About The Sun Inn
We are passionate about everything that we do at The Sun Inn and we take pride in our food. Using seasonal produce our chefs prepare and produce a variety of dishes to suit all tastes, catering for all ages and a strong choice of vegetarian meals too. We are open 7 days a week and provide a calming restaurant atmosphere or alternately you can eat in our bar area.
Everyone is welcome at The Sun Inn and we allow dogs in our lounge areas. Children are welcome at all times with highchairs, children's menu is available.
We are able to accommodate large tables also up to a size of 30 people.
Food was good. This was a return booking as 2 days before there was little on the menu so we left. This time we had a better area to sit and everything was available. The ribs were good and plenty of pork on them. I was able to swap chips for more salad and coleslaw. Was offered tasters of 2 beers, Mosiac was nice and hoppy. Sanitisers on entry and exit route out through the garden. Better visit this time.
Our first meal out since Lockdown. Fabulous.
Booked online to have ribs and pork belly. Arrived and was seated. We had sanitised but there is no temperature check. No ppe worn. Accompanying the menus the server had a slip of paper with a long list of items no longer available. Two items were NO ribs and NO belly pork!! Surprisingly there was also NO pizza of which there is a large choice. The only thing left ON the menu seemed to be burgers and a vegetarian or fish item, and this was only 6.30pm! So we left . We ate elsewhere. Disappointing. Looked forward to the ribs.
We visited on the first Wednesday of the Eat out to Help Out scheme and it was clear that the pub had been overwhelmed by the number of covers - all the main meat options had sold out and our mains took 90 minutes to arrive. Despite this, the food we had was very tasty and the staff could not have been more helpful.
Atmosphere is rated lower due to a group of four seated behind who were arguing rather loud but other than that everyone else and the staff were lovely.
Table dirty on arrival. Garlic bread appear to be minced garlic on pizza base and lots of it. Belly pork very greasy. Pizza seemed to have chopped tomatoes as the base. Very thick. 1 who had belly pork felt ill. 1 who had garlic bread and gf pizza was ill all day today. Consistent with cross contamination of gluten for my coeliac son.
The food was amazing. So much maybe too much. The portions were very generous. Both my husband and I left feeling very full. Would definitely recommend as a great place to eat.
We waited 10 mins on arrival to be seated (even though we had pre-booked). No menus were given or drinks orders taken for another 20 minutes after being seated. Staff looked very stressed and under pressure however the lady who served us still gave excellent service and i feel that she needs to be acknowledged for this as something had obviously gone wrong with the logistics that night we went. Food was of a high standard but took too long to arrive. All in all, I understand the pressures that they are facing due to covid, however felt that there was no organisation, Structure or presence in the dining room or even at the bar.
Was a busy evening with football so they let us eat upstairs where it was more relaxed
Lovely pub/restaurant. Well kept, friendly staff and food is a plenty!
Great food and service as always
Ordering food in a pandameic means downloading an app - husband unable to do this but managed it on my mobile. Ordering food was easy. Service to table was quite quick but sadly the food ordered (steak pie) was cold in the middle. Husband complained and waitress was apologetic but second delivery of food was cremated! So pie although cooked through, was the same one that was taken back (assuming microwaved as the meat was really tough and inedible) and the chips were also overdone. Dinner was returned again and a refund for the meal given. Shame one of us had to go hungry.
Lovely meal and great service.
Very well organised throughout, staff were very helpful and supportive under difficult circumstances.
We were welcomed in, the staff polite and food gorgeous. We had to ask for menus and desserts menu and service was very slow with meals but there was no complaints with this as the staff are clearly rushed off their feet with the new normal! We will be back :)
Great sunday lunch, great service from the staff even in this pandemic, could not fault service.
Had a lovely lunch, all five of us and despite social distancing, it was really good
Great family meal. Safely social distanced. Excellent speedy service and the food was lovely as always
Great stay .. couldn't believe how busy the pub was. Didnt interrupt our sleep tho!! Food was amazing. Definitely recommend.
Very disappointing. I had the mac and cheese with crispy bacon bits. It was tasteless and watery with a few, not crispy pieces of bacon. My husband had the belly pork which he said was also tasteless.
Lovely staff and delicious food.
Very enjoyable evening on the Valentines special lovely touch with a singer too. Thank you
Great food. Excellent staff.
Always excellent everytime we've been in the sun inn.
Very good service and excellent food
