Waitress was well informed about the dishes, made helpful suggestions and enhanced the experience
Had a wonderful stay at The Swan. We visited with our 5 month old daughter and was made to feel very welcome. The four-poster room was lovely and breakfast and dinners in the Brasserie were delicious.
A great meal and excellent service
Great service, lovely food and a gorgeous location. We will be back soon.
A very relaxing stay. The staff made us very welcome in spite of the various Covid 19 restrictions in place.
I had the chicken roast and it was honestly the beat roast I have ever had. The food was absolutely incredible and all of the staff were so friendly and welcoming! Also felt very safe and socially distanced.
Food was good but burgers were missing ingredients. Multiple reasons given for this so still not clear why this happened
Delicious food and great service
Staff were helpful and food was excellent. However I do not appreciate being asked to have a charity donation automatically applied to my bill. I like to choose what charities I support. Given that the 5% VAT rate change was not passed onto customers, the hotel could make charitable donations to its charity of choice using some of the additional15% that they are not having to send to HMRC.
A little cold in the public rooms. We asked for the fire to be lit and was told that would be possible but it didn’t happen. Staff were brilliant - particularly the bubbly girl on reception who provided probably the warmest welcome we’ve ever had in a hotel and the friendly and enthusiastic waitress...dark hair and possibly Spanish. Food generally very good - excellent grouse and the chocolate dessert. The lamb was a little bland. The full cooked breakfast was substantial but lacked a quality taste. Room 6 was fabulous, comfortable and stylish. Also think you should have a dinner bed and breakfast rate which provides a reasonable discount on the food. All in all though, a lovely stay. Thanks.
Very nice hotel with great service in the middle of the cutest village! Our room was very big with a beautiful bathroom and all the expected little luxuries (loved the Molton Brown products and the Nespresso machine). Breakfast was Exceptional and dinner was pretty good too! The blonde receptionist girl was very friendly and made us feel welcome from the start...Would definitely come back to this hotel. Only negative comment would be on the thinness of the doors and walls ( we could hear other guests walking and doors closing pretty loudly) however the noise did not keep us awake or bother us too much (everything was really quiet during the night).
We had the ham Terrine and soup to start and they were both beautiful and well worth the money. Our main was the £60 Beef sharing platter and was completely underwhelming and very overpriced with unappealing tomatoes and mushrooms as the sides. I would definitely visit the hotel and restaurant again but choose very differently. The staff though are fantastic and a real credit to the hotel.
Delicious food with friendly and attentive service
Fantastic meal at The Swan Hotel. Absolutely delicious food, lovely atmosphere and the staff could not have made us feel more welcome. Will definitely be back!
Very nice dinner served by professional, polite staff in a pleasant surrounding.
We had a really enjoyable stay at The Swan. Our room was a little small but scrupulously clean and comfortable. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. The bar and restaurant areas are very smart, covid safe and spacious, and the food and drink are excellent. There isn't a lot of choice for accommodation and food/drink in Bibury so it is good to know that The Swan maintains such high standards.
Tasty vegetarian option for the Sunday roast, something much more delicious than the usual boring but roast. Got to sit outside which was great on a sunny day. 2 things to work on: roasts came out incredibly quick; I assume they are cooking everything and holding in a hot hold and serving as needed which meant when it came out it wasn’t super hot. It was tasty, just could have been a little warmer. And then we ordered tap water with the waiter and he brought out expensive bottled water and when we questioned it (we had to question it, he wasn’t forth coming) he said they don’t serve tap water - my understanding is that every licensed premise has to provide free drinking water but based on listening to him upselling and increasing spend on all the tables I’d say it was the company’s policy to try and ‘scam’ as much money out of tourists on their trip there as possible - so just be aware to specific spirit or wine types, sizes etc.
Excellent food, nice staff.
We stayed at the Swan for two nights and enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in a nice setting with a good restaurant and outdoor area. The bar and restaurant staff were great. For us though we likely wouldn’t return due to two reasons, firstly the size of the beds, which were very small for a ~£250 room. Secondly, due to the service at reception. We asked for help booking a taxi from a lady (I believe Virginia) for a 12 minute trip. She rang back and quoted us £35 for this and assured us this was the cheapest we would find. Apparently they were giving us a discount! After one phone call to the local taxi rank we got this journey for £18. To us it felt like the hotel/receptionist either could not be bothered to make more than one call, or was getting a kick back from a specific taxi firm. I suspect the latter. Moreover, there are a lot of older people and tourists staying in the hotel who would simply just accept the price and be taken advantage of. For us this felt predatory and we were disappointed. An established hotel in this area knows exactly the price of this type of journey and should be offering customers the best service and prices, not using a cab company in Cirencester who they have made behind the doors agreements with. No 12 minute journey is £35. A 24 minute round trip is not £70. We also found this lady incredibly condescending on our checkin/ arrival. Very dismissive, and constantly talking over us / ushering us along. After speaking to other guests they had the same experience. Apparently this is well known though as most of the other staff have now left working there. So in summary, nice, but not worth the money for what it is and expected a bit more. Review would be higher but the above really frustrates us when we know people are being taken advantage of.
Very comfortable accomodation and excellent restaurant. Staff was helpful and the hotel is in a beautiful setting
Food was really nice
We found the quantity of food to be very poor for the price. Specially the green Thai curry. It was very poor indeed. Just consisted of a tablespoon of rice with some sauce a few cashews and a piece of pak choi.
Absolutely fabulous service, staff genuinely brilliant. Gorgeous Sunday roast lunch . We will definitely be coming more often.
The restaurant was lovely & we would come again. My only criticism was the Vegan option: it was a very small portion compared to the massive meat portions I saw served. We were left still hungry, & I only felt slightly full after having the Vegan dessert. The rice was slightly under-cooked too. Please don't be mean with us Vegans :) Thanks.
Excellent both evening meal and breakfast Well done to all staff
