certainly the prawns were not “garlic and nduja” as stated in the menu as they tasted of nothing. Some peas were on top of the prawns perhaps for decoration as they added nothing to an already disastrous dish. The wine was not great either. We tried two different types of red by the glass and both were terrible. We did not even finish it. The main was lamb with braised baby lettuce. The lamb was fresh and tender but it was ruined by being grossly under-seasoned. The poor baby lettuce was cooked out its existence and was not braised by any stretch of the imagination and it looked ghastly both in colour and consistency. Cutlery was dirty and the waitress had to replace it. This coupled with a rude, arrogant and abrasive “duty manager” made the whole experience deeply unpleasant. She even acted like a bully towards one of the young waitresses. We requested that the service charge be removed from our bill as we did not think we had any service. We shall not be back and cannot recommend this place. If you want to spend £140.00 for a pub dinner, go somewhere else as there are plenty lovely pubs with great food and good service in that part of Cotswolds. We do not normally leave reviews but on this occasion we felt compelled to share our experience of this place.
Wine by glass quite expensive Food choice and quality excellent Would have been nice to have a sandwich menu
Fantastic food and service . My only slight suggestion would be that the music playlist in the restaurant was a little clubby and loud . Maybe good for the bar but maybe either turn it down a bit in the restaurant or select a more subtle background music ? Otherwise loved the roast !!!
Amazing place, amazing food! Lovely people, cannot fault it in anyway! Would definitely go back!
All in all, a second very pleasant experience. Both of us impressed that COVID-19 social distancing being taken seriously. Food and service excellent.
A fabulous stay, lovely service and the comfiest bed in the Cotswolds. Thank you.
The food was just excellent, everything was perfect, well done everyone Chefs & waiting staff 👍
Excellent, friendly service and very tasty food. Really enjoyed it.
We enjoyed our first visit. The Sunday roast lamb was excellent as was our server, Beth. We have re booked for this Friday dinner.
beautiful place, wonderful food, lovely helpful staff. But it did seem like they needed more staff on, too many people outweighing the number of staff so requests sometimes got misplaced/forgotten
Had dinner on Saturday, waited 30 minutes for the pre starter to arrive, to be followed almost immediately by the starter whilst still trying to enjoy the first, no explanation given. The main course was poor, fondant potato undercooked and very limited jus/sauce/gravy which made for a dry meal. Overall even allowing for the difficult circumstances we all find ourselves in would not recommend.
Loved it here. Great place, lovely room, food was fab. Will definitely come back!
Excellent meal, top service by the team. Always a pleasure going to The Swan
Gorgeous food. Great service. Cannot fault anything!!
Very well looked after by member of staff
The Swan is a lovely pub with very friendly staff and the food for dinner was excellent (although the price of some items needs to be revised: 18£ for a "tarte flambé" to share is a bit much). I was a bit disappointed that there was no other communal room accessible (other than the restaurant) for a tea by the fire for ex. The main issue is, in my opinion, with the level of service for the rooms. The room was not cleaned once during our 3 nights stay (even with the sign " make the room" on the door), and the smell from the kitchen extractor underneath our window meant that we had a constant smell of food in our already very warm room. In addition, the breakfast that is included in the room rate is very underwhelming. It is a pleasant hotel, very well located, but some effort are required to justify the price mark.
The pub itself is so cute and lovely, which gives it a nice cosy atmosphere. The staff were super friendly and the food was delicious. Loved it there and cannot wait to return!
We had an excellent lunch at the wonderfully appointed and superbly run Swan at Aston Under Wychwood. Even during the busy Sunday lunch service the atmosphere was calm and the staff very attentive and cheerful. Well worth a visit as the menu offers wonderful choice and quality in a beautiful part of the Cotswolds.
All very good. Only comment would be a bloody fly that decided to hover around our table but that’s hardly your fault! Car parking is a bit of a nightmare
