Very enjoyable day .Great start for Christmas. Hope you do it again next year .
A lovely Hotel especially in winter.
Christmas Jazz lunch was an excellent idea. We look forward to experiencing more like it.
A very calm and enjoyable stay
We visited The Swan as part of our yearly Christmas celebrations. It was nice to see the restaurant and lounges busy; however, disappointed to see so many patrons casually dressed (trainers and fleeces) and even dogs are now permitted to sit on sofas. We will return, but simply on a casual basis next year.
Hi it's a shame after the pianist left they didn't play some Christmas music or carols for the Christmas ambiance. The service was good the food was lovely ..will book again for next year but hope for a little more Christmas with our afternoon tea .
A really tasty brunch & excellent service combined to get our visit to the Laveham Christmas fair off to a great start. We look forward to a return visit.
Felt special, but at home in the Gallery Restaurant. Great Staff & food!
Food was lovely, piano playing was fantastic. The staff were fine during the meal when we finished our desert that changed. We were never asked if we would like anything else and were informed If we would like drinks added to our tab that we would need to sign. We tried numerous times to get the attention of staff however they seemed to busy on packing everything away which made us feel like they would like everyone to hurry up,In the end after a good 20 minutes we just got up and left. It was a shame as everything was good up until then even though the was hair in my husbands starter
We had to ask for drinks. Our order took over 40 minutes and people were served before us who had arrived after us. Our drinks order was wrong. Our steaks arrived stone cold. We weren’t offered pudding and had to go to the till to pay to the awful waiter.
Great food atmosphere and service can’t fault anything
Once again thankyou so much for an enjoyable stay.3rd time this year and booked again for april next year cannot wait.first class service as always.
Had to wait ages (about 20 mins) to catch the eye of someone to take our tea order. Despite having given our afternoon tea selections several days earlier, so you could cater for vegetarian and non-meat eaters, you made them all veggie. The fish eaters wanted cured salmon, which is on the regular menu, but wasn’t given to them. The sandwich flavours were dull and even included a JAM sandwich! REALLY?? And this was even for those who chose the Gentleman’s savoury tea. Very poor. Chef obviously has zero imagination for veggies and was lazy in splitting sandwiches for those who ate fish. I gave plenty of notice and very little effort was made. The venue is delightful and the ice water on the table was appreciated. Good choice of teas, though the peppermint lacked flavour and the green tea with berries lacked berry flavour. All show, little substance.
Beautiful surroundings and very elegant. Good quality sandwiches and cakes, but could not finish them all :). Waitress was very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely book again.
Hotel has loads of character and in the room we stayed in it was a challenge to walk on the sloping floor, particularly in the middle of the night! Afternoon tea was fabulous particularly the chorizo sausage roll and the home made raspberry jam. Breakfast was also fabulous. We didn’t have an evening meal in the restaurant as last time we were there it was a big disappointment. It is a lovely hotel but rather expensive for what you get.
Such a beautiful setting, lovely atmosphere and the staff were very attentive, polite and friendly. Food was delightful, we will be coming back and will recommend to family and friends.
Superb food in relaxed and atmospheric surroundings
My wife and I had afternoon tea here for her birthday. She had the 'Gentleman's Tea' (!) - savoury, and I had the afternoon tea - sweet. Both were delicious. We added a glass of champagne each to celebrate. There were 12 people in the restaurant when we arrived but they gradually left until we were the last ones, hence only 4 stars for atmosphere, but the whole experience was very enjoyable, even quite decadent!! Would definitely recommend.
All aspects were delightful. Service balance of attentive but not over the top was perfect. Can't wait to come back to have the plaice again! Only lost one star as the scampi had very few carbs of any sort and thought it could have come with something to add a bit more substance - it was still delicious.
Wonderful atmosphere , utterly delicious afternoon tea !! Very friendly attentive service. Wonderful pianist too! Really recommend it!
Would appreciate a two course option for Sunday lunch
We had a lovely stay, the 5 course dinner in the Gallery restaurant was wonderful with very helpful and friendly staff, the gentlemen attending to our wine was marvellous. The bar staff in the airman’s bar were great and made us cocktails not on the list which was a lovely bonus. I felt very rushed at breakfast however, but this was the only negative.
We had a thoroughly good time and the service was excellent. Thank you.
Very enjoyable lunch
