We had a wonderful stay at the Swan last weekend. Bibury is always worth a vist and The Swan is perfectly placed in the village centre perfect for any walk. Service is clearly superb. It was our first weekend out with our dog and we could not have asked for more. All the staff were absolutely brilliant with her and went all the way to making our stay memorable. We will definitely come back.
Such a disappointment. Shockingly poor quality cream tea. The sandwiches had clearly been made hours before and were cold with stale bread. The cakes to be fair were good, but the scones again were undercooked, stodgy and doughy. The manager kindly offered to replace everything, but the replacement sandwiches and scones were the same!!! We couldn’t face more trouble so paid (at £32 this was extortionate for the terrible quality of food) and left. So disappointing as we had travelled a long way to sample this. We very rarely complain about anything but this was a poor experience.
Amazing breakfasts, good varied choice when dining in Brasserie & in the Courtyard bar. Service was excellent, & all staff very friendly & helpful. We were celebrating our Ruby Wedding Anniversary , couldn’t have picked anywhere better...amazing.
Poor, rushed and uncoordinated service with poorly trained and inattentive staff. Food quality was poor with barely warm food that took a long time to arrive. Food was over seasoned. Would not return and certainly would not advise. The place only appears busy due to its prominent location and lack of competition.
We had a lovely 1st wedding anniversary lunch back at The Swan. Staff recognised us and were very welcoming & brilliant, great food, drinks and service. Just as it all was for our wedding day. Highly recommended.
This is the first dinner we have had at the Swan. It had a Lovely atmosphere, with really exciting menu, great on the eye and tongue. Looking forward to our Wedding here next year!
I was disappointed with the Pre-booked afternoon tea, the welcome we received was non existent and apart from two gentlemen the service was surly and poor. The cakes were chunky and not that great, sandwiches were good though! Reasonably priced but a let down!
Enjoyed our evening, excellent food and service
Not very busy so atmosphere was a bit flat and the service was poor towards the end, dessert plates not cleared for 25 mins and had to wait a while for the bill.
Extremely disappointing experience. The cottage accommodation was adequate. Dinner was the worst expensive meal I have ever had. The whole package was grossly overpriced. We will not be returning to this hotel. The following night we stayed at a 4* hotel in Cheltenham; less than half the price; lunch and breakfast excellent; the service exemplary.
We had looked forward to our Sunday lunch with you last weekend, but were disappointed with our experience. It soon became apparent that the Brasserie was seriously understaffed. Everything took far too long, the staff were stretched to the limit and the whole experience was really disappointing. We cannot blame the staff, since the responsibility for adequate staffing rests firmly with the management. Frankly, you have let your staff and your customers down and we would need to be reassured that the situation will change before returning or recommending The Swan to friends.
Enjoyed our visit. Food and drink very tasty. Needs more music in brasserie to create a more relaxed atmosphere as it was quite empty. Staff were very efficient but with an empty restaurant each member tended to visit our table asking the same questions which was a bit off putting. I would definitely visit again with the few tweaks making it to a five star rating.
The experience was fantastic. The eggs Royal at breakfast were extremely good. Our only problem was for those who don't like shellfish there is a limited choice of main course in the brasserie. All staff we came into contact with were extremely friendly and helpful
Busy as wedding fair in progress. Service was good -food pleasant - not too sure menu reflects food presented
On this visit we were very disappointed on the service we received, from being greeted to the end of our visit. There were 2 guys taking the orders, we waited 20 mins before either of them came to our table. I sat and watched them serving other tables and they were completely different with them then ours!!!
Visited on Sunday on what was a busy day for the bar due to the number of outside patrons, however the restaurant was quiet but the service extremely slow and inflexible, everything seemed to be too much trouble! But great food,
Excellent stay at the Swan made particularly special by the warm and friendly staff
For our 1st anniversary they pulled out all the stops! Such an amazing evening, service was spot on! Friendly and very professional. Food was amazing and we had the perfect evening
"Excellent" room was very spacious and comfortable. Reception staff were excellent too. However the Brasserie dinner was disappointing: service was slow, white wine was warm, poor small table, tiled floor looked dirty, very noisy because of hard surfaces, trout starter was a minute portion, trout main course was disappointing, desserts were better, and all for premium prices. Service improved after we expressed our disappointment and the starter was deducted from the bill, Shouldn't have to ask/fill up on bread to stave off hunger. Water should be left on the table. Altogether a really disappointing meal and it was a special occasion. The portions being served to those having the bar menu looked much more generous. Can't recommend the Brasserie at all. Breakfast choice was quite good but again such a noisy room makes for an uncomfortable experience and reluctance to linger. Shame as the hotel is in a lovely location and the other areas of the hotel carpeted and much more in keeping with the age of the building.
Birthday lunch arranged. Served by Ernesto the Brasserie Manager...excellent service, very friendly and couldn't have done any more to help us enjoy our visit. Food very good quality. Nice touch with dessert as piped Happy Birthday. Fully recommend a visit
Thanks for the delicious food and beautiful ambiance
Staff is way-over-the-top helpful and friendly. We will return whenever we can to this extraordinary place. The cottages are lovely and so cozy.
Two of our party were extremely disappointed with the main course (Hake), the size of the fish was minute, the proportion of vegetables & parmentier potatoes was also negligible. In fact the whole course would have been more appropriate as a starter. The waiter was asked if a magnifying glass was available ! We did not pursue the matter as it would have spoilt the atmosphere for our friends, though other members of the party also commented on the smallness of that particular dish compared with our other main courses.
The service was excellent and the food was delicious. One minor comment - we found that the music was difficult to distinguish and sounded a bit 'tinny' - if needed at all.
